Bambi
Kurt considers himself Bambi. All he needs to do is find the right person to be his Thumper. -EDIT- I am so sorry that it took me this long to realize I put "Becky Jackson" instead of "Blaine Anderson" on the list of characters. It's fixed now! So sorry about that.

When Kurt was around six, he saw Bambi for the first time.
It quickly became his favorite movie of all time. He would watch it over and over - before school, after school, before he went to bed. Kurt's mommy never tired of watching this Disney movie with her son. Kurt loved how curious Bambi was, and how graceful he became after he got used to walking. He loved how everyone would want to be Bambi's friend, and how he had a great mommy, just like Kurt's. Of course, Kurt had cried the first few times he saw the movie when Bambi's mommy died. But Kurt knew Bambi could push through it and be a better person.
His dad had always said he was a precocious.
Kurt's favorite of Bambi's friend's was Thumper. Thumper was always hyper and all over the place. Kurt thought it was funny the way he repeated what his parents' had told him not to do when he did do it by accident. Kurt wished his parents would let him get a bunny, but his daddy wasn't fond of pets.
Kurt loved the park. He didn't have too many friends to play with, but he was okay with playing by himself sometimes. He liked when it was quiet and nobody was pushing him to get to the swings or the slides. Kurt would pretend he was Bambi. That he was graceful and curious and had a lot of kids wanting to be his friend. The last part wasn't really true, but he could pretend like it was.
The problem was, Kurt needed a best friend. He needed a Thumper.
But all the boys in his class were all dirty and weird. They were hyper, but not Thumper hyper. They were always scolded, but they never listened and kept doing things they weren't supposed to. The girls couldn't be good Thumpers. He loved Mercedes a whole lot, but Mercedes was very "fierce". Whatever that means. And Tina was kind of shy. Not like Thumper who talks to everybody. Rachel was just way too loud. Good Thumper in the loud part, but Thumper isn't very bossy and doesn't wear ugly sweaters. He didn't like speaking to Quinn, Santana, or Brittany. They were kind of mean. Brittany was nice, but a little off sometimes.
Then, Kurt met Blaine Anderson.
Blaine started showing up at the park and, once he caught sight of Kurt, he didn't stop following him. Blaine had told Kurt he'd loved his bowtie and they'd become the best of friends. Kurt hadn't seen Bambi in a while, ‘cause he was always busy telling his mommy and daddy about what he and Blaine were up to in playgroup and at the park. And when he wasn't telling them all the adventures they had, he was busy playing with Blaine.
But Blaine had caught the chicken pox and Kurt's mommy didn't want Kurt to get it, too. Kurt watched Bambi all over again and he realized he might have found his Thumper.
He paid really close attention to Blaine once Blaine got better. The other boy was real hyper, running back and forth. He even shook his leg when he was sitting down, because he couldn't contain his nervousness or excitement. Kurt remembered the time Blaine had saw a man with neon pink glasses and told the man just how much he like them. Blaine's mommy had scolded him and asked him what his father had told him. Blaine had replied, "Don't talk to strangers unless mama or daddy say it's okay," And he had scrunched up his tiny shoulders and lowered his pretty honey-colored eyes. Blaine loved meeting new friends and always asked Kurt "what's the matter?" when Kurt was sad.
Kurt had definitely found his Thumper.
Kurt brought up the idea of playing Bambi and Thumper to Blaine. After Kurt getting upset that Blaine had never seen the movie and Blaine begging his mama and daddy to take him to see it, they decided that was going to be their favorite game. Kurt pointed out all the reasons why he should always be Bambi and Blaine should always be Thumper.
Blaine thought it was the "bestest idea in the whole entire universe!". He thought a lot about playing Thumper because Cooper always said to fully get into character. "Hey, Kurt?" Blaine asked when they were playing. "Isn't Bambi's mommy dead? How can you be Bambi if he doesn't have a mommy anymore?"
Kurt's eyebrows scrunched up as he thought. "We'll pretend Bambi saved his mommy and his mommy's still alive," he said, matter-of-factly. Because Kurt knew his mommy would never leave him, no matter what.

