Blaine gripped his mobile tight in his hand, a mixture of sweat and blood running down this temple to his cheek bone. Horrible flashbacks taking over his mind. He stood at his window, watching the rain pour down the glass and the cold draft from the top of the frame cooling his face. He shivered slightly and gripped the phone tighter, tears filling in his eyes. He brought the small device up to his eye level slowly and opened his contacts, scrolling down to the letter 'K' and pressing hard on Kurt's name.

When Kurt answered the phone, his voice was loud and fluffy. There was a slightly murmur of music in the background and Kurt was panting slightly. "Hello? Blaine?"

Blaine's voice sounded hoarse, broken. He cleared his throat quietly and whispered to Kurt down the phone. "K-Kurt? Kurt, I need- I need your help." He heard the music being turned off quickly and the loud creak of Kurt's bed as he sat down.

"W-what? Blaine? What's happened? A-are you okay?" Kurt ran a hand through his hair, trying to mask the panicking sound to his words but failing.

"He hit me, Kurt. He hit me. My dad. He hurt m-me. A-again and again-" Blaine choked on the last words, letting a few tears fall down his cheeks. "I-I'm scared. Really scared."

The other boys breath hitched in his throat as he lifted himself from the bed, letting the bed groan loudly again. "Stay where you are. I'm on my way." Before Blaine could disagree on him coming in any radius of his dad, Kurt had hung up. His hands shaking as he dropped the phone to the floor and slowly struggled to pack a small bag filled with the main things he would need for the night. Pyjamas, toothbrush, clean clothes. He could hear his dad fumbling about in the kitchen, cursing and swearing to himself. Blaine knew that if he stepped into the older man's view that he was surely going to get another punch to the face.

Blaine watched out his window, praying for Kurt to hurry so that he could avoid his father and sneak out the front door whist he was in the shower. He saw the bright, headlights draw up outside the house and noticed the glow of a mobile in the front seat. Blaine ignored the ear piercing ringtone that broke the haunting silence of his room and grabbed the bag, making his way down the stairs as quietly as possible and out the front door.

Blaine fell to his knee's on the driveway as he met Kurt. His knuckles turned white as he kneaded them into his eyes, trying to stop the tears. He hated Kurt seeing him cry. He hated it.

Kurt only dropped to his knee's beside Blaine and wrapped both his arms around him, pulling the other boy into a tight hug. "I'm here, I've got you baby. I'm here." Kurt repeated over and over, allowing the rain to soak both him and Blaine as he sobbed his heart out in Kurt's arms.

After a few minutes, Kurt helped Blaine to his feet, pulling his arm up and around himself to hoist Blaine up and take most of his weight. He helped him over to the car, putting him slowly in the passenger seat and darting around to hop in the driver's door.

During the journey home, the car was completely silent. The only noises were the heavy breathing of Blaine as he winced in pain as the car moved and the occasional ticks of the indicator. Kurt rested his hand on Blaine's knee lightly, reassuring him that he wasn't alone. Kurt was with him. He was safe now.

They got back to Kurt's fifteen minutes later, and Blaine managed to get in and up the stairs to his boyfriends room without causing too many questions from Burt and Carole. Kurt followed Blaine moments later and sat beside him on the bed, the groan of the old wooden bed underneath both of them brought a slight comfort to Blaine's mind. A sense of safety.

Kurt wrapped both his arms around Blaine, trying his very hardest to stay as strong as he could as the other boy fell apart completely under him. The stayed like that for what seemed like hours but maybe only twenty minutes at the most before Blaine pulled back and let Kurt see him properly for the first time all night.

His face was swollen under his left eye that was shadowed with a dark purple bruise. He had a gash on his cheek that ran from his temple to his nose and his eyes were red, puffy and dark. Angry. His arms were covered in small scars and dark red dots that looked like fingertip marks. Kurt gasped as he took it all in. His boyfriend. The man he loved with all his heart, was sitting beside him, broken. Broken by the one man that had brought him up. The one man that had loved him since the day he was born.

