“Blaine?” Kurt asked in the sweetest voice he could manage.
“Yes?” Blaine responded turning his head to look at Kurt.
“I love you.” Kurt said for like the millionth time since they started dating.
“I know.” Blaine chuckled before rolling on his side to give Kurt a kiss. “I love you more than I’ve ever loved anyone else in the universe.”
Kurt smiled, “I’m sorry. I know I say that a lot. I just never thought I would get to say it to you out loud, and now that I can I don’t ever want to stop.
“You’ll never have to.”
Kurt grinned at Blaine’s words and kissed his lips softly.
The two boys lay face up on a soft red blanket watching the stars stare down at them. Kurt wanted to remember this night forever. He wanted to remember the way the grass felt under the blanket, and the way Blaine stroked his fingers as he held his hand. The way Blaine did this, without even thinking about it, made Kurt wonder if this was all just a wonderful dream he was having, but as he looked around he knew it was real, and it was wonderful. Kurt looked around the darkened park taking in all the little details. He noticed how the trees scattered all around seemed to enclose them in a sweet privacy. The crickets were all chirping the same tune, creating a song that sounded like it was composed to suit a night specifically like this one.
He looked over to the beautiful boy laying next to him, the beautiful boy that was his. He stared at Blaine now and took in every one of his features. Blaine must have felt Kurt’s eyes on him because he turned his head to look at Kurt who blushed deeply with the realization that he must have been staring for longer than he realized. Blaine just smiled and kissed Kurt’s forehead sweetly before returning his gaze to the stars. Kurt, with much effort, managed to look back to the sky as well. He began to wonder whether or not the stars found as much beauty in this scene as he did. If they did not then they were missing out. There was no other moment more perfect and more true than this.
They lay there in comfortable silence listening to each other breathing and their never-ending song the crickets continued to chirp. They were both wondering if the other one knew how unflawed the night was.
Kurt rolled on his side and put his head on Blaine’s chest. “I’m so glad Jeremiah wasn’t impressed with your attempt to serenade him.”
“so am I” Blaine chuckled in agreement, “I still can’t believe I did that, and I can’t believe it took me so long to figure out how perfect you are, and perfect for me.”
“Well at least you figured it out.”
Kurt looked up and laughed, a sound that always made Blaine’s heart beat just a little bit faster in his chest. Blaine kissed Kurt then, with everything he had in his heart. He poured all his love, passion and soul into it. He wanted to make sure Kurt knew just how much he loved him, since every time he tried to say it out loud words failed him. But Kurt got the message, and he made sure Blaine knew that he felt exactly the same way.
There have been many tales of love and romances experienced in this world, but this one leaves them all behind. This is the kind of true love that some people long for their entire lives, and they have it at 17.
