Dream Chaser

I was listening to Bruno Mars' song "It Will Rain" and it was late at night. So I needed to write something angsty and just sad. So here it is.

"Blaine, I can't do this anymore! I just can't. I'm done." Kurt turned away on a heel and stormed out of the house. Blaine slumped down on their couch. They had just gotten into a fight again about their futures.

Kurt was really hitting it big on Broadway but Blaine had gotten some interest from producers in L.A. Cooper had actually gotten him an audition that was a few weeks away but ever since Blaine had brought it up, Kurt went immediately into freak-out mood. They ended up fighting about it every night since Blaine told him. Tonight had been extremely bad. Blaine was worn-down from fighting with Kurt all time and Kurt was just tired from all his practicing and auditioning. Blaine had walked into the house, preparing himself for another fight with Kurt, if he decided to start another one today. He had found him on the couch, flipping through the newest edition of Vogue.

"Hey, honey." Blaine said, hoping to stay away from a fight today.

"Hey." Kurt said, coldly.

Blaine sighed and set his bag down on the kitchen counter. He really didn't want to do this tonight.

Everything was tense and quiet in the room until Kurt said, "So Cooper called earlier. He said that he wanted to know your travel plans for going to California. He seemed pretty excited about it."

Blaine sighed, knowing that this was coming. "Oh, well, I'll try to get back to him on that." Blaine could hear the magazine snap shut.

"Oh, so you're only booking a flight for one, right? Since there's no way in hell I'm leaving my life here to follow you across the country."

"Kurt, it's only an audition. It's not like I'm asking you to move across the country."

"Well, you might as well be! What if you get that role? You'll be in California with your brother! And even if you don't get that role, then there will be other producers and more auditions." Kurt had made his way to stand in front of Blaine, hands on his hips.

Something inside Blaine had snapped in that moment. He couldn't deal with this anymore. "Okay, yeah? And so what? What if I get that role? What if I get other auditions? This is a chance to make my dreams come true, Kurt! You're not the only one who deserves a shot at their dreams."

Kurt's eyes widened. "Excuse me? Well, I'm sorry if I'm trying to make something of myself here. I didn't leave Ohio just to live a sad existence here! I left Ohio to become a star! I'm sorry that I won't willingly give up everything I have to follow you like a puppy!"

"Yeah, we've established that, Kurt! I know that you're not going to follow me anywhere if that jeopardizes your chances of making your dreams come true! But Kurt, you're not the only one who wanted to leave Lima. You didn't think that I didn't wish that all senior year? You didn't think that I wanted to leave Ohio and live somewhere else? A place where my dreams can come true too?" Blaine could feel tears around the edges of his eyes but he blinked them back. His anger was coiling around him and controlling his brain.

"Okay. So why did you move to New York with me, huh? If you wanted your dreams to come true so badly, then why didn't you move straight to Los Angeles with your brother? He would've loved to be with you all this time!"

"Because I love you, Kurt! I couldn't stand being without you. But-"

"But what, Blaine? Hmm? Suddenly I'm not enough for you anymore? Is that what you're trying to say?"

"No, Kurt! I'm not trying to say that. I just don't know why you won't support my dreams the same way I've supported yours."

"And how have you supported my dreams when all you can talk about right now is moving to L.A. with Cooper? How in the hell is that helping me?"

"Who spent hours with you running your lines? Who brought you coffees all night when you were looking over your script? Who was calming you down when you couldn't decide on an audition song or outfit? Who was there by your side when you were anxiously waiting by the phone for the producers to call you back? Who was there celebrating with you when you got all those roles? Did you ever think of the scarifies I made to help make your dreams come true?"

"Oh, yeah because you were sacrificing so much to help my dreams! Blaine, I need you to be serious about this. This is our shot to take New York by storm but if you're going to throw it all away to chase some pipe dream in Los Angeles then I won't stop you!" Blaine could hardly believe what he was hearing.

"You know what, Kurt? You're being selfish and mean. Ever since producers and directors have noticed you in this town, your ego is getting bigger by the minute. All you think about is yourself. When was the last time we went out for dinner? When was the last time you asked me how I was doing in my productions? Sure, I wasn't the lead or anything but you could at least pretend to care! But, no, all I ever hear from you is me, me, me. Well, I'm getting tired of this, Kurt! I'm getting really tired of it and I just might take up Cooper's offer to go to L.A!"

Kurt threw up his hands in surrender and said, "Blaine, I can't do this anymore! I just can't. I'm done." He ran out of the house and Blaine was left there, all alone. He picked up his cellphone and dialed.

"Hey, little bro! What's up?" Cooper's voice filled his ear.

"Hey, Coop. I think I'll be in L.A. a little early." Blaine said, looking out the window at noisy New York. Blaine had always thought that Kurt and he were on the same page. They always wanted the same thing but it turns out that everything changes too quickly. They weren't even chasing the same dream anymore.

End Notes: I really hate leaving stories on a bad note I just hate myself when I do that. But I'm just leaving it as it is.