Kurt bit his lip, wanting to speak but not knowing what to say. He started with the one thing he had been thinking the full night. "I'm so, s-so sorry, Blaine."

Blaine's head snapped up at the sudden break in the silence. He shook his head rapidly and looked down again, ashamed. "You have nothing- Nothing to be sorry for. This wasn't your fault in the slightest. But- I have to thank you. For coming to get me.."

Kurt let the edges of his lips stretch upwards ever so slightly. "You know I will always be here for you, Blaine. I-I.. Do you want to take a bath? Or something? It- It might sooth your- your wounds." Kurt struggled to get the words out, his breath being trapped by the sobs that were longing to escape in his throat. He got up as he acknowledged Blaine's nod and started the taps in the bathroom, letting the water run warm and putting the plug in the drain. He returned to help Blaine into the bathroom, closing the door behind them both and setting Blaine onto the toilet seat.

"Here!" Kurt exclaimed as he watched Blaine struggle to remove his shirt. The minute the thin bit of fabric was removed, the full of Blaine's chest and back were exposed. Kurt gasped loudly at the long line of thick, bright red marks along his back. He covered his mouth for a moment before taking his hand down and running it along the slightly swollen bumps, making Blaine wince away from his touch.

"Belt.." Blaine whispered. That was all he could get out before he was brought back to the stinging sensations on his back as his father screamed offensive words in his ear at every swing of the belt. The noise of the cool leather slapping his back over and over and over again made Blaine shiver and cling onto the side of the bath until his knuckles turned white. Kurt heard him groan in pain and dropped to his knee's beside him.

"B-Blaine.." Kurt put his hand out to run his fingers over his boyfriends cold shoulders, instantly feeling him relax under the touch. Kurt stood again and kissed Blaine on the forehead, wiping away the tears that had escaped without him realising and helping Blaine to his feet. He tried to ignore the numerous bruises and gashes that ran down his stomach and legs. Kurt helped him completely remove his trousers and watched as the other boy began to turn red, moving his head away from Kurt, ashamed.

"B-Blaine..?" Kurt whispered, stoking his thumb under his boyfriends eye, avoiding the bright red line. "I love you. Nothing is ever going to change that. Okay? I'm going to be right here for you, no matter what happens. I'll leave you now, to let you relax. Just try to let your mind free from the thoughts that are trapped in there. I'll be right outside the door so please don't hesitate to shout." He kissed him on the head and helped him up, before turning and leaving the room, giving Blaine some privacy.

Kurt met Finn on the other side of the door as he closed it softly. "Dude? What the fuck ha-". Finn only managed a few of the words he was planning on throwing at Kurt, asking why no one was telling him anything or why the police were in the living room, but instead he caught Kurt as he collapsed in Finn's arms. Letting everything go against his step-brothers chest. Kurt's loud sobs were mixed with cries of Blaine's name. Finn was still oblivious to what had actually happened, but he rubbed Kurt's back, comfortingly as he felt his shirt become damp from the tears coming from Kurt's eyes.

A few minutes later, Kurt pulled back. Thanking Finn with a forced smile and explaining what he knew to the taller boy. Finn only nodded, a sympathetic look in his eyes as Kurt spilled his heart.

Moments later, a hushed voice echoed up the stairs, shouting on Finn. Carole had obviously heard Kurt's sobs and wanted Finn to leave him alone. Meanwhile in the bathroom, Blaine had heard it all. He had heard how broken his boyfriend was. He had heard how upset and hurt he was. He couldn't do this. He couldn't put the man he loves through this horror.

Blaine heard the door creak slightly, only to pulled back closed. Kurt had slid down and was sitting on the floor with his knee's up and his head rested. Blaine glanced over to the toilet where his blood stained hands had left handprints on the white surface. He then looked over to the medicine cabinet that had been left open slightly. He could see many bottles of pills with bold writing on the top saying, 'BURT'. He traced his eyes around to the bottom of the bath where Carole's basket full of all the beautifully smelling salts were kept. He could see a bottle of bubble bath, a bottle of shampoo and matching conditioner, then something caught his eye. Her razor.

