Blaine had spent the entire evening searching for an appropriate ballad to sing to Kurt. This needed to be perfect, the song needed to perfectly sum up what he had been feeling for the past seven years and it wasn't going to be easy.

“Blainey, honey! Dinner's ready!” Mrs. Anderson yelled up the stairs.

“Be down in a second!” Blaine looked at his laptop and sighed. He had spent the past three hours searching iTunes, old CDs and vinyls plus numerous websites trying to find the perfect song but he had no luck. He closed the laptop and went downstairs.

The smell of hamburger helper intensified as he reached the dining room. Robert Anderson was sitting at the table eating and reading the paper simultaneously while looking over his bifocals. His mother was standing over an empty plate, pouring hot noodles and meat into it. Blaine sat down as soon as his mother moved and poured himself a glass of milk.

“So how was school today, sweetie?” Eve Anderson asked with a smile.

“It was fine.” Blaine pushed around his food with a fork. They sat in a comfortable silence for the remainder of the meal. Ever since Blaine came out to his parents during his Freshman year, dinners never have really been the same. He remembers his father giving him a cold stare while his mother cried into a kleenex that she retrieved from the box on the coffee table.

“How could you do this to us?” His father asked sternly.

“It's not a choice. Do you think I chose to see Mom cry like this?” Eve looked up at her son who was standing in front of her as if she had never seen him before in her life. Blaine saw the look in her eyes, as well as his fathers. This wasn't who they wanted their son to be. This was some disappointment to the Anderson household. Blaine wasn't their son. Not like this.

Robert got up and looked down at his son. “How dare you. We raised you right. We have given you everything and have asked for nothing in return. And now you go and do THIS? You are selfish.”

“I'm selfish! What about you? You were the one who made me quit choir and join baseball in middle school because your boss thought it was weird that his son was in it and yours wasn't. I have gotten beat up by kids so many times just to come home to your speech about acting like a man. But you know what, Dad? I am a man. I don't need to act like one.”

“How dare you speak to us–!” Robert started before Blaine cut him off.

“Do you know how many days I've hated myself and who I am? How many nights I've stayed awake wondering if you'll ever accept me? If when I got to this moment I would have to worry about you and Mom kicking me out for me doing nothing wrong. I wasn't even going to tell you today, but I had to. Nothing is ever going to keep me from being myself.”

“Get out.” Robert said taking a step closer to Blaine.

“Where do you expect me to go?”

“I don't care. Just get out of my sight.”

Thankfully Blaine had planned for this and called Kurt ahead of time to see if he could crash at his house in case anything happened. Fifteen minutes later Blaine was on Kurt's doorstep ringing the doorbell.

Burt answered the door took one look at Blaine and sighed. “Didn't go well?” Burt asked sadly.

“Kurt told you?”

“Yes, I mean if that's okay with you. But just so you know, kid. You can stay here as long as you need.”

“Thank you, Burt.” Blaine smiled as Burt rubbed his shoulder with a fatherly concern.

The next day Blaine went home to grab some clothes to find a note on the table that read, “Dear Blaine, we don't approve of your choices but you are welcome back for the remainder of your high school years as long as you don't speak about that to us again. –Mom and Dad.”

From that awkward night's dinner until now the meals have been eaten in almost entire silence. Blaine was upset that his parents didn't approve of him but had learned to live with the fact that he might never please them.

Once dinner was done Blaine ran up the stairs two at a time to continue his search for the song that would win Kurt's heart.

Kurt had spent most of his afternoon and evening searching for a song he could sing to Blaine. He was thankful that Blaine was his partner because he could sing anything and Blaine would love him just as much no matter how he sounded or what the song was about. He could be singing about hippos being friends with the crocodiles and he would look past the weird and realize that it was about friendship. He'd also– Oh my god. Kurt stopped mid-thought and realized what he just said to himself. Blaine would love him no matter what. Blaine loves him.

How could he have been so ignorant! Blaine has loved him for as long as he could remember. He was always a little jealous when Kurt showed interest in someone but he had always thought that he just wanted the guy Kurt was crushing on. He never thought it was him he wanted. Oh dear god. He told him the other day how Mr. Everett thought that they were dating and how insane it was. Oh no, he could just feel Blaine's heart sinking in place of Kurt's.

But did he feel the same way? He and Blaine had been friends for forever. He came out to him first, he sang his glee audition song to him first, he practiced playing the tenor with him while Blaine played his baritone for hours when they had to fight to the death to find out their chair arrangements. And when Blaine had found out that even with hours of practice under his belt that he was last chair, Kurt had been there for him. When Blaine got kicked out of his house after coming out, Kurt let him sleep on his floor. He remembered just watching his chest rise and fall when Blaine feel asleep first. He loved the way that his arms were above his head in a careless, restful sleep and how that floor was his safe haven. He loved being the person Blaine could feel safe with. And he loved that he could be the same way with Blaine. He loved Blaine.

Oh my god.

Kurt Hummel loved Blaine Anderson. He loved him with all of his heart.

Now if only he could find a song to match it.

End Notes: Ahh! Next chapter should be pretty interesting if you stick in there long enough to read it!Reviews would be much appreciated, thank you!
