Kurt stopped folding. “What?”
“‘Any plans this weekend?’ ‘Just hanging with the boyfriend. You?’” Sebastian read from Kurt’s phone. “‘Lucky. No plans for me. Here by my lonesome.’ ‘Well maybe I’ll be able to come see you whenever Sebastian goes out with his friends.’” Sebastian’s tone elevated as he read the last sentence.
Kurt turned around. “Why are you going through my phone again?” He stepped towards Sebastian reaching for his cell. When Sebastian shut it and tossed it at him, Kurt luckily caught it before it could fall to the floor. “What’s your problem?”
Sebastian walked into the kitchen. His annoyance bellowed into the living room.
“My problem is that you still talk to Blaine the way you used to. It’s almost like you never broke up at all.”
Kurt rolled his eyes at the ceiling.
Kurt and Blaine had broken up before his 3rd year at NYADA. It didn’t work out like the fairytale they had hoped for, and so they decided they would be better as friends. A year later, Sebastian had moved to New York and back into their lives after he pursued Blaine (again) and ended up becoming close friends with Kurt.
At some point, through the fighting and bickering about unimportant issues, Sebastian had asked him on a date. The chemistry was surprising to both of them, though neither of them wanted to admit it. He and Sebastian had been together for a year now. (Well, exclusive for a year.) And had just moved in together two months ago.
Kurt and Blaine had remained friends through the whole thing. After all, they had always been best friends. They were too important to each other to let go entirely.
“All I meant was that while you were out seeing your friends I would go see mine.” Kurt tried to reason. “You don’t need to freak out.”
Kurt knew that would rub Sebastian wrong. He stormed back into the living room where Kurt was folding laundry. “I’m freaking out because this is always how you talk to him. And he doesn’t have a boyfriend. Can you really blame me for being a little suspicious? You two used to be practically married.”
“Sebastian, enough!” Kurt yelled.
The room silenced. They both stared at each other, angry and unmoving.
“If you’ve got something to say,” Kurt said carefully. “then you’d better say it and get it out.”
Sebastian swallowed. “I think you’re fooling around with him when I’m out.”
Kurt gasped. “Wh-What?”
Sebastian’s eyes started to water.
“I would never cheat on you.”
“Oh yeah?” Sebastian’s voice wasn’t broken yet, but it had to be close. “Not even with your former dream man?”
“Blaine and I ended that relationship a long time ago, Sebastian. He’s still my best friend, just as he’s always been. You said that you were fine with it. You used to have feelings for Blaine too, for Christ’s sake.”
“Ok, first of all, I never had feelings for Blaine. For a period of time, I had a schoolboy fetish and I wanted to fuck Blaine.” Sebastian stabbed. Pain reflected on Kurt’s face.
“And secondly, I can’t help but feel like it’s more than friendship between you two when I see texts like that. Or when you take cutesy fucking photos on Facebook together. Or when you talk about all your friends from high school and the victory parties you went to together.”
Kurt watched Sebastian spill his accusations on the floor.
“I just feel like,” And now a few tears had pushed past Sebastian’s eyes. “because we don’t have things like that together, that I don’t mean as much to you as Blaine apparently does.”
“No no no, Sebastian, no.” Kurt stepped forward and closed the few feet between them, taking Sebastian’s face between his hands. He kissed him gently a few times, then swiped his thumbs across Sebastian’s cheeks, clearing the tears. He smiled at his sometimes-over-emotional boyfriend.
Sebastian’s hands moved to Kurt’s sides and grabbed his t-shirt.“You don’t have to worry about things like that. You and I have a lot of things that I don’t share with anybody in the world. That’s what makes us us.” Kurt soothed.
Sebastian looked in his eyes. “Like what?”
Kurt laughed. “You kidding? Lots of things!” Kurt kissed him again, pulling back only an inch or two before continuing. “Eating sushi.” Kiss. “Our fondness for Sheep dogs.” Kiss. “Our career choices.” Kiss. “We make fun of Blaine’s wardrobe.” A longer kiss. “We both think that you’re sexy.” A kiss to Sebastian’s neck.
Sebastian chuckled. “Yes. Yes we do.” Sebastian kissed Kurt, opening his mouth just slightly to elongate the kiss. His arms wrapped around Kurt’s waist and pulled him closer. “We also think that you’re sexy.”
Kurt smirked and nodded. “See?”
Sebastian tightened his arms and pulled Kurt completely against him. “And I know that little spot that makes you feel sexy.” He kissed behind Kurt’s ear and breathed next to it.
Kurt blushed. “You mean it makes you too proud of yourself.” He tried to control his heart rate, but his arousal was already getting a head-start.
Sebastian tilted his head away. “I’m sorry.” He said gently, with sincerity in his eyes.
Kurt looked up at his boyfriend’s eyes. “I don’t mean to make you worry.”
He sighed and put his head underneath Sebastian’s chin. They stood like that for a long time, holding each other and letting the previous argument melt away.
Sebastian smiled. “I’ll probably worry a lot. You’re quite a catch. I don’t really know why you stuck yourself with me, anyway.”
Kurt lifted his head and caught Sebastian’s lips in a quick but hungry kiss. “Well I’ll always be happy to reassure you.” He stepped past Sebastian, towards his bedroom, pulling him by the shirt.
