The black lake’s rippling surface shimmered in the early morning sun. Kurt stretched, yawning, and settled against the rough bark of an oak tree nearby the waters shore. He extended his long, gangly legs to their full length then crossed his ankles, making himself comfortable.
A small, cool breeze tickled his face and rustled the grass and leaves above him as he admired his surroundings. Hogwarts sat perched on the large hillside to his left, as grand and majestic as ever. It was Kurt’s fourth year at Hogwarts, he enjoyed it mostly, the only real downfall of the magical school was the fact that there were no music classes, or even some sort of art class he could plan weekend outfits, or design new ones altogether. In his first year Kurt had gone to see the headmaster –naturally- in hope that with his suggestion for him to come up with some sort of art club (there was already a choir) that his actions would be successful, but Professor Dumbledore simply let him down lightly with a ‘sorry’ and that Hogwarts was a school of magic, not art. And so Kurt had gone on to join the choir, he would be perfect for it, of course, being a counter tenor and all, but the choir wasn’t very exiting. No Celine Dion, no Whitney Huston, and much to Kurt’s disappointment, certainly no Beyonc.
So here he sat on a beautiful Saturday noon, out of his school robes which he oh so hated and in something much more comfortable, much more Kurt. Some would say that a white button down shirt, fitted tight jeans and a pair of chunky white Doc-Martins Kurt had somehow managed to fit in his trunk was too much, to extravagant for such a sunny day, but not Kurt, and most certainly not Blaine.
He was admiring Kurt from a distance, watching him twirl his wand in-between his long, pale fingers, watching his eyes move around the people before him, the gang of Slytherins on the other side of the lake, the occasional couple dotted here and there over the large Hogwarts grounds, around to the small group of Gryffindor who were braving all and paddling about the shallows of the lake and throwing some of their lunch into the water for the giant squid to gargle up. Kurt’s eyes finally swept around to Blaine. Blaine smiled at Kurt whose cheeks were reddening ever so slightly as he smiled back; Blaine could feel his doing the same as he realized he had stopped to take a look at the excellent view.
Lifting his broom father up his shoulder, Blaine moved on up to where Kurt sat. He looked no where as good as Kurt did. He was wearing an old Wasps team t-shirt and sweatpants, Blaine suddenly felt very underdressed, and hot too, the sun was beating down harshly on Hogwarts.
“Hey, how was practice?” Kurt asked sweetly as soon as Blaine was leaning his broom against the tree trunk. He smiled down at Kurt, his lips stretching even wider as he flattened his shirt and plopped down next to Kurt.
“Brutal, Coach Sylvester came down to the pitch to watch practice. It’s really hard to play whilst having her shout at you, she’s so rude, I don’t get why old Dumbledore keeps her here, and she’s so horrible to everyone! And I’ve got a new nickname, too!” (He rubbed his forehead, rather self-consciously at that) “And hand picked me and Tina to clean the bludgers! And guess who’s the new Slytherin captain is?” Blaine asked looking exasperated and ever-so-slightly angry. Kurt looked at him quizzically.
“Karofsky! Can you believe it?”
Kurt frowned at this. Karofsky had been on his case since his second year when he came out to his friend, Mercedes and Karofsky had unfortunately overheard. Kurt’s had to put up with being harassed for the last three years, he refused to tell anybody about it, the only person who knows is Mercedes, who insists that he tells somebody about it but Kurt only shook his head and mumbled something along the lines of “I don’t wanna make a big fuss over it.”
“Brilliant, something else to fill his already enormously large head.” Kurt scoffs with a roll of his eyes.
Blaine laughed and smiled at Kurt, “Sorry, I’ve been rambling,” he leaned in shyly and planted a small, chaste kiss on Kurt’s ridiculously soft cheek. “Hello,” he said quietly.
Both boys were blushing furiously; this was still all new territory for both of them. Blaine had come out to Kurt around a month back whilst they were both trying to work out an extremely complicated horoscope chart for divination during a free period. Blaine had already told his family, he explained, who weren’t so excepting as Kurt was. It was no secret that Kurt was gay, ever since he had come out to Mercedes, his personality hand shown it’s self in full bloom with the only way Kurt Hummel knew how: fashion. He was the school’s ‘gay kid’, sure there were a few other guys and girls out, but none of them were as, well… obvious.
Blaine had cried in Kurt’s arms for most of the free period, sobbing about how much he hated life back home and about how nobody loved him. It was then, that Blaine confessed his feelings for Kurt, in which Kurt had confessed his own for the smaller boy who seemed to shrink in his arms after every sob wracked his body.
They had only become official until around two weeks ago, they didn’t arrange or decide anything the night they shared their feelings for each other, and Blaine wasn’t ready to be as open with the whole school as he was with Kurt.
But now everybody knew, and both boys couldn’t stop smiling. Not exactly everyone was gay-friendly at Hogwarts, mostly everyone though accepted them, apart from the Slytherins, of course.
Being in Gryffindor (and small) Blaine was an excellent target for the large, thick headed bunch, and even though Kurt was in Ravenclaw, being as, well, flamboyant as he was, was an excuse to harass Kurt, and have a reason for it. They both got through it well together but sometimes it was too much for Kurt, or Blaine and even sometimes, both of them. And still, they ploughed through all the hate and the rewards were excellent. Kurt could still feel his face burning as he stared into Blaine’s frosty, yet extremely warm and comforting tea-coloured eyes. It may sound ridiculous, but Kurt thought that Blaine’s kiss on his cheek was the best thing, like ever, and he couldn’t wait for more. He was still getting used to the back-flips his insides do whenever he’s touched by Blaine.
