The first time he talks in over a year, he's alone and looking at a shooting star through his window, remembering that movie they watched in school.

Author's Notes: It's more of a drabble than anything, really.
He gets good grades, like they want.

He does his chores.

He cleans his room.

But according to his first grade teacher, he’s bad.

Blaine refuses to talk during school. I would suggest therapy.

He goes to his therapist, like they want.

He plays the games, he writes the notes, but he doesn’t talk.

When his mother asks why, he writes down that the therapist scares him.

They still make him go.

Blaine has difficulty expressing himself to myself and to the other children.

The therapist tries to make him write about his feelings for months.

The therapist tries to get him to talk, too.

His mother and father take away his toys and his music.

The first time he talks in over a year, he’s alone and looking at a shooting star through his window, remembering that movie they watched in school.

When you wish upon a star…

“I wish they would all go away.”

Blaine has been falling asleep in class. I understand that he is currently seeing a therapist; I would also suggest having Blaine speak to a school counselor.

He goes to the counselor for the first time when he’s nine.

He doesn’t understand why he’s there.

He’s started talking, like they all wanted (at home, only, but it’s still talking).

He doesn’t understand a lot of what they want from him, though.

So even though the school counselor (with her too bright hair and too big eyes) is new, at least some things haven’t changed.

Blaine doesn’t seem to have any friends in his class, let alone his grade. As his counselor, I would suggest singing Blaine up for one of our student groups.

He goes to group once a week.

It’s for kids that can’t make friends.

He think it’s stupid for him to be there; he can make friends.

He just doesn’t want to.

It’s not his fault everyone else is too dumb to tell the difference.

We think Blaine would do better at another school more equipped to deal with his needs.

That’s what they say when they’ve given up on you.

He may not talk to them, but he knows that. He’s not stupid, even if the kids at his school say he is, even if those guys at the dance try to make him think he is.

The fact that he’s not stupid is why he packs his bag and says goodbye before going to that private school. Dalton.

He doesn’t talk to anyone.

But he makes friends.

He doesn’t have to talk to make a few friends.

Blaine has been showing some improvement.

That’s the note Blaine takes home when he’s 16 and talking, a little. Enough to socialize with his friends.

That’s the note Blaine takes home after he’s stopped on the stairs by an angel.

“Excuse me…”

That’s the note Blaine takes home after he talks to a stranger for the first time since he was five.
