As Kurt sank down into their booth at McClaren’s, he could already feel the stress of the day lessening. He was currently up for a promotion at Vogue. Kurt loved his job and was good at it, but he had been putting in a lot of extra hours and taking on extra work in hopes of securing the new position.

He was the first to arrive and ordered his drink while he waited for the rest of the gang.

Sipping on his cosmo, he heard the door open. He looked up hoping it was Blaine. Although they had seen each other only 8 hours ago and texted all day long, Kurt always looked forward to seeing Blaine after work. It made him feel complete.

Although it wasn’t Blaine who had arrived, Kurt still smiled to see Dave walking towards him.

“You will never guess what happened today?” Dave said as he took a seat across from Kurt, skipping any sort of greeting.

“Hello to you too, David.” Kurt smiled fondly at his friend. He could have guessed that whatever happened with Dave that day had something to do with his quest for true love, but instead he let Dave begin his story.

After Dave had ordered his beer, he turned to Kurt with a big smile on his face.

“Ok so today at work, we had a meeting with another charity to discuss planning a joint fundraiser for the new youth center. I was in the conference room when their event planner came in. I am pretty sure it was love at first sight. We just clicked.” Dave began gushing about how attractive and kind and funny this new guy was.

Kurt didn’t mean to tune out Dave, but his mind began to wonder. He was thinking about how proud he was of Dave and how much he had grown since high school. Dave was now open and working for a LGBT charity. Although Dave was happy with his job and friends, he was always looking for his future husband.

“Oh god, Dave your vagina is showing.”

Kurt snapped back to the present just in time to see Sebastian pushing Dave over so he could slide into the booth.

Apparently Sebastian had arrived just in time to hear the end of Dave’s story.

“I really wish you would stop all this love nonsense and spend more time focusing on being my wingman. Do you know I have had to call on the Warblers the last two times I have gone out?”

Dave started to defend himself, but Sebastian quickly cut him off.

“Not cool, man. Not cool”

Kurt turned again when he heard the door open, only to see Santana walk in.

“I am going to pretend that I didn’t just see you get disappointed when you saw me,” Santana snipped as she sank into the booth next to Kurt.

“Sorry San. I was just hoping you were Blaine.”

“We know!” all three of his friends replied, sounding exasperated but still smiling.

Before Kurt could jump in, Santana and Sebastian began their usual banter about who was tapping whom and Kurt could see Dave texting away on his phone, probably with the guy he met at work. He got up to go order another drink at the bar.

Leaning against the bar, he looked back at their booth and smiled. Kurt did not know how he got to this point in his life, but he couldn’t be happier. He lived in a small, but rent controlled apartment, working his dream job, and surrounded by amazing friends. To top it all off, he had Blaine in his life.

“Hey handsome. Can I buy you a drink?”

Kurt felt the familiar tingle go up his spine as he turned to see Blaine sliding alongside him at the bar. He couldn’t keep the smile off his face.

“Actually I am meeting someone here,” Kurt answered with a coy smile on his face.

“Oh really, anyone special?” asked Blaine, leaning closer.

Kurt felt his pulse quicken and his heart jump a little as Blaine got closer. No matter how long they were together, Kurt could not stop his body’s reaction to Blaine.

“Just some guy,” replied Kurt right before Blaine closed the gap between their lips.

The kiss was chaste, but sweet and just what Kurt needed at the end of a long day at work.

After they pulled apart, Kurt slipped his hand into Blaine’s twinning their fingers together and led him to their booth. Santana had moved over to a chair at the end of the table and the pair took their seats on the bench.

Now this is perfect, thought Kurt as he leaned into Blaine’s side.
