“Blaine, just pick something to listen to, and please no more Pink I think I have had enough of her for the week.”
“But…”
“No, Blaine. I think it’s time we just made a playlist so we don’t have to argue about this anymore.”
“Fine. When we get to your house we are doing this.”
“Deal.”
They arrive at Kurt’s house after school and decide to make the playlist before starting their homework. How long could this take?
Longer than expected. Three hours later they are still going through music and arguing over what to add to this playlist.
“I am so tired of this craziness can we each just make our own out of songs that remind us of the other?”
“Blaine, you are a genius.”
It’s a few days later when Kurt gets the chance to show Blaine the playlist he made. Blaine scrolls through the playlist on Kurt’s iPod grinning a little thinking of all the moments they have spent together listening to the songs, or whispering the lyrics in each other’s ears in moments that needed nothing more. Out of everything in this playlist Kurt thinks his favorite song is Teenage Dream, because it really started everything. Blaine sees it in the playlist and gets this look on his face or pure adoration and something that just has to be love.
“You remember when I sang this song on the day we met? “
“Of course I remember. How could I ever forget?”
“I don’t know, maybe I’m easily forgettable.”
“You are not and you know it, you are just an idiot. That’s the moment for me about you.”
“What do you mean?”
“Blaine, you remember the day we got together right, how you said you had a moment when you realized how fabulously perfect I am?”
“Yeah… but you didn’t even know me yet.”
“No, I didn’t but I knew that I wanted to know you. Or more accurately that I needed to know you. We both know the term love at first sight, but I didn’t believe in it till I met you. I also didn’t believe that I would meet any gay guys in Ohio and look at how wrong I was.”
Blaine chuckles at that, because look at all the gay guys that have shown up in their lives in the past few months alone.
Kurt continues, “Most importantly I thought I would never find someone to spend the rest of my life with. Blaine, that moment on the staircase was more than just fate. It changed my life. It changed your life too though you wouldn’t know it at the time. Going from where I was, broken and wondering how to face another day at McKinley, to happy because I could not wait to see you. I don’t know if you know this yet or not, but we have a special relationship, and it is safe for me to say, I know you are my soul mate and I have plans Blaine, and you know you can’t change my plans.”
Somewhere in Kurt’s confession Blaine starts tearing up, he can’t help it. This is Kurt, the boy he loves.
“I love you, Kurt. I know I could never change your plans, and I wouldn’t ever want to.”
