Blaine didn't know what possessed him, but he slid into the seat right next to Kurt's. Kurt's head shot up and glared at Blaine for a moment, before relaxing his expression. "Hi." Blaine said, initiating the conversation since Kurt had returned to his book. Kurt looked unsure for a moment before responding, "Hi, Blaine." Blaine felt his cheeks flush slightly when his name rolled out of Kurt's perfect, red lips.

"Didn't know I was so memorable.." Blaine joked. He saw the corners of Kurt's lips lifted a bit. "I highly doubt you thought that." Blaine let out a soft laugh, his eyes still locked onto Kurt's face. 

Kurt wasn't looking at him, his eyes were still fixed on the book. This gave Blaine the opportunity to admire Kurt's features from a side view. His gaze lingered down Kurt's jaw line, admiring how defined it was. Then at his brown hair, perfectly styled. Though despite Kurt's obvious beauty, Blaine noticed there was something else about Kurt. He noticed Kurt looked tired. The way his shoulders were slumped, the way his chest heaved at an irregular rate. Kurt also had eye bags under his eyes. They weren't bad, but they were noticeable.

Kurt's head suddenly turned and frowned at him. "What are you looking at?"

"Oh, sorry. I was, urm- just uh..trying to see what book you were reading." Blaine heaved a sigh of relief when Kurt turned his attention back to his book.

"It's a-uh A Walk To Remember by Nicholas Sparks" Kurt said. 

Blaine wasn't much of a bookworm so he had no idea what the book was about. Kurt giggled a little at Blaine's confused look. "It's a movie now too.." Kurt went on.

"If it's already a movie, why bother with the book?" Blaine asked. 

"Because it's impossible for the movie to live up to the book. Nobody can fit 200 pages into a 90 minute video." Kurt rushed through.

He suddenly began coughing searingly. Blaine watched for a few seconds before placing his palm on Kurt's back and rubbing it. "Are you oka-" Kurt suddenly jumped off his seat at Blaine's contact. Blaine lifted his arms in a surrender at Kurt's sudden leapt. "Sorry. I just- you took me by surprise." Kurt said. 

"Are you okay? Do you want some water? I can go-" Blaine quietened when Kurt waved his hands. "No no. It's-I'm fine." Blaine smiled sympathetically.

Just then, their teacher walked in & asked everyone to settle down as he took out the attendance list. Blaine remained in his seat. Mr Schuester went through the list, pausing after every name for a "Here!" The door suddenly burst opened and Quinn came dashing in, looking slightly flushed. She walked on over to Blaine and dropped her gaze onto Kurt. She glared at him for a moment. "That's my sit." She said assertively. Kurt looked up at her & frowned, but before he could do or say anything, Mr Schuester cut in. 

"Miss Fabray, seeing as you're late, could you please find another seat." She glared at Kurt for a second before turning her chin up in the air & storming away to find another seat. "Sorry. She can be..sort of forceful." Blaine said, apologetically to Kurt. Kurt just smiled and turned his attention back to the teacher.

"Al right class. I'm sure you all know me by now. I'll be assigning a lot of experiments & projects to you to do in pairs-" 

Before Mr Schuester could even finish, Quinn's hand shot up. Mr Schuester sighed & pointed to Quinn. "I just wanted to ask, do we get to choose our lab partners?" Quinn shot a coquettish look at Blaine when she finished. "I was getting to that, Miss Fabray. Your lab partners, for the rest of the year, are the people sitting next to you."

Blaine felt heat rising up his neck. He turned around to look at Quinn, and the only expression she was sporting was pure rage & frustration. Blaine was glad he wasn't partnered up with her because Blaine had once been partners with Quinn for a project, and he ended up having to do all the work because Quinn spent the entire time trying to make out with Blaine.

He came back to his sense & turned to look at Kurt.
"Hi, lab partner."
