Kurt and Blaine were in the car, on a Saturday afternoon, just driving around Lima with no destination in mind, when Kurt grabbed Blaine's iPod where it was hooked onto his car.
"Hey, what are you doing?" Blaine asked, turning onto Orchid Street.
"Nothing." Kurt said, innocently. Kurt looked through Blaine's iPod, looking at all the artists on there. "Really, Blaine? Christina, Madonna, Katy Perry, Pink?"
Blaine straightened up in his seat and said, "I can be a strong, independent woman too."
Kurt laughed and scrolled through the songs. Kurt gave Blaine a slight smile before choosing a song on his iPod. Soon the sounds of Pink's song, "Perfect" came wafting through the speakers, along with Kurt's voice.
"Made a wrong turn, once or twice. Dug my way out, blood and fire. Bad decisions, that's alright. Welcome to my silly life."
Blaine stifled a chuckle as he watched Kurt out of the corner of his eye. Kurt was so cute when he was singing. Kurt flashed a wink towards Blaine and then nudged him when the chorus was coming up. Blaine laughed and started singing.
"Pretty, pretty please, don't you ever, ever feel like you're less than, less than perfect. Pretty, pretty please, if you ever, ever feel like you're nothing, you are perfect to me."
Blaine let Kurt take over the second verse again because he loved the sound of his boyfriend's voice. It was the sound of angels, he would swear. But Kurt wasn't having any of it. He made gestures to Blaine with his hands to show Blaine that he should echo Kurt after each line.
"Change the voices..." Kurt sang.
"Change the voices..." Blaine repeated.
"In your head."
"In your head."
They shared a smile and started up the chorus again. Kurt shook his head when Blaine wanted him to go along with the rap part, which left Blaine to sing it.
"The whole's world scared so I swallow the fear. The only thing I should be drinking is an ice-cold beer."
Kurt giggled. His boyfriend's rapping skills are okay at best but he was cute when he did that.
"Oh, pretty, pretty, please." Kurt sang, making pleading gestures with his hands.
"Pretty, pretty, please, if you ever feel like you are nothing. You are perfect to me." They sang.
"You are perfect." Blaine sang, looking at Kurt straight in the eye.
Kurt blushed and sang the last line out, "You are perfect to me."
The car had stopped for a while. They were at the entrance of a little park in Lima. Kurt giggled and said, "Well, I think we found a new song to sing." Blaine laughed and got out of the car. He walked over to the other side and opened the door for Kurt. "Why, so chivalrous." Kurt said, grabbing Blaine's hand as he got down.
Blaine winked and said, "I was raised to be a gentleman." They linked hands and walked towards the park.
Later that day, as they were watching the sunset, Kurt kissed Blaine's temple and said, "You are perfect to me." Blaine grinned and snuggled closer into Kurt's chest. And from that day onwards, Perfect would always be the song they sang to each other in the car.
