Grace in Your Heart
Stripper AU, written for GKM. When financial crisis threatens to shut down a privately funded arts program, Blaine has to decide how far he's willing to go in order to save it.
Author's Notes: Warnings: Prostitution, regret, exploration of consent, alcohol abuse. This prompt really stunned me. This verse came in pieces over the last few days, as sort of a ripple effect. I wondered about how the characters would act in it, where they'd be in their lives, and how they'd have shaped their worlds by this point. Some canon events are altered. For example: Blaine and Kurt never went to Dalton. Blaine stayed with his tormentors in his high school, burying himself in various art programs and making a break for New York the second he graduated. His father wanted him to pursue a career that was more legitimate and financially cut him off once Blaine decided to declare an arts major. Blaine saw it as emotional abandonment, even if Mr. Anderson never meant it that way. Their relationship never recovered. Burt Hummel won the bid for State Congress. Politics have come easily to him; he's now a senator. Sue's political loss unhinged her further and when she returned to McKinley, she chased Coach Beiste away. Beiste went on, taking a job as a football coach in New York, where her kids were just as troubled (if not more so) than the players in Lima. She started an after school arts program for kids. It only happens to draw in the delinquents who have no where else to go. Kurt, without Blaine to help him emotionally rebuild, was too timid to pursue his theater dreams. He went to New York with Rachel, though. He's now a fashion designer at the cusp of success. Privately, he's writing a play. Everything else will be revealed in fic.
