"Why is it so cold?!"
"I told you to bring a jacket, Kurt", Blaine chuckles and unleashes Sparkler who immediately runs joyful a few feet ahead, sticking his nose in every bush near the path.
"I never get up so early, so how am I supposed to know what the temperature is like in such unearthly mornings? Usually it's hot in summertime." Kurt grunts and puts shivering his arms around himself.
Blaine laughs and loops one arm around Kurt's middle to draw him closer while they slowly walk along the path that runs past dew covered meadows and vast fields.
"If I had known you're not a morning person, I wouldn't have asked you to accompany Sparkler and me on our little morning walk."
Alert from his name the dog sticks his head out from behind a tree and barks in Kurt's direction like a confirmation.
"No, no, it's okay", Kurt yawns provocatively pitiful and drops his head on Blaine's shoulder, "I love to spend time with you two and if therefor I have to get up in the middle of the night and freeze to death-" ,he turns around in Blaine's hold to face him and puts his arms around his neck, "than that's... completely fine with me."
"Oh, come on!", Blaine laughs and bumps mock offended their hips together, "it's 7am not 3 o'clock in the morning, I'm perfectly well rested."
Kurt giggles but still plays coy and enjoys to tease Blaine a little bit."Well, I need at least 8 hours of beauty sleep otherwise I'm not even a little bit passable. Look at how puffy my eyes are." He rubs pouting the sleep from his eyes and yawns again this time for real.
"Sweetie, if sleep would be just about beauty than you would be a vampire. Your beautiful in the morning, also in the middle of the night and to every other time of the day."
Kurt blushes and kisses him sheepishly on the cheek. "Oh, and you're a cheesy early bird", he mumbles conciliated.
Blaine grins satisfied and embraces gushingly Kurt's waist. Kurt gasps surprised and grabs Blaine's shoulders to steady himself when Blaine lifts him up so that his feet are standing on Blaine's shoes.
"Yes, I am and you adore me!" Blaine shouts out and begins to walk with big steps swaying heavily to each side from Kurt's weight on his shoes. "Come on, as compensation for your lost sleep I'll show you my favorite little coffee shop in downtown", he says and smothers Kurt's neck with fast hot kisses.
Kurt giggles, his laugh filling the quiet and peaceful area and he clutches on Blaine's shoulders while they make their way wobbly along the path. Blaine still embraces him around the middle and jokingly dips him backwards, pretending to drop him. Kurt feels a little bit dazed and he isn't sure if it comes from the tiredness or Blaine's eager kisses that wandered from his neck towards his shoulder in the meantime.
Kurt tugs a little at Blaine's curls to stop his mouth from trailing further down his collarbone to the exposed skin under the opened buttons of his shirt.
"Fine, fine, you had me at coffee, Blaine.", he answers chuckling and a bit breathless. He steps off Blaine's shoes and back on the ground.
Blaine smiles pleased and entangles their hands to walk towards downtown. At his whistle Sparklers looks up and follows the two joyfully.
Blaine leads them to the plaza with the big fountain in the middle of the pedestrian area. Most shops haven't opened yet but Blaine heads towards a small café at the corner of a house that borders on the plaza where some waiters have already put out chairs and decorated the tables.
Kurt immediately falls in love with the super inviting and cozy looking place. With its bordeaux colored awnings, small woven chairs and round wooden tables with as well bordeaux colored table cloths and a little white flower positioned on top of each one. The house has a bowfront and on the wall hangs a huge black chalkboard with the handwritten menu on it. Luckily Kurt loves his French classes and he can easily translate the name of the café that's written in golden letters on the house wall: "à la belle étoile"- under the star-spattered sky.
"So where do you want to sit? We're the first customers of the day so we have free seating, another advantage of getting up early by the way."
Kurt chuckles and pulls out a chair for Blaine at a table near the entrance. "Go ahead, mon chérie."
Blaine puts on an air of importance and pretends to lift a tailcoat when he seats himself on the chair.
"Thanks, honéy", he answers speaking through his nose and he pronounces the pet name with a French accent.
Kurt laughs loudly and sits down on the chair across from him. Blaine digs under the table to tie Sparkler's leash around his chair leg. Meanwhile a friendly looking middle aged waitress with brown hair tied up in a bun approaches to their table.
"Good morning boys, do you already know what you want to order?"
Kurt shoots Blaine a questioning look but he still fights with Sparkler's leash under the table.
"Order what ever you want honey, it's on me", he says while he tries to prevent the puppy to wrap the leash around his legs.
"M'kay", Kurt bites his lower lip and skims over the menu on the chalkboard. "Then I'd like a hazelnut toffee latte with cream and a cheese tartlet."
The waitress nods and glances over to Blaine who has managed to tie up the leash in the meantime and just wants to sit up again as suddenly Sparkler sees an other dog walking across the plaza whereat he heavily tugs on the chair leg and Blaine tumbles over backwards.
"Oh god, Blaine!" Kurt jumps up and encircles the table to help Blaine get up.
The waitress looks shocked for a second but then reacts fast and catches the leash of the puppy which is about to run across the plaza.
"Ouch." Blaine gets up and rubs the back of his head.
"Are you okay?", Kurt asks worried.
"Yeah, I'm fine just a little bump."
The waitress hands him the leash. "Blaine, how often has this happened now? You should really know by now that you have to tie him around the table because their fixed on the ground."
