It's time to stop pretending for Kurt and Blaine. They both know what's happening and what's coming in the near future. Kurt just doesn't want to admit it.
Author's Notes: This song is called "No One's Gonna Love You" by Band of Horses. The link his right here :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7_s9H0BRrU&feature=related The writing that's in between the "~~" are the song lyrics that follow along with the story :)
"I think we need to talk." Blaine sat down at the kitchen table across from Kurt, who was quietly reading a magazine.
Kurt looked up, "No." His eyes fell back to the magazine.
"Kurt. Yes. It's time." Blaine tried to reach for Kurt's hands but he flinched away.
"Blaine. Stop. I don't want to."
"Neither do I but we have to Kurt. I can't go on like this and I know you can't either."
Kurt closed his magazine slowly, keeping his gaze down at the table top. Blaine saw tears beginning to form around the rims of his blue eyes.
He always adored those eyes.
"Blaine...please-"
~It's looking like a limb torn off.
Or altogether just taken apart.
We're reeling through an endless fall.
We are the ever-living ghost of what once was.~
"We can't pretend like it didn't happen and that you didn't find out." Blaine felt tears now forming in his own eyes.
"We could pretend I don't know though. Everything can be okay again!" Kurt pleaded, finally looking into Blaine's eye's for the first time in weeks.
"We both know that's not going to work. Kurt... I'm-"
"Blaine please don't say-"
"Kurt, I'm dying."
~But no one is ever gonna love you more than I do.
No one's gonna love you more than I do.~
Kurt began sobbing, "No! Blaine no, please." His tears pouring out of his tightly closed eyes.
Blaine felt his heart sinking, watching Kurt shaking uncontrollably while the tears kept pouring out, "Kurt-"
"Please don't leave me Blaine, please?" Kurt begged.
"I don't want to leave you. It's going to be okay baby."
~And anything to make you smile.
It is a better side of you to admire.
But they should never take so long.
Just to be over then back to another one.
But no one is ever gonna love you more than I do.
No one's gonna love you more than I do.~
Blaine carried Kurt over to the couch. Kurt cuddled up in Blaine's lap and Blaine let him sob into his neck. Kurt clutched to the fabric of Blaine's sweatshirt as he sobbed and mumbled things like 'I love you though.' and 'Please Blaine, don't.'
"Sssh." Blaine soothed Kurt and he rubbed soft circles into his back.
"I didn't want to believe it. W-when I saw all the papers from the doctor. You...you have c-cancer...don't you, Blaine?" Kurt stuttered out as he nuzzled closer to Blaine.
"Yeah baby, I do." Blaine said as calmly as he possibly could without bursting into tears.
"W-well what does that mean...for us?" Kurt looked up at his boyfriend of almost 11 years, "Because you know that I love you no matter what happens. I don't care I just love you Blaine."
"I know Kurt, I know. I love you too." Blaine gently kissed the top of Kurt's head.
"So what's going to happen Blaine?" Kurt got no response which frightened him, "Blaine?"
"Kurt...I don't have much time, we both know that. I think we need to...I think we need to end this."
~But someone, they could have warned you.
When things start splitting at the seams and now,
The whole things tumbling down.
Things start splitting at the seams and now.
If things start spilling at the seams and now,
It's tumbling down...hard.~
The pain written all over Blaine's face and the words he had just said was enough to get Kurt crying again.
"W-what?" Was all he could manage to say.
"I don't want you to have to deal with all of this. I want you to have enough time to find someone else before I..." Blaine trailed off.
"Someone else?! No! Blaine you're everything I don't want someone else, I need you!" Kurt said as he clung harder to Blaine's sweatshirt.
"I just don't want you to be alone when I'm gone, Kurt. It's coming soon."
"B-but don't you love me?" Kurt voice was small and dripping with angst.
Blaine began to full on cry. Just knowing that Kurt had any doubts about how much he loved him was too much.
"Of course I do! God, Kurt I love you more than anything. More than life, okay?! Please never forget how I much I love you." Blaine choked out through his cries.
Kurt softly nodded, "Okay."
~And anything to make you smile.
You are the ever-living ghost of what once was.
I never want to hear you say,
That you'd be better off.
Or you liked it that way.~
They stayed silently laying intertwined together for awhile. Coming down from their breakdowns with soft sniffles.
"Kurt..." Blaine broke the long silence.
"Yeah?" Kurt's voice was scratchy from all of the previous sobs.
"Can I tell you a secret?" Blaine softly asked.
"You can't tell me anything." Kurt positioned his head on Blaine's shoulder so he was looking up at him.
"You know...I was going to marry you." Blaine softly smiled, "I had everything planned out. We were going to have a big, happy wedding. Here in New York with all of our loved ones. I didn't really think about the food or the decorations. Just...that I was going to marry you." He nuzzled his cheek into Kurt's warm, soft hair.
"Blaine-" Kurt began.
"Yes, love?"
"I thought about it all the time."
"Really?"
"Always." Kurt said with a shaky voice, "I love you so much. Even if we aren't going to be together anymore, I'll always love you."
"I'll always love you too, Kurt." Blaine said.
Kurt softly sighed, "I feel like I have so much to say, but at the same time nothing at all."
"I understand."
~But no one's gonna love you more than I do.
No one's gonna love you more than I do.~
Could I- kiss you Blaine? Just one more time." Kurt shyly whispered.
"You never have to ask." Blaine whispered back.
Kurt leaned in, not breaking the eye contact between them until both of their eyes slowly flickered shut.
Their lips softly touched and Kurt's stomach jolted at the all too familiar feeling and taste of Blaine's lips.
The kiss was soft and sweet, just so 'Kurt and Blaine.'
Blaine cupped Kurt's cheek as they both pulled away and softly stroked it. Kurt held in his tears and closed his eyes, resting his head head back onto Blaine's shoulder.
"No one's gonna love you more than I do." Blaine softly sang their song.
"I love you, Blaine."
"I love you, Kurt. Always."
*One Year Later*
It had been 5 months since Kurt and Blaine had last seen eachother.
They talked on the phone sometimes but it only consisted of small and awkward talk like; "How've you been?" "Okay." "Miss you." "Miss you too." "So I'll talk to you soon." "Of course." "Okay. Bye Blaine." "Bye Kurt."; and they would then both hang up and start crying all over again.
Blaine's doctor said he had maybe a few more months, and he excepted that.
He was doing one more small "farewell" concert for the small group of fans he actually had and was coming to the end of his last song.
"But someone, they should have warned you. When things start splitting at the seams and now the whole things tumbling down. Things start splitting at the seams and now. If things start splitting at the seams and now, it's tumbling down..." Blaine looked out into the audience.
In the back of the small bar by the door, he saw those eyes he adored, and those lips he had cherished in a small smile.
"Hard..." He ended the song and took his lips away from the microphone.
"I love you." He mouthed to Kurt.
Kurt nodded and mouthed back, "I love you." before giving him a small smile and walking out the door.