Kurt stopped watching Bambi when he was eight.
He knew his mommy was sick, and that the doctors were really scared, but Kurt had thought his mommy would get better. That she'd come home and play with him or color with him or listen when he told her about Blaine and his new game. But she wasn't coming back.
Kurt's daddy didn't cry when he told Kurt. He was just really sad. Kurt did cry. And Kurt was glad that his daddy hugged him until he fell asleep from crying and let him sleep on mommy's side of the bed when he had nightmares. Kurt told Blaine he didn't like being Bambi anymore.
"I had wanted to be Bambi so badly. Now I am. My mommy's gone just like Bambi's."
Blaine hugged him too when he cried.
The funeral was the worst part. There were so many people, and why were they wearing black? That just made everything worse. He wished they had worn some other color. He told his daddy that at his funeral, he wanted everyone to wear white because they'd shouldn't be wearing sad colors. It just makes everyone start crying again. Kurt's daddy held him and said that Kurt shouldn't worry about his funeral. Not in a very, very long time.
Blaine came to the funeral. He held Kurt's hand and promised not to cry when Kurt told him he didn't like that everyone was making each other cry. Kurt's mommy's coffin was being lowered into the ground and Kurt's daddy took his hand. Kurt cried then. Not because it was the last time he'd ever see his mommy, though that was part of it. But because Kurt knew that he always had his daddy to be there and take care of him.
Blaine had left and told Kurt not to worry. That everything was going to be alright. Kurt and his daddy walked down the graves in the cemetery, just the two of them. Kurt followed behind his daddy in his suit that was a tiny bit too big. Kurt's mommy would have known how to fix it. His daddy had his hands in his pocket, and Kurt did the same. He wanted to be strong about this like his daddy. His daddy reached back and took his hand, leading him out of the cemetery. The sky was clear that day. Kurt liked that the birds were singing and that the sky was blue and the grass was swaying in the breeze. He didn't know what he'd do if it was raining.

Blaine had moved after the funeral. He had said something about his mama being too sad now that Kurt's mommy was gone, since they were friends since high school.
"I don't want to leave you, Kurt!" Blaine sobbed. "Those boys will be mean to you and....and....you won't have a Thumper anymore!" Kurt didn't want to cry, so he said. "Blaine, I'm not going to be Bambi anymore. And it's okay. If I do want to be Bambi again, maybe there will be someone else who can be my Thumper."
Both of them knew that what Kurt said wasn't true. Kurt's Thumper was leaving and he'd never find a best friend like Blaine.

Kurt didn't think about Bambi at all after Blaine moved.
He was too busy making sure to give in all his homework, to get up off the ground when the boys started pushing him into lockers, to make sure his dad took care of himself after the incident in the hospital, keeping Finn far from his room, make sure Carole looked good every day for work, ace his assignments, work on Glee club's weekly themes, and look good himself.
After the bullying go worse, he transferred to Dalton Academy. He had read all the pamphlets and brochures, went on the school website, and took an open house tour. Besides the hideous uniforms, Kurt thought he might actually enjoy being at Dalton. He had fought only because he couldn't stay at a dorm two hours away when he needed to watch what his dad eats and help Carole when things get hectic at the house. But they'd pushed him towards the opportunity, and although Kurt still worried, he was glad they'd gotten him somewhere safe.
Kurt was having trouble finding his classes and was standing in the hallway when another student found him. He looked over the other boy. He used way too much gel and had really nice honey-colored eyes.
Blaine looked over the painfully obvious new kid. He almost stepped back in surprise when thoughts of Bambi flew threw his head. Of course he'd think of that little deer he hadn't seen since he was five. The new kid had really big, bright eyes like Bambi. "I'm guessing you're new here?"
Blaine had helped Kurt get to his classes on time and even made a new friend in the process. He didn't know why looking at Kurt kept making him think of Bambi, but it did. It was when they were studying for finals when Blaine realized why. Kurt had moved his bangs to the side just like Blaine remembered an old friend doing. "Bambi!" He shouted in the empty commons, occupied only by him and Kurt. Kurt looked up from his books in confusion. "Excuse me?" Blaine grinned and hugged Kurt, much to Kurt's dismay. "Blaine! You're ruining my hair! I took hours for this to stay the way I wanted!" Blaine looked up. "You don't remember?"
Kurt shook his head. "Why the sudden interest in the Disney cartoon?" Blaine smiled again. "You're my Bambi! You really don't remember?" Kurt shook his head again, a little annoyed. "Think back. We used to play Bambi, and I was always Thumper because you would say I was too hyper and all over the place?"
Kurt's eyes widened as he remembered. He remembered all the times he'd play with Blaine. Blaine was so small and adorable then and how could Kurt forget that when Blaine was still so small and adorable?
Kurt was just happy that he'd found his Thumper again.

