Blaine flinched as he received an icy glare while walking alone in the halls of McKinley. Normally he'd just let this roll off his back but the glare came from no bully or jock. It came from the piercing blue eyes of his boyfriend Kurt Hummel. Blaine shot Kurt a sad look but Kurt, as usual was stubborn but didn't let up.

Blaine sighed and continued his journey down the hallway. He was hurt. The fight they'd gotten into was stupid . He still didn't totally understand what happened, he just knew he felt terrible about upsetting Kurt. Blaine didn't care who was right or wrong, he just wanted his boyfriend back.

"Kurt!" "Blaine!" They laughed because they'd just run into each other and called out the other's name at the same time.

"Go ahead," Blaine said being the gentleman that he was.

"No you," Kurt said smiling, "I always go first."

"So I'm thinking of going for that solo that Mr. Schue was talking about," Blaine said beaming. It was the first time he'd thought about going for a solo since he'd left the Warblers.

Kurt froze. "What's wrong?" Blaine asked, the smile fell from his face.

"I was going to tell you that I was going for that solo," he said looking down.

"Well, that's okay!" Blaine said trying to stay optimistic, "We're not against each other and if either of us gets it we'll be happy for each other!"

"I don't think you understand."

"No… I really don't."

"I never get solos, Blaine."

The fight just escalated from there. Blaine didn't understand at all. It was just a solo in the high school Glee club. Why was Kurt so upset about it?

Blaine was on his way to the parking lot to meet Rachel Berry who asked him specifically not to be late. Every time he saw that girl he had flashbacks of a drunken time that he'd rather not remember. He had to stop himself from shuttering as she and her boyfriend and Kurt's stepbrother Finn came into view.

"Hello Rachel," he said, "To what do I owe the pleasure?"

"What's been going with you and Kurt?" she said. Clearly she was not beating around the bush. When Blaine had gotten to McKinley he had received his fair share of "you hurt Kurt and I hurt you"s from several people namely Finn, Mercedes, Puck and the guys in Glee who were also on the football team.

Blaine sighed at Kurt's question, "It's really stupid." He was trying to think of a way to make himself not come off as a bad guy. Especially with Finn standing there. As long as Blaine was being honest, he was afraid of upsetting Finn. While a gentle giant, Blaine was sure that Finn could probably pound most guys into the ground when angered.

"What do you mean?" Rachel asked crossing her arms. Blaine could tell she was assuming the worst but as he recounted the story Rachel's expression softened and Finn nodded understandingly.

"I don't get what the big deal is," Blaine said with a shrug at the end of his story.

"Oh Blaine," Rachel said with a chuckle, "Don't you see that the solo is a metaphor for something much bigger? Kurt almost never gets what he wants and it hurts his pride more than he'd like to show. Can you blame him for being a little upset? I mean, he almost lost you to someone else twice."

Blaine looked at the ground completely embarrassed. He couldn't believe that he'd missed that. How could he not notice that quality in his own boyfriend?

"What should I do?" Blaine asked looking to the couple for advice.

"You could sing to him. Rachel sang 'The Only Exception ' by Paramore to me when we had a fight once last year," Finn said. Rachel nodded in agreement, "Yes! You should sing to him! He'd love that!"

"Oh no," Blaine said, "I know you weren't there but the last time I tried to get someone by singing to them, it didn't go so well." Blaine thought back to the Warblers' Gap Attack last Valentine's Day. What even crossed his mind to make him want to sing 'When I Get You Alone' to a guy who wasn't even out in the middle of his work place?

"Yes but we heard about it," Rachel said, "But you weren't really in love with that guy. You do love Kurt, right?"

"Of course I do!" Blaine answered, appalled that Rachel had doubted his affections.

"Well then this should be easy. Really all you need is the song. Do you have anything in mind?"

When Blaine thought about it only one song stuck in his mind. "Yeah," he grinned, "I've got the perfect song in mind."