Blaine rubs bashfully his neck.
"But I guess your charming company distracted you, right?" She smiles brightly towards Kurt and winks.
"Mindy, this is Kurt my wonderful boyfriend, Kurt this is Mindy my trusted and favorite waitress", Blaine introduces the two.
"Nice to meet you", Kurt says and they shake hands.
"Likewise", she says cheerily and then turns to Blaine,"so sweetie, the usual? A medium drip and your special pancakes?"
Blaine nods and then she disappears inside the building to prepare their orders.
Kurt repositions himself in his chair and reaches out for Blaine's hand that rests on the table. His heart still beats a little out of rhythm from the overwhelming happiness of being introduced as Blaine's "wonderful boyfriend".
"Your favorite coffee shop truly is beautiful. I feel like in Paris, only the accordion player is missing."
Blaine watches smiling Kurt's thumb that strokes over his knuckles and he props his chin up on his other hand, looking Kurt adoringly in the eyes.
"Me too, and for the first time I feel like the true spirit of the city of love is in it completely."
Kurt blushes flattered and bends over the table to brush a soft kiss over Blaine's lips but Blaine leans forward too to meet him halfway. They stop inches apart, smile lovingly at each other and glance impatiently to each others lips, both enjoying to draw out the electrifying moment before their mouthes are touching. Kurt watches the flutter of Blaine's long dark eyelashes and the adorable wrinkle of his nose when he smiles into the kiss before he closes his own eyes, too. Finally they brush their lips together and Blaine draws in a shameful loud breath at the touch causing Kurt to happily snort a little and he brings up his hand to cup Blaine's cheek. The emptiness of the plaza tempts them to linger a bit longer despite the uncomfortable angle. They slowly work their lips together and Blaine squeezes their still tightly entangled hands. None of them wants to let go though somewhere in the back of his mind Kurt knows that the waitress must come out to bring their coffee any second but he just melts into Blaine's soft lips and pushes the thought away.
"I'm sorry boys..."Someone next to them clears apologetically her throat. "but the tablet gets kinda heavy and I really tried to clatter the dishes very loudly to warn you."
Kurt and Blaine break apart, both with flushed faces and Blaine bites on his bottom lip to hold back a laughter.
"You're forgiven Mindy. But only because you bring us coffee and I think Kurt loves coffee nearly as much as he loves me."
Kurt takes gratefully the steaming mug and whispers towards Mindy on the quiet: "I love it so much more."
The waitress giggles and both earn a scandalized gaze from Blaine.
"Someone who's so cheeky doesn't get a bit of my fantastic and delicious pancake", Blaine says and protects sulkily with his arms the plate Mindy put on his side of the table.
Kurt rolls his eyes amused and bites in his fluffy warm cheese tartlet.
Blaine sprinkles some chocolate sauce on the ice cream that's on top of his pancake before he turns the plate around to Kurt.
"Look you made Mickey sad!", he blames Kurt and sticks out his upper lip in a pout like a little child.
Kurt giggles helplessly when he realizes the ice cream on Blaine's pancake is formed in the shape of Mickey Mouse. Ice cream cones represent the ears, chocolate beans the eyes and nose, there's even a red and yellow, banana and strawberry scoop for his trousers and Blaine painted a sad mouth with the chocolate sauce on his face.
"Your mysterious special pancake is a kids Mickey Mouse ice cream pancake?!", Kurt laughs and nearly chokes on his tartlet. "God baby, you're so cute."
Blaine grins widely and shoves a big spoon of Mickeys trousers in his mouth. "Yes! It's always the perfect time for ice cream and there's no need to be jealous I'll share it with you. I'm a very generous person and I forgive you for loving the coffee more than me because I have the same relationship with ice cream." He holds out the spoon for Kurt to taste it.
Kurt moans appreciatively when he licks the ice cream from the spoon and lets Blaine taste a piece of his cheese cake. They sit in the café till the sun is high in the sky and they're by no means the only people sitting in the café anymore and enjoying their morning. The town seems to wake up and many people bustle about the plaza.
Kurt and Blaine lick cream from each others upper lips, drink relaxed their coffee, Blaine feeds Sparkler the leftovers of the ice cream and they enjoy watching the puppy getting his whole snout messy. Their feet brush occasionally and Kurt just loves to spend the beginning of his day with his boyfriend.
"So..", Blaine starts and plays with Kurt's hand on the table, "was it worth to get up at the crack of the dawn?"
"So you admit that it was super early!", Kurt answers.
Blaine chuckles and adorably drops his head. The cute gesture makes Kurt's belly flip all the time when they mess around.
"Joke aside, it was definitely worth it. The walk was wonderful, the coffee shop is wonderful-you're wonderful", Kurt answers earnestly, "I have the feeling that this is going to be a wonderful day, thank you."
Blaine smiles affectionately and kisses Kurt's knuckles. "You're welcome."
"Oh, but you're aware that you set a very high standard for our morning dates, right? I have very high expectations now", Kurt adds.
Blaine puts the tip on the table and reaches out his hand for Kurt to get up. He loops his arm around Kurt's waist and takes Sparkler's leash into the other hand.
"Mmh well, than next time I'll fly you to the real Paris and we'll eat Donald Duck cupcakes under the Eiffel Tower", he turns his head and presses a gushing kiss on Kurt's cheek, "Mwah!"
