~November 19th, 1999~
Kurt Hummel and Blaine Anderson were destined to become friends. They both loved their action figures, playing in the sand, swing sets, and music. And above all, they loved each other.
"Blaine!" Kurt's chestnut hair blew in the autumn wind as he ran to his curly haired best friend across the playground.
"Kurt!" Blaine exclaimed as he saw who was calling his name.
Meeting in the sandbox, the two six year olds started laughing at how crazed Kurt's hair looked.
"Here," Blaine began entangling his fingers in the mass of hair atop Kurt's head. "Let me fix it."
Kurt nodded, and sighed into his embrace.
"So," Kurt opened his mouth as soon as Blaine's tanned fingers left his head. "Did you bring your Power Rangers today?"
Quickly fixing his bowtie, Blaine took out their two favorite action figures - the black and the white Power Rangers - and playfully attacked the other toys with them.
Giggling and playing, the pair began on one of their many totally awesome days together.

Sighing, the seventeen year old Kurt Hummel shut his locker after he took out his textbooks. He turned around, only to find his best friend doing the same thing at the locker next to his.
"I hate school."
Just the small comment pretty much made Kurt's day. Laughing, he shook his head. "Me, too."
"Meet me after glee club? I have to tell you something." Blaine asked.
Kurt nodded, and as they went their separate ways to the last class period, he tried to squash the hope bubbling inside of him that wished that Blaine was going to admit his feelings for Kurt.
Later that day...
"Hey there." Blaine said happily after practice was over.
"What's up?"
Taking a deep breath, Blaine replied, "Sebastian asked me out!"
The paler of the two stood there in shock. "W-w-what?"
"Well, in Bio, he asked me to help him, so I showed him how to do the packet, and he said thanks and asked me out and Kurt oh my gosh I finally have my first boyfriend I never thought this would happen and...Kurt? You okay?"
"Hm? Oh, yea, I'm fine. I...I'm just really happy for you!" Kurt tried for excitment, but it was the exact opposite of what he was feeling.
The curly haired boy was too wrapped up in his own happiness to notice his best friend's sorrow.
"Thanks! Well, I've got to head home. See ya!"
Kurt mumbled a goodbye, and turned to leave, but he was stopped soon enough.
"Kurt!" Blaine suddenly exclaimed. "Rachel's New Year's party next Saturday. You going?"
"Of course."
Blaine grinned at Kurt. "Alright! See ya!"
Little did Blaine know, as he happily walked to his car, Kurt would go to sleep crying over a broken heart that he had caused.
~December 31st, 2011 at 8:00 PM~
Kurt looked himself over in the full length mirror next to his window. He was dressed in his darkest pair of jeans, a white top, and a grey vest. He debated with a slim, black tie, but ended up without it.
He messed with his hair one more time before heading out to his car, Finn right behind him.
"Be careful tonight, boys!" Burt shouted out the door. "Be home by noon tomorrow! Love you!"
"We know, dad! We'll be fine! Love you!" Kurt called back.
As he started onto the road, Finn spoke up. "So, uh, I heard Blaine and Sebastian are dating now."
"Yea? What about it?" Kurt turned his head left, then right, and eventually merged onto the road.
"Well, now Blaine's taken, man, and that means you guys won't get to kiss at midnight, and-"
"Been talking to Rachel, now, haven't we?" The paler of the two raised an eyebrow at Finn.
Finn kept quiet.
"For your information, I do not mind that Blaine and I aren't dating, nor will we have a midnight kiss. He is my best friend. He has been for more than ten years. Nothing more."
The rest of the car ride was silent.
Fifteen minutes later...
Pulling into the Berry driveway, Kurt's stomach began to get butterflies. Why hadn't he seen Blaine's car yet? Where was he? Was he skipping the party? Sebastian probably invited him to a better party. Kurt thought, disgust for the boy creeping inside him.
"Kurt! Finn!" Rachel opened the door. "So happy you could make it!"
Kurt shook his head at Rachel's drama, and invited himself in, unraveling the scarf around his neck as he did. He was immediately welcomed by the entire Glee Club.
"Where's Blaine?" Mercedes asked.
"Yea," Rachel concurred. "I wanted to do a performance with him."
Kurt rolled his eyes. "I have no idea where he is. I imagine he is with Sebastian."
Right as he said that, the door opened to reveal a depressed-looking Blaine.
"Blaine?" Mike questioned. "What happened?"
"Sebastian and I broke up."
Blaine walked over to the drink table. Rachel's dads were away on vacation to New York, so there was plenty of alcohol. Blaine popped open a beer.
"We told you he was no good, man." Puck supplied.
"I know, I know. But, he was really fun to be with. And he took me on the best dates..."
"Honey, no one could be worth much trouble if they broke up with you after less than two weeks." Santana told him. Everyone else agreed.
Blaine shrugged.
"Well, what matters is that we're all here now, and we all love you, Blaine." Tina told him.
"Yes, Blaine, I was wondering if you wanted to do a performance with me..." Rachel was soon to pester him onto another topic.
~December 31st, 2011 at 11:55 PM~
"Kurrrrrrtttttt." Blaine whined. "Kurrrrrrrrrrrrrrttt."
"Yes, Blaine?" Kurt smirked a little at how childish Blaine looked. He was sprawled sideways across Kurt's lap, his legs on the couch pillows next to them. He looked at Kurt with his puppy dog eyes. Oh, yes, Blaine was most definitely drunk.
"Dance with me."
"No."
"But, Kurrrrttt. Pleeeaassseee?"
"Fine. But, you know I'm only doing this so that you'll stop pestering me, right?" Kurt asked, but Blaine was already leading them to the floor.
Before either of them knew it, the room was swallowed by yells of "10! 9! 8! 7!..."
They both joined in. Blaine, a little late on each one.
"3! 2! 1! Happy New Year!"
"Happy New Year, Blaine." Kurt smiled at his best friend.
But Blaine had other ideas. Full of liquid courage, he pressed his lips against Kurt's.
They pulled apart.
Kurt gasped in shock.
And then, he ran out the door.

