Blaine came home, after a long day at work, to a decorated living room. There was a ‘CONGRATULATIONS’ sign hanging above the table. There was a bottle of champagne on the table. It was opened, with two filled glasses next to it.
A little wrapped box made the picture perfect.
And of course Kurt was also there. He was standing in the middle of their living room, smiling at Blaine.
Kurt gave his husband a little peck on his lips and took his coat. “Hey honey, how was your day?”
“Uhm, good”, he answered confused, “Kurt, what’s this... This isn’t about my promotion, is it? Because I don’t even know if I’m being promoted.”
Kurt chuckled and shook his head. “Though I’m sure you’ll get that promotion, this isn’t about that”, he glanced over to the table and took the little box, “Why don’t you open your present, babe?”
Blaine frowned. He sure liked all the attention and Kurt was even sweeter as usual, but what was going on? While he was opening the little package, he glanced a few times at Kurt, who had an even broader smile on his face.
His present existed out of two parts: a picture of an Asian baby boy, looking at him with big, hazel eyes and a pair of little baby blue socks (of course from the GAP, but they’d laugh about that later).
With teary eyes, Blaine looked a few times from the picture to his smiling husband. He put the socks on the table, and launched himself towards Kurt, the picture still in his hand. Once they were wrapped up in each other’s arms, the tears broke down. Happy tears. All the emotions, their fear, their happiness, their disappointment of the last three years were caught in these tears.
They were desperately pulling each other closer, until Blaine broke their embracement to give Kurt a passionate kiss. “When?”
Kurt, who was laughing through his tears, kissed Blaine back before answering. “The agency called this morning, asking if I could come over as soon as possible. And then they gave me the picture,” Kurt sniffed, “We have to go back tomorrow to sign the papers, but he’ll be here in 3 months, Blaine”, he smiled at Blaine, “I’m sorry I didn’t call, but...”
Blaine smiled back. “I don’t care, Kurt. This is the best surprise ever,” he pulled Kurt back in his arms, “We’re going to be daddies, honey. We’re going to have a family.”
Kurt sighed happily and relieved. “Finally.”

Fifteen minutes later, they were cuddling on the couch. Blaine had ordered Kurt to tell him everything about their son, who was called Chang, but they’d been told that they could give him a new name, since the baby was only 2 months old.
After placing the billionth kiss on his husband’s lips, Blaine’s face turned a little more serious. “Did they tell you something about his parents? Or why he’s in the orphanage?”
Kurt nodded. “Yes, they did. His mom was only 17. She left him at the orphanage under the pressure of her parents. When she wanted to pick him back up, she...,” Kurt was almost whispering now, “She died in an accident, but they think her parents were involved. They’d rather have no daughter than the shame of a bastard grandchild.”
Blaine’s eyes were red and wet again. “That’s... horrible, poor little guy. And what about the father?”
Kurt shook his head. “They don’t know anything about him.”
Blaine kissed Kurt again. “So... they’re sure that, this is going to sound so selfish, but they’re sure nobody’s going to claim him?”
“No,” Kurt answered, “And it’s not selfish, Blaine. Or well, I asked the same thing, so if you’re selfish, then I am too”, he put his head on Blaine’s shoulder, “He’s definitely ours, Blaine”, he chuckled, “We are having a baby.”
“We’re having a baby”, Blaine smiled. He cupped Kurt’s cheek, and turned his head to look him in his eyes. “You know, having a family with you, that’s all I ever wanted, Kurt. I love you.”
Kurt grins. “I absolutely love you too. You’re going to be the best silly dad a child could have.”
They just stay like that for a the rest of the night, looking at each other, kissing a few times, and just... being happy.
