Romance

Kurt likes romance. He told Blaine that's all he wanted. He didn't want to know about sex, plain and simple. Blaine, however, has had just about enough of Kurt's idea of romance.

“I like romance. That’s why I like Broadway musicals - because the touch of a fingertip is as sexy as it gets.”

----------

Blaine looked down at his hand, fingers intertwined with Kurt’s, and frowned.

He considered himself a bit of a romantic. Well, no. He was a romantic. He tended to express his emotions in song (sometimes overdoing it, mind you) and he’d been known to constantly show those he loved how he felt with little thoughtful gifts.

Like the time he found himself in the middle of a field on a summer evening for a picnic and brought along glass jars so Kurt could experience catching lightning bugs for the very first time. Or, as he had ended up calling it, living glitter.

Or when Kurt had swooned, glove clad fingers touching the store’s window during the holidays. He stood on tip toe and pressed his face so close to the glass it fogged underneath him as he pointed excitedly to Blaine about some new, ridiculously overpriced leather boots.

The same boots that Kurt currently had paired over the tightest jeans Blaine had ever seen on anyone.

He tilted his head sideways, eyes roving from his boyfriend’s waist to his feet and back up.

“Blaine? Blaine!”

He shook his head slightly and furrowed his brow, turning to Kurt. Rachel and Quinn sat across from them in the choir room in the chairs they had pulled up before them earlier, notebooks and pencils ready on their laps.

“Yeah?”

“What did you think about doing Hot and Cold with like, feather boas?”

“… Why does everyone think I only do Katy Perry songs? I did one-“

“And we were thinking costume changes! You know, on stage quick changes? Like on her most recent tour!” Rachel interjected, grinning widely. Blaine looked at Kurt who was nodding, eyes bright, his grip tightening.

“Whatever you want,” he smiled and Kurt and the girls squealed and Kurt’s hand flew away, grabbing Quinn’s notebook and sketching quickly and talking as the girls agreed and argued over costume ideas.

Blaine crossed his leg over his knee and stuffed his hands in his pockets.

He had other songs in mind. But singing Peacock seemed kind of… Presumptuous. And might scare his apparently sex-timid boyfriend running.

Like their chats had always ended. But this romance-only relationship was wearing thin.

He half listened as the three were trying to figure out how to get the rest of Glee club involved when Kurt pulled off the striped cardigan he had been wearing all afternoon and folded it neatly in half before dropping it onto his book bag by his feet.

Blaine wasn’t positive but he was pretty sure Kurt was taunting him.

The really soft looking gray tee shirt was apparently fashionably too big on Kurt’s small frame and the collar slipped and one half of the shirt slid down a little down his arm, exposing his shoulder. Blaine swallowed and stretched his fingers out in an attempt to retrain himself from touching the creamy, pale skin staring back at him. He cleared his throat, closing his eyes as he remembered.

Romance.

“Blaine, you okay?” Quinn asked in her usually soft, quiet voice.

He opened his eyes to see Rachel and Quinn looking at him in concern and Kurt with matching concern but…

Wait, was that amusement?

“I’m fine, I just… I uhm. I love costume changes?”

The three kept looking at him and he sighed, reaching for his books off the floor and pulling himself to his feet.

“Ladies, I have full confidence this number will be wonderful but I’m going to call it a night and head home.” They grinned to each other but Kurt looked up at his boyfriend, mouth opening then quickly shutting, his pretty features perplexed.

“I’m fine, I’m just… I’ll call you later tonight, okay?” Blaine asked and Kurt nodded.

“Okay.”

Blaine turned and was almost out of the classroom doorway when he heard Kurt talking to the girls and chairs sliding across the floor.

“Blaine! Wait!”

Kurt caught up to him in the hallway, tugging on his arm gently.

“What’s wrong?”

“Nothing. I just-“

“Are you sick? Do you – You hate the idea, don't you. I tried telling Rachel with our budget there’s no way it can look as good as we want and let’s face it, we’re going to need a lot more fabric than is really necessary and-“

“Kurt. I love the idea. And I love you.” Blaine smiled, leaning forward and kissing Kurt’s cheek. The few students in the hallway walked around them and Kurt looked down to his feet with a slight blush.

“Then why…”

“It’s not a big deal. I just don’t…” He trailed off, looking at the smile on Kurt’s face and sighing.

… Want to keep this a freaking Disney movie.

“Come with me,” Kurt sighed, grabbing Blaine’s hand in his and pulling him along the hallway towards the men’s restroom. Blaine stuck his books under his free arm and willingly followed, trying not to notice how Kurt’s ass swung when he walked or how incredibly long his legs looked those boots.

He found himself pushed into the bathroom and Kurt reached behind him and twisted the lock, hands on his hips, eyebrow raised. Blaine sighed and ran a hand through his hair, setting his books down on the sink beside him.

“Okay. I’m just going to be honest. And please don’t freak out.”

“I won’t.”

Blaine closed his eyes and took a deep breath.

“I get that you want romance. I do. And I respect that you don’t want… Anything else. And I’m crazy for you. Crazy enough to manage to convince myself that you aren’t meaning to torment me with your skin tight jeans and ridiculously sexy shirt. And your hair and I… I’m trying, Kurt. I’m trying to be respectful and what you want me to be but it’s…” he shook his head and Kurt tilted his head, looking at him thoughtfully.

“You’re blushing, Blaine.”

“You fluster me!”

“Hmm,” Kurt smiled slowly and Blaine raised an eyebrow and quickly found himself against the wooden door, head falling backwards with a thud and he had his arms full of Kurt Hummel, pressed up against him from toe to head.

“Kurt,” he breathed out, lips barely touching and Kurt grabbed Blaine’s shirt collar and pulled hard, lips and teeth colliding.

Blaine groaned, hands scrambling up along Kurt’s back before rubbing his thumbs over his cheeks as he deepened the kiss, tongues tangling. Kurt hummed and wrapped his fingers in Blaine’s hair, swiping his tongue across his lower lip before gently biting down and sucking it into his mouth.

“Kurt,” Blaine groaned, eyes clamped shut as he ran his hands along Kurt’s back, hands up and under his shirt and gliding over soft skin, fingernails barely scratching along.

“You’re lucky you’re so cute and talented because you are not the smartest boy,” Kurt grinned wickedly and Blaine’s head thumped against the door again as Kurt’s hips slid against his. He pulled Kurt in for another kiss and Kurt sucked on his tongue for a moment before sliding their lips together, holding the sides of his face.

“I thought… Romance…,” he gasped and Kurt wrinkled his nose.

“I love romance, don’t get me wrong. But you?” he whispered, fingers touching each of the buttons on Blaine’s shirt, teeth scrapping across his now exposed collarbone.

“Are such a tease. Holding the microphone like that? Dancing like you do?”

“Nggh,” Blaine winced as Kurt

“Do you have any idea how insane you’ve been driving me this whole time?” Blaine panted, sliding down to the floor, rubbing a hand across his forehead. Kurt smiled with a bare shouldered shrug.

“I have an idea.”