In that moment, Blaine's mind ran riot. His thoughts danced in his mind and were beginning to make him feel dizzy. He could hear the small sniffles coming from the door where his boyfriend was sitting. His hurt boyfriend. The man he had put through so much, tonight. The worry. The stress. The anger. Blaine hated himself for it. He hated himself for bursting to his dad that he was gay. He hated himself for not getting out the house fast enough and he hated himself for calling Kurt in a cry for help. Kurt didn't need this. He didn't need all the shit that Blaine had landed on him. How could he have been so stupid?

Blaine leaned his head back, shaking violently. He closed his eyes, trying to fight away the thoughts that circulated in his head. He reached his hand out, the noise of the water moving, haunting him. He grabbed the razor and began dismantling it. Leaving nothing but the cool, metal blade in-between his fingers. He brought his leg up, letting his thigh become exposed out of the water and wincing in pain at the movement. He brought the razor down, dragging it once across his leg and watching as the blood swelled in tiny lumps. He was checking to make sure it was sharp enough to do the job he needed it to do. He ignored the stinging pain from the cut and rinsed the blade in the water.

He put his leg back into the water with a slap that alerted Kurt from outside the door. Kurt's head snapped up and his stomach clenched. Was he okay? Kurt sprung to his feet, resting his hand on the door handle and turning it, knuckles white.

Kurt opened the door, dashing in to see the razor sitting on the edge of the bath, in bits. His eyes darted to Blaine, who was shaking violently with the blade from the razor inches from his wrist. His eyes were closed. His head was back. The bath water had turned a pink colour at the blood from his previous wounds and the one he had just created.

Kurt stood, frozen. Watching his boyfriend with his eyes wide and mouth open. He didn’t say anything. He darted across the small room, grabbing Blaine's hand and pulling it back from his wrist. He fumbled to take the sharp object from his boyfriends hand and eventually, Blaine loosened his grip, letting the tiny blade slip into Kurt's grip, cutting him deep just below his thumb. He dropped the razor and ignored the gash in his hand as he put both his hands under his boyfriends arms and hoisted him out of the bath as fast as he could. Not caring about Blaine's privacy or getting his own clothes wet.

Blaine stood. Naked and lifeless. Completely vulnerable. His eyes were dark. No emotion flashed behind them. Nothing. Kurt wrapped a towel around his waist but had to hold it himself as Blaine's arms remained lifeless at his sides. Kurt guided him into the bedroom and lay him down on the bed. His hands shaking and his eyes filling with tears. He knelt down beside Blaine, stoking the other boys cheek as he stared at him.

"You're safe, Blaine. I've got you, I've got you. You're safe, baby." Kurt began spluttering his words. His breath shaking as the other boys hand lifted slowly from the bed and rested on the back of Kurt's neck, pulling him softly up onto the bed beside the lifeless body of his boyfriend.

Kurt curled up at his side, taking comfort in hearing Blaine's breathing under him. What would have happened if he was too late? What would he have done if he didn't stop Blaine. If he walked in with his boyfriend dead. Kurt only shook the thoughts from his head, reminding himself that he had saved Blaine. He was safe. He tightened his grip on Blaine's cold, exposed chest and felt Blaine kiss the top of his head softly.

"I-I love you, Kurt." Blaine said, hoarsely.

"I love you too, Blaine." Kurt curled further into Blaine's side, the damp towel soaking through his bed and Blaine's wet curls leaving a mark on his pillow. Kurt shrugged this off and sighed as he heard Blaine's breathing become louder and deeper. He then allowed himself to fall asleep in his boyfriends arms.

End Notes: Thank you for reading. This was going to be a class assignment but turned into something more. I hope you enjoyed.
