“Kurt?” Blaine called out, setting his messenger bag down when there was no reply. He could hear the faint sound of Idina Menzel playing in the basement, the rest of the house quiet in a bit of an eerie way. All of Kurt’s family had left only minutes ago for the McKinley high school football game. Kurt had promised his parents he’d study and stay in his room the whole time they were gone, but he had already made other plans with Blaine by the time they walked out the door.
“Kurt are you ready to g--…” Blaine called from the top of the stairs, the sight of his boyfriend stopping his sentence and descent down the stairs midway. Kurt stood in front of him with his hands on his hips and an adorable pout on his lips. The music had stopped.
“Blaine Anderson, I am not very happy with you at the moment.” The taller boy said sternly, looking up at Blaine with a serious expression on his face. Kurt Hummel was clearly pissed.
“W-what did I do?” Blaine asked timidly as he slowly stepped down the rest of the stairs. He glanced at his watch, wondering why Kurt was so upset. He wasn’t even five minutes late.
“Oh, you don’t remember? You left artwork all over my neck yesterday…” Kurt said with a hint of bitterness in his voice. “Let’s just say you need to watch your mouth, Anderson.”
Kurt turned his head to the left, pointing to a very evident purplish mark.
Blaine couldn’t help but chuckle a bit at how upset Kurt was.
“Kurt, it’s just a little lovebite, It’s nothing.” Blaine laughed softly, leaning in to kiss his boyfriend’s lips softly. He looked over the little bruise once they had pulled away, chuckling and kissing over the spot gently. Kurt couldn’t help but smile at the way Blaine called it a ‘lovebite’, which was a better term by far than what it was really called by the majority of people. Still, he rolled his eyes a bit, trying not to giggle when Blaine nipped the spot with his teeth playfully.
“It’s a hickey Blaine! And don’t make it worse!” Kurt whined, pushing him away gently with a soft smile.
Blaine couldn’t keep the smirk off his face, wrapping his arms around Kurt’s waist and pulling him closer against his chest, able to kiss the top of Kurt’s head since he was standing on the bottom step. He didn’t get much of Kurt’s hair, just the product his boyfriend used to style it. Blaine didn’t mind it though, it reminded him of the smell on the old hoodie Kurt had let him borrow after they’d gotten caught in the rain last week.
“Don’t worry about it Kurt, you can barely see it. And besides, no one will be at Lima Bean anyway, everyone’s at the game.” Blaine persuaded carefully, taking Kurt’s hands in his own and trying to lead him up the stairs.
“Blaine, we’re not leaving until I can figure out a way to cover this up. I can’t wear another collared shirt at school tomorrow; I was barely able to cover it up today.”
Blaine worried his bottom lip between his teeth. He was trying not to get frustrated with Kurt, but he knew they only had limited time to spend with each other on school nights. They hadn’t had a normal coffee date for weeks; they were both so busy lately.
“Can’t you just…Oh! I know! Coverup. You can put coverup over it.”
Kurt sighed loudly, sitting back on the sofa. He was going to be stubborn about it, because there was that slight chance that someone from glee club would just waltz on in. He didn’t really mind if anyone saw per say, everyone knew they were together, but he knew if someone from glee saw, he’d never hear the end of it.
“I tried that, Blaine. I tried all the ridiculous things the internet provided as well, nothing works. And I’m so…ghostly pale. It sticks out even more with coverup.”
Blaine looked around the room, stepping down from the stairs and walking over to Kurt’s closet. With all the accessories Kurt owned he was sure to find something to—Oh. Oh. Why hadn’t he thought of this before?
“What would you do without an amazing boyfriend like me?” Blaine said with a smile as he walked back over to Kurt, gently tossing a scarf he’d seen him wear dozens of time onto his lap.
Kurt’s eyes widened a bit as he picked up the scarf; the obvious answer had just been hanging there on a hook on the door of his closet. Kurt felt a bit silly for ever worrying over such a little thing.
“My hero.” Kurt remarked softly as he jumped up from the sofa, giving Blaine a quick kiss on the cheek, before walking back to the mirror to tie the simple scarf around his neck and arrange it at different angles until it was perfect.
Blaine watched this in silence, a little smile coming to his lips as he made his way across the room to wrap his arms affectionately around Kurt’s waist, kissing his shoulder before leaning his head against it, looking up at kurt.
“Does that mean I can leave more?” Blaine muttered quietly, a silly little grin spreading across his lips.
Kurt smirked, a little giggle coming from him as he turned around to face Blaine, pressing his soft lips to Blaine’s in a light, chaste kiss.
“Not until we’re even.” Kurt’s words were barely audible, But Blaine heard them loud and clear, hardly having time to grin before feeling Kurt’s lips on his neck.
Kurt and Blaine walked out of the coffee shop hand in hand about an hour later; a to-go cup of their respective coffee orders in each of the boy’s other hand. A medium drip and a non-fat mocha. Once in the car, Kurt tugged gently at the end of the Burberry scarf wrapped around Blaine’s neck; the other boy giving him a knowing smile before leaning in to kiss his boyfriend slowly.
Yeah, they were even.