In glee club that afternoon, it was the third day that Blaine and Kurt weren't sitting side by side. Blaine didn't look at him. He couldn't. His heart was bound to thump right out of his chest. The last time he was this nervous to sing a solo was when he sang 'Somewhere Only We Know' to Kurt in the courtyard last year.

When Mr. Schuester came in rattling off songs for their set list, Blaine's hand shot up.

"Yes, Blaine?" he asked.

"I've prepared something…" Blaine said in a small voice.

"Uhm… sure. The floor is your's."

Blaine stood up from his chair and picked up the neared acoustic guitar then faced the Glee club. He didn't look at Kurt directly because he was afraid his nerves would get the best of him.

"I've listened to this sound about a thousand times and I've practiced it with the band here a few times so it's a little rusty. But me being oblivious as we know I can be, I didn't seem to realize why I liked it so much," he then turned to look at Kurt, whose eyes were still icy but a bit softer, "This is for you Kurt."

He began with the first chords of the song receiving thumbs up from Rachel and Finn.

When the world gets too heavy

Put it on my back

I'll be your levy

You are taking me apart

Like bad glue

On a get well card

It was always you

Falling for me

Now there's always time

Calling for me

I'm the light blinking at the end of the road

Blink back to let me know

The band kicked in and Blaine was staring at Kurt. For the moment everyone else seemed to disappear and it was only Blaine, Kurt, and the music.

I'm a fly that's trapped

In a web

But I'm thinking that

My spider's dead

Oh, lonely, lonely little life

I could kid myself

Thinking that I'm fine

It was always you

Falling for me

Now there's always time

Calling for me

I'm the light blinking at the end of the road

Blink back to let me know

That I'm skin and bone

Just a cane and rusty throne

Oh, the castle's under siege

But the sign outside says "Leave me alone"

It was always you

Falling for me

Now there's always time

Calling for me

I'm the light blinking at the end of the road

Blink back to let me know

(It was always you)

Blink back to let me know

(It was always you

At the end of the song Blaine looked at Kurt and had to try to keep himself from tearing up. Why was it whenever he sang to Kurt he felt like tearing up?

"I guess what I'm trying to say in that I love you, Kurt," he smiled, "I love you more than I love cheese, jumping on furniture, and singing solos. That's a lot."

Kurt didn't say anything. He simply stared and looked like he was on the verge of crying. Everyone clapped as Blaine took his seat again. The rest of the time during glee Blaine's mind wouldn't shut up. Kurt didn't like it. That's why he didn't say anything. It was the wrong song. You're so bad at romance. Serenading him? Really? When he's pissed? Come on, Blaine.

When the club was dismissed Blaine made his way to his locker and opened it to retrieve his things. He sighed and looked at the inside of his door which contained many pictures from when he was still as Dalton with Warblers and some of him and the Glee guys. There were multiple pictures of him and Kurt. Normally they made him smile but right now they just made him a little sad. He hated fighting with Kurt.

When he finished gathering his things he turned around and saw Kurt, himself, standing there.

"Hi," Blaine said in a small voice, feeling his face heat up.

"Hi," Kurt replied staring at Blaine with an unreadable expression.

After a few moments of silence they both burst out, "I'm sorry! No, I'm sorry!"

"Wait," Kurt said, "Why are you sorry?"

"I feel awful for upsetting you. Then I embarrassed you in front of the whole glee club. I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have sang that…"

"What are you talking about?" Kurt asked, "I shouldn't have gotten upset with you. About a silly solo in the glee club? You mean so much more to me than that. And your song was beautiful. I can't believe you haven't had me listen to it before."

Blaine smiled a little bit, "Thanks."

"Come here you," Kurt said holding out his arms. Blaine immediately dropped his backpack and ran into the arms of his boyfriend. Blaine leaned in to kiss him but hesitated in case wasn't okay for the moment. He responded enthusiastically when Kurt decided to meet him in the middle.

"This is going to sound really corny," he said when they broke apart, "But let's never fight again. I don't think my heart can take it."

"Deal."
