IT'S CHRISTMAS TIME IN THE CITY. Just a ficlet about Christmas in the Klaine apartment.
Author's Notes: I have a special spot in my heart for "the most wonderful time of the year" and I wanted to add in Klaine because it's precious and I saw the pictures on Tumblr and I couldn't resist.
Kurt inhaled deeply and sighed. The smell of pine, cinnamon, and chocolate wafted through the room, a euphoric scent that Kurt wanted to revel in for the rest of the night. It was his and Blaine's first Christmas together in their new apartment. Kurt turned off the overhead lights, letting the twinkling strands of color cast a brillant glow around the room. A proud yet bare evergreen sat in the corner, waiting to be decorated.
Blaine returned from his car, a large box covered in a dusting of snow in his arms. "I have the ornaments," he announced as he set the box down in front of the tree. Shaking his curls, Blaine walked over and wrapped Kurt into a tight hug. Kurt leaned forward and kissed his icy forehead. "
You're freezing," he frowned. Blaine just laughed in reply. "It actually wasn't that bad out. It's so pretty out there. Everything's white," Blaine sighed dreamily. Kurt smiled at him, admiring the rosy color of the boy's cheeks and nose. "I made some hot chocolate for you, over on the counter," he said, gesturing to the kitchen. Blaine perked up. "Did you-?"
"Yes I did," Kurt said with a smile. "Just the right amount of marshmallows you usually ask for." Blaine kissed him again and whispered, "You're perfect" before dashing into the kitchen. He came back, wrapping his fingers tightly around the warm mug and taking a sip of the drink. As he brought the mug from his lips, Kurt could see a faint remnant of foam on Blaine's upper lip. Kurt laughed softly which was reciprocated by an unknowing smile from Blaine. The foolish grin made Kurt laugh a little harder and lean forward to kiss away the mess.
When Blaine finished his cocoa, they turned on the radio which was already tuned to the Christmas station. "Now can we decorate the tree?" Blaine asked excitedly. "Yes, come on," Kurt replied, gesturing towards the tree. They opened the box which was filled almost to the top with ornaments. It contained various shapes and sizes and colors and fabrics. Some were the traditional globe shaped glass ornaments while others were adoring cartoon characters, snowmen, or jolly old Santas, but each one of them as special as the next.
"I remember this one," Kurt mused, picking up a small ornament in the shape of a menorah. On the front, a small golden star had been glued to it. "Rachel bought it for me a couple Christmases ago." "It's so...Rachel," Blaine noted as he took the ornament carefully from Kurt. He turned back to the tree and contemplated the right branch to hang it on. "You can't let the tree look crowded," he had warned Kurt earlier. "Placement, that's the secret to a great looking tree."
Once the last ornament was placed delicately on the tree, the two stepped back to admire their work. They were pleased, the tree looking spectacular once it was completed. The pleasant melody of "White Christmas" drifted from the radio in the kitchen. Blaine wrapped his arms around Kurt's waist and pulled him close. "Merry Christmas," he whispered as he started to sway slightly. Kurt dropped his forehead against Blaine's. "Our first," Kurt cheered softly. He fell in step with the other boy, dancing slowly along to the music. Blaine kissed him lightly and smiled. "And hopefully many more."
End Notes: Wah, I love this season. Reviewwwwws? Make it an early Christmas gift??
