Kurt's nervous. Of course he's nervous. Today's a big day. He stands in the glowing sunlight by the wall of windows in a room that they paid way too much for for only a few hours and just stares outside, spinning the simple white gold band on his finger.
Author's Notes: This literally came out of nowhere. I haven't written in quite a while so it felt good to get back into it. No Blaine in this one, but there is talk of him! Just Papa!Burt and Kurt.
Kurt’s nervous. Of course he’s nervous. Today’s a big day. He stands in the glowing sunlight by the wall of windows in a room that they paid way too much for for only a few hours and just stares outside, spinning the simple white gold band on his finger.
He knows he’s making the right choice. Hell, he’s known since he was sixteen years old that this was his future. He’s not nervous because he thinks he’s making the wrong choice, not at all. He’s just doesn’t want anything to go wrong. Because he’s spent a year and a half planning this and everything has to go right.
“Are you sure about this, kiddo?” he hears from behind him. He turns around to see his dad leaning against the door frame.
“I’ve never been more sure of anything. He’s…he’s everything, Dad.” Kurt smiles. “I’ve been waiting for this day since I was sixteen. He’s it. I know he’s the first boy I fell in love with, but he’s it. He is my future.”
“How do you know?” Burt asks. He knows Blaine’s it for Kurt. He knew before they even got together. He just wants to hear it from Kurt.
“When I say he’s everything, I don’t just mean, “Oh, he’s my everything. I don’t know what I’d do if we broke up.” I mean, he’s everything. He’s made me who I am today. He gave me the strength to stand up for myself. He taught me how to love myself and see me the way he does. He has woven his way into my life, my heart, my soul. He’s my past present and future. The person I’m going to build a home with, and raise our kids, and fight with, and make up with, and cry and laugh with.” Kurt fans his face, trying to stop the tears from falling. “This is it, Daddy. He is it.”
“You haven’t called me daddy since you were nine.” Burt said gruffly.
“You’re always going to be my daddy. No matter how old I am. Even when I’m married. Even when I’m someone else’s daddy.” Kurt held up a hand to stop his father from talking. “Which will not be for at least three years, I know, I know.”
“I’m just-” Burt started.
“Looking out for me and trying to make sure I make all the right decisions. I know.”
They both laughed at Kurt’s imitation.
“I mean it, dad. I’m always gonna be your little boy. It doesn’t matter what happens.”
“I love you, Kurt. So much.” Burt sniffed and wiped away the tears on his cheeks.
“I love you too, Dad. Blaine’s going to take care of me. And I’m going to take care of him. We’re going to take care of each other. Through everything. I promise. I’ve been waiting nine years to marry this man. Can we please go out there so I can get married now?” Kurt begged.
“Let’s go get you married, kiddo.” Burt laughed at Kurt’s squeal of excitement as they walked out of the room and towards Kurt’s future.
End Notes: Lemme know what you think? :)
