It's Kurt's one year wedding anniversary with Blaine but Blaine isn't there. He doesn't know when he will be but he knows it's not today.

Kurt walked into his dark, quiet, and lonely apartment. He turned the light on and put his stuff down. He set the mail on the table and kept only one thing he wanted. A letter from Blaine. He sat on his couch and opened it up to read the neat script.
Dear love,
Soon...I promise. Soon I'll be home. You have no idea how much I miss you. Until I come back home I want you to listen to this one song. Somebody told me about it. It's called “Miss You The Most” by Natalie Stovall. So, as soon as you get this go listen to the song. Think of me as you do and just know that after this it won't be much longer. Until I see you again stay strong and don't lose that fire in your eyes. I love you more than anything in this world.
Love,
Blaine
Kurt cried as he read the letter and as soon as he was done he went to his laptop. He opened up youtube and listened to the song. It was everything they had gone through...everything Blaine was feeling. Everything Blaine had missed since he was gone. Kurt wiped the tears away and closed the window out at the end. He went back to the abandoned mail and finished going through it.
The next few weeks were spent listening to that song. He still wrote to Blaine as the days dragged on. When it came to their one year wedding anniversary Kurt was ready to break down. He stayed home from work and curled up in his bed with one of Blaine's pillows. His cologne was fading from it and Kurt lightly sprayed it with some of it. He held onto it as the song played and his heart kept breaking. He got up to Rachel shaking him. She was smiling and trying to get him out of bed.
“Go away Rachel,” he mumbled.
“Nope! Come on! We're going out to celebrate!”
“There's no reason to celebrate! He's not here...” Kurt said.
“Come on...your dad asked me to get you out since he's still in Ohio and you're here,” Rachel said. Kurt grumbled and got up to change. He styled his hair slightly and walked out into the living room. Rachel was sitting on his couch and waiting for him. She got up and looked at him smiling.
“Come on!” she said all bubbly. Kurt wanted to smack her across the face. He put his head down and smelled the collar of his light jacket. He sprayed some of Blaine's cologne on it since he was going out. He just wanted to lay in his bed but unfortunately he couldn't.
“Want some coffee?” she asked. They stopped in front of his usual place. Memories of him and Blaine coming here every day filled his mind. Kurt felt the tears well up in his eyes and he shook his head.
“Come on Kurt...”
“Fine...” he croaked out. He told her what he wanted and he went to get a table. He sat facing away from Rachel's gaze but he could still feel it on his back. A few minutes later she joined him at the table. She set a coffee in front of him and her. Another one was placed in front of the empty seat next to him.
“Is this some kind of sick joke?” Kurt asked angrily. She grabbed his hand and smiled at him. He really wanted to smack the smile off her face now. Suddenly, somebody started playing a guitar. He closed his eyes imagining Blaine playing and it tugged at his heart. Another little piece breaking from the thought of his love.
“I know I miss your birthday and sleeping in on Saturday's. And I miss the fires in your eyes on the fourth of July. Our anniversary and kissing you on New Year's Eve. Of all the things I miss back home I miss you the most,” a voice sang. Kurt bit his bottom lip. It sounded so much like Blaine...but he was gone and would be for a long time. His brain was playing tricks on him and he cursed himself for it. He pulled away from her and stood up and turned around. What he saw made his jaw drop and he dropped his untouched coffee onto the floor.
Standing a few feet from him was Blaine. Still clad in his uniform from the army but with a guitar in his arms. Kurt saw his father grab the guitar and Blaine moved closer flashing his million dollar smile at him. Kurt didn't know what to do. This had to be a dream. Blaine wasn't here! He was still fighting across seas!
“You're not here...” Kurt said.
“But I am,” Blaine said. The voice he'd longed to hear for the past year finally spoke to him. Kurt let the hot tears escape from his eyes and he jumped into Blaine's arms and held him tightly. He buried his face into Blaine's neck and took in his scent. It wasn't his usual scent but it was Blaine. It was home. It was where he belonged. Kurt was pressing light kisses along his neck smiling into his neck. Blaine's hand was running up and down his back soothingly and he was pressing kisses to his head.
“What the hell Blaine...why didn't you tell me?!” Kurt said when he pulled away.
“I wanted to surprise you today...”
“Oh my god...happy anniversary!” Kurt said wrapping his arms around him once more. Blaine was chuckling and Kurt couldn't help but cry at the sound. God he loved this man so much.
“Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!”
Kurt looked around at his friends and family, he didn't realize were there, chanting to him. Even the complete strangers in the shop and the employees were chanting it. Kurt pulled Blaine closer and their lips connected in a long overdue kiss. Blaine held him closely and when Kurt pulled away he looked into Blaine's hazel eyes.
“Welcome home baby,” Kurt said smiling.
“Thank you...I'm so glad you waited for me,” Blaine said smiling a teary smile. Kurt watched as he cried and he reached up to put his hands on either side of his face and with each thumb wiped away the falling tears.
“Why wouldn't I wait?” Kurt asked.
“I love you so much...” Blaine said and kissed him once more. Kurt pulled away and moved back to the table, avoiding his spilled coffee, and picked up the lone cup. He realized what it was and why Rachel had set it there. He would have to pay her back for this. He smiled as he walked back over to Blaine and handed it to him.
“Medium Drip?” Kurt asked. Blaine smiled and took the cup. He took a drink and kissed Kurt once more. Kurt relished the taste of him. The taste he was used to. He didn't let go of Blaine the whole time they were there. A hand was around his waist or holding his hand. Kurt was proud to show off the amazing man in his life. The one who had the nerves to go serve for his country and came home safely.
