Of course Kurt thought that Ian was a Warbler. Kurt hadn’t been the only boy at Dalton drooling over Blaine in junior year; he just happened to be the only lucky one, and as he continued onto his senior year, he still felt insanely lucky. He felt lucky to be able to call Blaine his boyfriend, to hold Blaine’s hand whenever he wanted, and he definitely felt lucky to be the only other boy to ever sleep in Blaine’s bed. But the thing is, there was no way for him to find this guy Blaine allegedly hooked up with after Kurt moved to New York. All he knew was that it wasn’t Sebastian, and that it was Kurt’s fault for abandoning Blaine, not that Blaine would ever say it in those words. Yeah, Blaine probably met Ian, a pretty little rich boy who had just transferred to Dalton, on one of his famous nostalgia visits back to his old school. But Kurt didn’t even know the kid’s real name, which may have made finding him a little difficult, but after nights of loathing whoever this guy was, Kurt just needed something to call him other than “that slut.” A real name. He had always thought the name Ian to be annoying, he had never met an Ian he hadn’t disliked on some level, and the name itself was just phonically unpleasant, so “Ian” it was, and of course he a Warbler, Kurt thought before hitting the “Ignore” button on his phone when it began playing a measure of “Single Ladies” and Blaine’s picture popped up. Kurt may have been able to ignore Blaine’s calls, but he just didn’t have the heart to delete Blaine’s number.
Two weeks earlier, the exact same picture of Blaine had appeared on Eli Carlton’s computer screen, pulling him out of his drunken state. Holy shit. Aiden had told him this dude was eye candy, but Eli never expected him to be this attractive. Aiden didn’t really tell him that much about Blaine, but fortunately the few things Eli did remember him saying earlier that night at Scandals were the important things. He was gay, and rumor had it he was nearing the event a nasty breakup with his long distance boyfriend. He used to go to school with Aiden, and according to him, every boy at Dalton, gay and straight alike, would get a boner when this kid walked by. His name was Blaine Anderson. He was gorgeous, Aiden had told him, which was clearly no lie, and maybe if a countless number of shots wasn’t blocking off his judgement, Eli would’ve waited a few days to contact Blaine, or to at least get some more information on the guy, but without a second thought, he was on Blaine’s Facebook page, messaging him a drunken rant praising his good looks, telling him not to be down about his boyfriend; sometimes people just grow apart.
That idea had just started to seep through Blaine’s mind when he read Eli’s message. He loved Kurt, God knew that, but maybe they weren’t meant to be together, he thought. That’s what motivated him to finally press the “Confirm” button on Eli’s friend request, and continued to motivate him all the way over to Eli’s house.
