“I have cancer.”

At that exact moment the earth stopped rotating. The wind stopped swirling and whisking auburn and golden leaves across the streets of Ohio. The sun and moon stopped dancing and stilled the couple in the evening light.

“You have…I don’t understand.”

Tears were welling in Kurt’s eyes and his heart was skipping beats. His hands were trembling in Blaine’s but he kept his eyes on his new pair of Oxfords because he knew if he looked his lover in the eyes he wouldn’t be able to hold back his tears.

“They found tumors on and in my brain when I went to the Doctor last week. They said…they said it’s pretty bad, Kurt.”

“How…how long?”

“I don’t know.”

“Are you going to start t-treatment soon?”

“Next week.”

Kurt’s breathe shook and his lip started to quiver, “I um…”

“I’m so sorry, Kurt. I never meant to put you through this.”

Kurt’s head shot up like a bullet. He looked at Blaine, hard. And he fell apart in his hands.

Blaine was crying and he looked at Kurt was the most miserable puppy dog face.

Kurt broke down. He screamed and clutched onto Blaine for dear life. Not like Blaine had much of one, now.

“I love you. I love you so much and I will always be there for you. How DARE you think for one second that you – you…” Kurt couldn’t breathe, he was sobbing so hard.

Blaine cried into the crook of his neck and kissed him after every gasp of breathe.

Kurt pulled back and grabbed onto Blaine’s shoulders, looking him square in the eye. “You will fight. You will fight for you. You will fight for me. You will fight for New Directions. You will fight for the Warblers. You will fight for your parents, for your family. You are so much stronger than cancer. And you are going to kick it square in the ass, because you know why? Blaine Anderson? Because you are the strongest person I have met. You are my hero. You have so much courage and love and strength. You are the love of my life and I will always be there for you. Better or worse. ‘Til death do us part. And even then I will not leave your side. You are so much more to me than just some nuisance.”

Kurt grabbed Blaine’s hands and held them to his rapidly beating heart.

“You feel that? That’s how crazy I am about you. This is my dedication to you. This is my promise that I will fight this battle with you.”

Blaine rested his forehead against their enclosed hands and breathed in Kurt’s scent.

“Blaine.”

Blaine looked up, his eyes blood shot and full of love.

“Will you marry me?”
