Author's Notes: I am actually very proud of this story.
Blaine and Jason were sitting in front of the TV, watching reruns or Modern Family. Jason was cuddled up against his daddy’s chest and with his little arms wrapped around him. He loved this, just cuddling with his daddy and he thought it was really funny when his daddy laughed, because then his chest shook a little bit when he did, and that was a funny feeling.
But something was bothering him today, because they learned about families today, and Jason noticed that he was the only boy with two daddies! And that’s really weird, because he has friends with two daddies too. And those daddies are all friends with his daddies. So he doesn’t really understand it.
He looks up to his daddy. “Daddy, in my school, I’m the only boy with two daddies. Why is that?”
Blaine shifts in the couch. They knew this day was coming, the day where Jason would notice that most families weren’t like his. “Did you talk about that at school today, honeybear? About families?”
The boy nods. “Yes. Mss. Annie asked us to tell about our mommies and daddies and our sisters and brothers. So I talked about Ellie and that you are a teacher and that Pappy makes clothes.”
Blaine ruffles his son’s hair. “That’s very good, honey. And what did the other girls and boys say then?”, he asks while hoping that they didn’t make fun of him, “Did they think it was a little bit weird that you have two daddies?”
“They were laughing a bit,” Jason admits, “but Mss. Annie said that it’s not weird to have two daddies. She said that her brother is also a daddy with another daddy.”
Blaine smiles. He and Kurt talked about this with Jason’s teacher, just to make sure that there weren’t going to be any problems. They were glad to hear that Mss. Annie’s brother was also gay and had kids with his husband.
“Then that’s okay, right? Pappy and I love each other and we love you, that’s all what matters, honeybear.”
Jason isn’t happy with this explanation. “But Daddy... Does that mean that you also had a big belly before I was born? Because Auntie Rachel now has a big belly and you say that’s because she is having a baby. And Auntie Mercedes also had a big belly before Jay was born. So did you or Pappy have that too? And then why didn’t you had a big belly before Ellie was born?”

Blaine chuckles. Seriously, this kid was so smart sometimes. “That’s a lot of questions, honeybear! First: no, neither Pappy or I had a big belly before you were born. But I’ll go get Pappy and then we’ll tell you the rest of the story, okay?”
“Okay Daddy.”

Blaine gets off the couch and went upstairs. Kurt was putting Ellie, their two-year-old daughter, in bed. He walks to her door and just stands there for a while, watching as Kurt finishes her bedtime story. He smiles when Kurt gives her a kiss on the top of her head, and Ellie gives him a sloppy kiss back.
“Nighty night, Pappy.”
“Goodnight, Princess.”

Kurt walks out of the room, looking back once more to his baby girl. He smiles and turns around to see his husband standing there, watching him with a tiny smile on his face.
“What’s up, babe?”, he asks.
Blaine shrugs. “I just realized again that I really love you. And I’m glad we have these two little angels together.”
Kurt just smiles back and kisses him. He knew it: he was so blessed with his family. When he was 16, he never even thought about having kids or being married before he was 30. And here he is, 33, married for 10 years, to his high school sweetheart, with two perfectly adorable kids. Yes, dreams do come true; but in Kurt’s life, he got so much more than he ever dreamed of.
“Honey, are you okay?”
Kurt snaps back to reality. “Yes, I’m okay. Just zoned out for a while there, I’m sorry”, he gives Blaine another peck, “Where’s our other munchkin, by the way?”
“Downstairs,” Blaine answers, “And he’s waiting for us.”
Kurt frowned while he walks over to the stairs. “For a special reason? Or did he became just as big of a cuddler as his daddy?”
“They had a lesson about family at school today. So, he’s a little bit confused because he was the only boy with two dads,” Kurt looks a bit worried, but Blaine continus while following him downstairs, “And he also wanted to know if either me or you had a, and I quote, ‘big belly’ before he was born.”
Kurt chuckles at the thought of a pregnant Blaine, that would’ve been hilarious. And gross. But then he remembers that they’re really about to have an important talk with their 7-year-old. “Are we ready to do this, Blaine? He’s going to realize now that we are a special family. He’s going to start to understand why people make fun of us...”
“Hey,” Blaine lifts his husband’s chin up, “We knew this was going to happen someday. And yes, we are ready, Kurt. We’re Kurt and Blaine, we can handle everything.”
Kurt takes a deep breath. “You’re right. I just don’t want him to get hurt because of us.”
“Me neither, sweetie, me neither.”