"Kurt?" Burt called down the steps as he watched his son storm down them with tear stains on his face. "You alright, buddy?"
"I'm fine, dad. Just want some alone time."
"Well, happy new year, kiddo."
His response was a slammed door.
~January 3rd, 2012~
Kurt got to school right on time that morning, instead of his usual earliness. He quickly grabbed his books from his locker and scampered off to AP History, which just happened to be the first of many classes he and Blaine had together.
And of course, they sat next to each other.
Sliding into his seat, Kurt didn't even acknowledge his best friend.
Halfway through the class, he received a piece of paper on his desk, Blaine's neat scrawl embossed on it.
Did I do something wrong?
Kurt rolled his eyes.
Oh, nothing, just stick your tongue down my throat while you were drunk.
He heard Blaine groan softly.
Shit. I did that? I thought it was just a dream.
Nope. It was real.
I'm so, so, so sorry, Kurt.
Kurt shook his head.
I know, but now it's done.
You can't stay mad at me forever, right?
You never know. Kurt wrote back with a smug look.
Can we go back to being best friends now?
Kurt bit his lip. It was now, or waiting another year, kicking himself for not telling Blaine about his feelings.
Not before you tell me the answers to a couple questions.
Blaine gave a questioning look to the paper. Sure...
Why, Blaine? Why did you kiss me?
Out of the corner of his eye, Kurt saw Blaine closed his eyes for a moment.
Kurt, there is a moment, when you say to yourself, "Oh, there you are. I've been looking for you forever." I've known that you're the one for me for about eleven years now. I kissed you because I've been dreaming about doing it for the longest time, and yes, I was drunk, but that doesn't mean that it didn't mean anything to me.
Kurt gasped as he read the note. Blaine had always been quite the writer.
Oh.
I hope this doesn't mean our friendship is ruined.
Kurt smirked.
It does.
What?
If you'll let me, I would love to be more than your best friend.
And at that moment, the pair looked at each other, and grinned the biggest grins.

"Ewww! Daddy! Papa! You know that kissing in front of me is gross!"
Blaine and Kurt Hummel-Anderson laughed at their 5 year old daughter, Tessa. Blaine bent down to pick her up.
"Well, it's a lot better than our first kiss." Kurt supplied, looking at his husband.
Blaine glared at him as Tessa said, "Why, Papa? What happened then? Daddy? Tell me, please!"
"That's a story for when you're older, sweetheart." Blaine smiled as he looked into her hazel eyes and ruffled her chestnut brown hair.
As the Hummel-Anderson family looked out onto the New York skyline before them, fireworks exploding, people celebrating, the crystal ball glistening, and a stark white new page for each of them to write their stories, each one of them looked forward to the new year.
