As Long As We Have Each Other

"How'd -how d'you feel?""Horrible.""I-is there anything I can do?""Never leave me?"Drabble to my fic 'I'm Never Saying Goodbye to You'. (You don't have to have read that to understand this or whatever..)(And, Kurt has cancer in this, just fyi, so if you don't like that 'sort of stuff' I suggest you don't read this.)Suggested, sort of, by scarvesandklainebowties. And I know you wanted a multi-chapter thingy, but I don't think I'll be able to have time for that right now.. But I'll probably write a few more oneshots to this story so, hope that'll do. ;)

Author's Notes: I couldn't believe that I actually got a request, so I just had to 'follow' it, or do as the request asked. (I don't know how to say that normally...) Because omg someone requested me to write something. And that's freaking unreal in my world..So thank you whoever you are and hope you'll read this, otherwise this'll be sort of a fail ^^

”Kurt, what’s wrong? You look so troubled, what wrong?”

“I –“ Kurt sighed heavily, burying his gorgeous face in his knees.

“Please talk to me…” Blaine whispered when he heard his husband’s breath becoming uneven.

“Blaine…” Kurt whispered and looked up, meeting the other man’s gaze. There were tears in his eyes, threatening to fall down his perfect cheeks, and Blaine wanted nothing more than to reach out and wipe them away. Only, the next words stopped him.

“I have… I have cancer…” the cyan eyed male whispered with horror-filled eyes and Blaine’s heart stopped.

“W –What?” he managed after a moment of silence.

“Please don’t make me say it again…”

“Oh, no… of course not just… When’d you –?” he went silent, not able to carry on.

“Yesterday.”

“Right…” Blaine stared in front of him, eyes dimmed with tears. His heart beat hard in his chest and his head was spinning.

“Is there anything they can… do?”

“Yeah. But there’s no hundred percent guaranty that I’ll be cured.”

“Oh honey… How’d –how d’you feel?” Stupid question. Stupid, stupid question. But Blaine was in shock and his brain wasn’t really able to function normally.

Kurt smiled sadly. “Horrible.”

“I –is there anything I can do?”

“Never leave me?”

Blaine looked at his husband, the love of his life as he’d so romantically put it way back in high school, for a second, then took his hand and looked deep into his worried cyan eyes.

“Never.” he assured.

“I love you.” Kurt whispered and Blaine’s heart melted. Those three words… They still did weird stuff to his body, still affected him and made him feel a thousand times better. Still after all these years.

“I love you too.” he replied and pulled Kurt into a tight hug. “And that will never change. No matter how hard this will be… I’ll always be at your side.”

“You’ll regret saying that.” Blaine heard Kurt mutter and he pulled away, giving him a serious look.

“Kidding.” Kurt chuckled, but he couldn’t fool him. He knew that it wasn’t a joke, not entirely at least.

“Kurt, listen to me. Are you listening to me?” the taller nodded, smiling a little at his husbands words.

“I’m not leaving. It’s a promise.” he grabbed Kurt’s left hand with his own. “Look at this,” he mumbled softly, ghosting a thumb over their intertwined fingers, over the thin silver rings decorating their left ring fingers.

“As long as these are here, I swear there’s nothing to worry about. And I swear I’ll never take it off. Not unless you want me to.”

Kurt looked at him, a lonely tear trickling down his perfect porcelain cheek, and smiled one of his warmest smiles.

“I’d never tell you to.”

“Then you have nothing to worry about.” Blaine reassured, bringing his right hand up to wipe away the tear, his left one still holding Kurt’s.

“You’re so cheesy.” Kurt giggled with a little blush when the curly haired man kissed the knuckles of his left hand.

“You love it.”

“I do…” he mumbled, grabbing hold of Blaine’s right hand again and guiding it back to his cheek, humming at the warmth it sent through his body. Closing his eyes, Kurt felt the other male shifting in the couch and seconds later he felt puffs of warm air against his face.

“Open your eyes, Kurt.” Blaine whispered softly, bringing their faces together, making noses and foreheads touch. He smiled lovingly at Kurt’s blush when he’d opened his eyes, something that would never stop being the most adorable thing on earth according to Blaine.

“You’re so beautiful when you blush…” he murmured, not able to help himself, but not regretting it when all it did was making Kurt blush darker.

“Your eyes…” Kurt whispered after moments of the two just staring at each other, so, so close together. “What color are they, really? We’ve been together this long and I’m still not sure…”

Blaine chuckled quietly again, sending more wonderful puffs of air against Kurt’s face.

“To be honest… I’m not quite sure either.” he said thoughtfully. “But there’re a lot more important things in this world than my eyes.”

“Hm, really?”

“There are.” Blaine said huskily, sending warm shills throughout Kurt’s entire body.

With a quiet hum he brought his hands up and tangled them into Blaine’s messy curls, bringing his face down to kiss him softly. The moment their lips met Kurt felt the usual butterflies come to life in his stomach. Blaine’s lips on his, Blaine’s lips anywhere on his body, really, always made him feel so much better. Always made everything around him disappear and lose its meaning. To think that he was still so in love with this man after all these years.

How could one man make the whole world so much better? How could one man heal all his wounds? How could one man make him feel like everything was okay, like everything would work out just fine after all?

He didn’t know. And he didn’t care. Because he had Blaine in his life and he made him feel all those things. And as long as he did, he didn’t have to care how, he didn’t have to think of how someone like him could love someone like himself.

He didn’t have to care about the fact that he had cancer.

Because as long as he had Blaine by his side, he was sure he was going to make it.

As long as they had each other, they could take on the world.