They walk into the living room, hand in hand. Kurt smiles at his son. “Hey, little Prince, Daddy told me you learned about families today at school!”
Jason nods. “But it was a little bit weird, Pappy. The other kids all had a mommy and a daddy, and I have a daddy and a pappy, and I was the only one!”
Kurt sits down next to him. “Daddy told me that you were a bit confused about that. Because Pappy and Daddy know a lot of daddies, isn’t it?”
“Yes. So why is that, Daddies?,” the boy looks first at Blaine and then at Kurt, “Why don’t the other kids have two daddies?”
Blaine sighs. “You know, honeybear, a lot of boys fall in love with girls. But some boys, like Pappy and me or like Uncle Dave and Owen, fall in love with other boys. And a lot of girls fall also in love with boys, but others, like your Auntie Tana and Ava fall in love with other girls. Does that make sense?”
“So if boys can fall in love with girls or boys and girls can fall in love with boys or girls, then... everybody can fall in love with everybody?”
Kurt and Blaine laugh. “Well, yes, but it’s better if the other person is also in love with you. Like your Daddy and I.”
“Why did the other kids laugh then, Daddy?”, Jason looks up at Blaine with his big, green eyes, “Is it like when people on the street look at you and Pappy very weird?”
Blaine looks at Kurt, both with a pained expresion on their face. They didn’t know Jason had noticed those things. Blaine wraps his arm around his son’s shoulders. “Yes, it’s like that, honeybear, because some people don’t think it’s good that two boys or two girls are in love with each other.”
“Why?”
Now Kurt is ready to speak. “Hey Jason, do you remember when Auntie Mercedes told you stories from the Bible? About Adam and Eve?”, even though Blaine and Kurt weren’t Catholic, they want their son to be able to know about different religions. So they let Mercedes tell stories from the Bible and Rachel had told him about Jewish holidays.
Jason remembers. “Was that the one with the apple and the snake?”
“Yes, it was. That’s very smart of you that you remembered it, buddy. But well, in that story, God created a boy and a girl who fall in love with each other. And because of that, a lot of people think that God doesn’t like people who are gay.”
“What means gay?”, Jason asks. He had heard the word before, but he doesn’t really understand it.
“That’s one two boys fall in love with each other,” Kurt explains, “If a boy likes boys, then he’s gay. A girl who likes girls is a lesbian and someone who likes boys and girls that they’re bi.”
“Oh. And people don’t like that?”, Jason asks. He doesn’t really understand. He had never seen this God person, and even then, his daddies always told them that it’s okay to like something when other people didn’t.
Kurt shrugs. “Yes, some people don’t like that, buddy. But you don’t have to worry about that, okay? If someone at school says something about it, you just tell a teacher or you tell Daddy or me after school.”
“Okay, Pappy, but I don’t think they will make fun of it. All my friends think it’s supercool to have two daddies, because then you can play even more football!”
Blaine and Kurt chuckle. Their son loves doing sports a lot! Kurt ruffles his hair and gives him a kiss. “I love you, little Prince.”
Jason gets up and wrapps his arms around Kurt’s neck. “I love you too, Pappy.”. The he turns around and kisses Blaine on his nose. “And I love you too, Daddy.”
Blaine grabs Jason and pulls Kurt up. “What do you think, Pappy? Do you think our little honeybear would like it if we sing him a goodnight song?”
Jason nods ‘subtle’.
Kurt winks at him. “I think he would like that, Daddy.”

When Jason was in his pajamas in bed, happy after his dads sung for him, he had one more question. “Pappy? Mss. Annie told us that people have babies when they love each other a lot. Is that true, Pappy?”
“That’s very true, buddy,” Kurt says, “That’s why me and Daddy have you and Ellie: because we love each other very much!”
“And where do babies come from?”, he asks.
Kurt smiles. “I’ll tell you that tomorrow, okay? Now you need to go to sleep. Go join your sister in dreamland!”
The little boy yawns and rubs his eyes. “Okay, Pappy. Nighty night.”
“Sleep tight, little Prince. I love you.”
