Cuz You Wanna Take My Picture

I was hoping that we could take a picture. So I could have a piece of us with me for when it gets bad.

Author's Notes: During a discussion of how Kurt possible got his hands on that picture of Blaine in his locker, I came up with this idea for a fic. I meant it to be...flirtier, but this is what came out. Through 2.18. Title is from "Take A Picture" by Filter.
“Hey, are you okay?” Blaine asked, his voice gentle. Kurt turned his head, looking his boyfriend.

“Hmmm?”

“That’s what I’m talking about,” Blaine said. “You’ve been distracted all day.” Kurt blushed a little, embarrassed.

“Sorry,” he replied, his voice quiet.

“Don’t be sorry,” Blaine told him. “Tell me what’s wrong.”

“Nothing is wrong,” Kurt denied.

“Something is obviously bothering you, Kurt,” Blaine looked concerned. “Please tell me. Is it about going back to McKinley tomorrow?”

“No – I – Not exactly.”

“Spill,” Blaine ordered. The two of them were in Kurt’s bedroom, having spent the day watching movies and hanging out(making out) – Blaine wanting Kurt to have one last carefree day before going back to McKinley.

“This is going to sound kind of stupid and crazy,” Kurt said, biting his lip. “Do you remember when we met?”

“Of course,” Blaine smiled, the smile that always made Kurt melt inside.

“Well, when I got home, I did some research online about Dalton and I came across your picture on the school website.”

“Kurt , I -” Blaine started to say, clearly unsure where Kurt was going with this.

“I printed it out and put it in my locker,” Kurt mumbled under his breath.

“What?”

“I said ‘I printed it out and put it in my locker'.” He gave Blaine a sidelong glance from where they sat next to each other on the bed. “I know, it’s crazy and -”

“Adorable.” Blaine cut him off. “Why do I find everything you do adorable?”

“I have absolutely no idea.” Kurt blushed again, staring into Blaine’s eyes. He took a deep breath, and continued. “I was hoping…that we could take a picture. So I could have a piece of us with me – for when it gets bad.” There were no if’s about it. They were under no illusions about Kurt going back – Karofsky and the other jocks would still be there.

“You don’t even have to ask.” Blaine smiled at him again and Kurt felt himself smiling back.

“Good,” he said. “I’m going to turn it into a collage, and put a few other pictures on it too.”

“It’ll be amazing.”

“Blaine.”

“What?”

“Stop looking at me like that.”

“Like what?”

“Like that,” Kurt bumped Blaine’s shoulder with his own. “It makes me…”

“Makes you what?” Blaine whispered, his eyes darkening. His gaze dropped to Kurt’s lips.

“Stop that.” Kurt got off the bed. “I am not fixing my hair again, Mister.” Blaine just laughed. “Come on, let’s go take this picture before you get handsy.”

“You like it when I get handsy,” Blaine replied, as Kurt took his hand and pulled him from the room.

The next morning, Kurt pulled into McKinley a half hour earlier than he normally would. He made a quick stop at the office to get his class schedule and new locker assignment – though no longer two lockers down from Mercedes, he was still in the same hallway.

The halls were empty as he came to a stop at his new locker and opened it. He set his bag inside, pulling out his newly made collage and some tape, hanging it on the door of his locker first thing. Blaine’s picture was still at the top, the word courage underneath it. Next to that, he’d put a picture of his and Blaine’s duet at Regionals – Mercedes had taken it on her phone and sent him a copy – and finally the picture that he and Blaine had taken the day before.

After corralling Finn into taking the photo (and painstakingly explaining how the camera worked – twice), and several shots later, Kurt had finally had a picture he was satisfied with – He and Blaine cuddled together under a tree in the backyard, smiling at each other. It was just a fluke that Finn had caught the shot. Kurt had been surprised when he’d seen it. Underneath that picture, he’d cut out more letters from an old Vogue and spelled out Love.

The first bell rang, and kids starting filling the hallway, making Kurt feel slightly claustrophobic. Still, he stared at the collage one last time and smiled.
