He kept looking behind himself, over his shoulder, and out of the corner of his eye. He would have this overwhelming sense that someone was walking behind him. But when he looked, there was no one.
There was only a few more blocks til he would reach his apartment, but he was in a poorly-lit area. And he couldn’t help but be on alert.Given the recent events, Blaine kept himself at a much higher level of awareness than usual. Almost dying twice was a good way to scare yourself into being careful.
He crossed another street and stepped up onto another sidewalk when he heard a rustle of a branch. He looked up immediately and saw nothing. He paused, looking a little longer at the tree for the source of the noise. When he settled on not learning the cause, he continued walking and brought his attention back on the path in front of him. Only to find himself face to face with a dark figure, inches in front of him.
“SHIT!” He exclaimed as loud as possible. It was a sensible defense. The figure put a hand across his mouth. When Blaine’s senses sharpened, he recognized his assailant.
“Could you not?” Sebastian said very casually before removing his hand.
Blaine was breathing very heavily, clutching at his chest. “Jesus, Sebastian. I’m gonna have a heartattack if you keep sneaking up on me like that.”
Sebastian, as per usual, was terribly beautiful, with his bright eyes and clear skin, exposed under a wide v-neck t-shirt and body made known with his skin-tight jeans. His hair was tousled like it had been before. His lips, however, were paler than usual.
He stepped closer and put his hand over Blaine’s heart. “I just really enjoy hearing that thing beat faster.” He smirked. He then ran his fingers down Blaine’s chest.
Blaine’s heart didn’t slow much. Something about Sebastian’s presence already made his hair stand on end. His skin prickled all over. It was probably his more-intelligent instincts telling him to run, to escape. Everything about Sebastian was predator.
Sebastian’s hand returned to his own side. “I was just in the neighborhood. I heard you coming.”
“You were in the neighborhood four blocks ago?”
“Yes.”
“You were by the police station?”
Sebastian paused. “Yes.”
“What’s going on?”
“Nothing.”
“Sebastian.” Blaine huffed in a warning tone.
“Just a minor problem I had to attend to.”
Blaine eyed Sebastian up and down. He didn’t seem to show any signs of a struggle (if it could even be called a “struggle” …usually Sebastian could tear someone in half with next-to no effort). His eyes moved back up to the man’s, only to see them much darker than usual. And not just because of the lack of lighting.
“Sebastian?”
“I’ve been waiting all day to see you.”
Blaine’s heart quickened. Sebastian stepped closer still and lowered his head down, moving his ear next to Blaine’s pulse point on his neck. Sebastian’s eyes rolled back into his head as he took a deep breath, indulging in his favorite scent.
Sebastian moved a hand up behind Blaine’s neck, holding him in place. Sebastian took another deep breath.
“Sebastian, I need to get home.”
Sebastian released him calmly, stepping back and giving Blaine an exaggerated pout. He closed his eyes and shook his head. “Fine.” He looked back up at Blaine. “Go home.”
Blaine looked confused. “Um, ok. Good night, I guess. I’ll see you around.”
He stepped around Sebastian, taking a few long quick strides in the direction of his apartment when he heard a loud rustle of another tree above him. He looked up just in time to catch a glimpse of movement coming down in front of him again. When he looked forward, once again, Sebastian was in front of him, blocking his path.
Blaine sighed in frustration. “Sebastian I just told you that I’m trying to get home.”
“Then go home.”
Blaine blinked. “Ok. Bye.” He spat with as much annoyance as he could manage.
He started walking again, faster now, crossing another street. He could see the light on his apartment complex’s porch. As he stepped back onto another sidewalk, the blur that was Sebastian raced back in front of him.
“Sebastian!” Blaine all but yelled. “What do you want?”
As Blaine stepped closer, he could see Sebastian’s eyes had darkened even more and were trained on Blaine’s body.
“I don’t want anything.” Sebastian’s smile grew into a wicked grin. “But maybe you want to invite me back with you?”
Blaine swallowed. He stuttered when he finally found his response. “N-No. No, Sebastian.”
“That didn’t sound so sure. And your heart made a sharp beat.”
“I’m not interested.”
“Is it because I’m a demon?”
“Yes, actually, that’s exactly why I don’t want you to come home with me.” Blaine’s voice cracked near the end.
Sebastian just continued smirking, very pleased with himself and his cornered prey. “Demons can be very pleasurable company. When they want to be.”
Blaine’s Adams apple bobbed as he tried to swallow back a growing moan. Sebastian had a talent, he was starting to suspect, of controlling more things than he’d care to tell. Something about the air changed and he could feel himself becoming aroused.
“No. I’m over this. I’m going home. Alone.” Blaine said with finality. “Good night Sebastian.”
Sebastian didn’t follow him again.
He just yelled from where he stood as Blaine stomped away. “I’ve got plenty of time, darling. That restraint of yours won’t outlast me.”
Blaine chanced a glance behind himself as he gave Sebastian a disgusted look.
Sebastian just mocked him further. “Yes, straight ahead, dear! Follow the light, love!”
Blaine turned and shook his head quickly, picking up his pace as he marched home, nearly at his apartment. He all but disappeared to the untalented eye. Sebastian’s smile shrunk to an arrogant grin. He lowered his voice down to a growl as he swore to himself, his eyes blacking completely. “Only a matter of time.”