Kurt remembered the days after that realization. How he and Blaine would sit next to each other awkwardly while watching their old Disney movie. It had been awkward since they weren't sure what they were supposed to do, what was crossing the line and what wasn't. Then it grew to cuddles after their first kiss and how during the winter Kurt would make his famous hot chocolate and warm up under the covers while watching the movie with Blaine.
They didn't watch it as much as the years grew on. Kurt would usually watch it when he missed Blaine in his New York apartment that on some days was just too small and too quiet. And vice versa. They began watching it again when Blaine eventually joined Kurt in New York, but again, life got in the way and they usually spent the times they had together doing something else.
Kurt had been reminded of Bambi when Joey Hummel-Anderson turned six. They adopted the baby boy a few days after he had been born. The small, premature baby hadn't even been named yet. Kurt couldn't believe how someone could bring this tiny, helpless baby into the world and not even glance at the child before giving him away. He almost lost it when the girl had called the baby an "it" when the doctor had asked if they had her permission to give the baby up to the two men.
If they hadn't known better, they would have thought Joey was their child they'd created together. He had big, curly hair (though it was a lighter brown, lighter than Kurt's) and big eyes. His eyes were a mix of hazel and green. Joey had a really wide smile that showed the gap between his two front teeth and obvious freckles dusting his cheeks. He had light skin (not as light as Kurt's) and took after Blaine in the height department.
It was Joey first time at a theme park, and he was really excited. Kurt had held onto his hand, until he felt the tiny hand slip from his grasp. "Joey!" Kurt looked around wildly for two seconds before his eyes rested on his son on the tips of his toes, trying to look into the cart that sold cotton candy. "Joey!" The little boy looked back at his papa and, when he saw the angry look in Kurt's eyes, he walked back to him slowly. "What have I and your father told you this morning?" Joey looked down and knotted his hands together, his freckled face turning pink at the scolding tone in Kurt's voice. "If I want to come to the theme park, I have to hold Papa's or Daddy's hand at all times and never let go because anything can happen to me."
Kurt noticed how Joey's leg was twitching in excitement, although obviously embarrassed at getting in trouble. "Okay, now hold onto my hand and don't let go. Understand?" Joey nodded and held his Papa's hand tighter than before. Kurt noticed his husband a few stands away and led his son towards him. Blaine hugged first his husband, then picked up his son and hugged him close. Joey was trying to wiggle his way out, giggling as Blaine's hold held tight.
Kurt noticed Mercedes a few feet away. He hadn't seen her since she had visited him in New York about a year ago. Joey had turned five and had only come to spoil the child. He should have known she'd be visiting Lima like he was for Christmas. "'Cedes!" Mercedes turned and saw her high school friend. She grinned and pulled along a tall, white man and two children. The oldest, Kurt knew from her face book updates, was seven. Her name was Tanya and she had skin that was a little lighter than Mercedes'. Her hair was straight and hung down her back in waves that she had inherited from her father. The second child was Max and he also had wavy hair. His skin was closer to his dad's and he had turned six not to long ago.
"Kurt, Blaine, this is Andrew. Andrew, my two best friends." They greeted each other and smiled as Joey jumped from Blaine arms onto the floor. "I'm Joey," he nearly shouted. Tanya had moved closer to her mother. Max stood up straighter and replied, "I'm Max."
Joey grinned and Kurt can see the gears working in his little boy's eyes as Joey decided that it'd be nice to have a new best friend. They talked as the two families walked further into the theme park, Joey speaking loudly about what he liked and didn't like, only pausing when Max had something to say. Kurt looked at Blaine when Joey had grabbed Max's hand and proclaimed them best friends and loudly announced that he's "gonna marry Tanya too, so that they can be forever connected" and "yes it's okay that I marry your sister, isn't that what best friends are for?"
Kurt noticed how Thumper-like Joey was. It brought back memories of his own childhood with Blaine, and Kurt really wanted Joey and Max to stay close.
He was pretty sure that he'd just witnessed his son meet his very own Bambi.