“So why’ve yo-“Kurt began, and was rudely interrupted. Both boys flinched at that cold voice.
“Well, boys… look who it is, pigmy and mudqueer.” Karofsky sneered, drawing closer with his gang of Slytherins: his best friend Azemio, Jessie, Santana, some kid called Mike, a girl called Bethany and another called Sebastian, who was eyeing up Blaine, acting as though he liked what he saw, much to Kurt’s annoyance.
Blaine shot to his feet as soon as Karofsky’s last word left his lips. “What did you just say?” He asked through gritted teeth, his hands balling into fists, his wand clutched tightly in his right.
Karofsky smirked and looked around at his friends, looking for some sort of approval. “I’m sorry, did that make you angry?” He said, forcefully. “Well do you know what makes me angry?”
“The fact that your head is far too big for your brain capacity?” Kurt interjected, before Karofsky could answer. “Leave it Blaine, if this conversation lasts for over at least five minutes, his brain will go walkies, and we can’t be having that, it’s already far too lost up in that uber-skull.” He said in an undertone, but still loud enough for Dave to hear.
Dave’s head swiveled around to meet Kurt; Blaine flexed and stood closer to Kurt, terrified of what this boy could do. “Shut it, mudblood.” He spat.
Blaine flexed again.
“C’mon, we’re leaving.” Kurt said huffily, grabbing Blaine’s arm and turning to fetch hid broom from the tree trunk.
“Aren’t you boys going to congratulate me on my new role in the Slytherin Quidditch team?” Karofsky’s smirk made Kurt feel sick.
“No, I’d rather fill my nostrils with bubotuter pus.” Kurt retorted, as snarky as ever.
Azemio spoke up, “You know, that could be arranged.” He smiled evilly and stepped forward, rubbing his hands together.
Kurt jumped up next to Blaine, wand in hand.
“No, Kurt, I don’t want you getting hurt.” Blaine said softly, Kurt rolled his eyes and stepped forward. He pointed his wand out in front of him, straight at Azemio.
“Take a hike, Azemio.” Kurt said forcefully.
“Confundo-“
“Expelliamus!” Kurt caught Azemio’s wand in his left hand, a phony smile on his face.
The wand-bearer stepped forward, shoving Kurt and trying to grab his wand back. Kurt panicked for a moment, he hadn’t been physically harassed in a while, but Blaine was in front of him, pushing Azemio off.
“Get- off!” his voice was muffled, angry and twisted.
“HEY! What the hell is going on here?” said a voice from not too far off.
Coach Sue was striding over to where the group was. Azemio stepped back in a panic, knowing he was to get caught.
“Well this certainly doesn’t look like a play date, what happened?” She demanded, crossing her arms and looking around the group of students, all who looked terrified to have been caught in the scene. “Well?”
Blaine, who still looked murderous, stepped forward and began to explain, but was over spoken by the many Slytherins.
“Nah, I know what happened, you seven, come with me. Pukka, give Azemio his wand back.” Sue turned to walk away but faced Blaine, “Oh, and triangles, I wouldn’t go leaving ma valuables outside so carelessly.” She pointed at his wand and swiveled back round as Kurt chucked Azemio his wand.
Once the small group was far gone, Blaine relaxed a little bit and turned to Kurt. He was giggling into his hand, and was also sitting back down, his expression made Blaine settle completely and sat back down, too.
“What?” He asked with a smile, which only grew wider as Kurt started to laugh a little more, “What?” He asked again, poking Kurt in the ribs, but all Kurt did was point above his eyes and laugh a little harder. It suddenly dawned on Blaine and he covered his face with his hands and buried himself between his legs.
“T-tr-trrriangles!” Kurt burst.
Blaine moaned into his hands and when Kurt settled down, although he did giggle here and there sometimes, he tried to talk to Blaine, who was jokingly not taking to him and turning away from his touch.
“Hey, I’m just kidding!” Kurt said, poking Blaine’s pressure point at his waist and making him jump.
Blaine pouted and kurt grabbed a hold of his chin and pulled Blaine’s face towards his, “I love your ‘triangles’.” He said sweetly and kissed both of them.
Blushing furiously, Blaine wrapped his arm around Kurt’s waist and pulled him in.
Blaine was feeling brave today.
“And I love your eyes,” He leaned in and kissed both of Kurt’s closed eyelids, “and I love your cheeks,” Blaine kissed both Kurt’s cheeks which were brick red, “and I love your forehead,” He kissed that a few times too, “and I love your nose”, he kissed the tip of Kurt’s nose, making him giggle, “and most importantly, I love your lips.” Blaine’s last word was barely audible. He leaned in and kissed Kurt’s lips, pressing his against his boyfriends who reacted likewise.
If Kurt could, he’d grab his wand and make fireworks and flowers and sparkles shoot out above their heads, but he was way too engrossed. His right hand was cupped around Blaine’s cheek and the other was wrapped around his neck. Blaine however, had moved on to his knees to get better access to Kurt’s super sweet lips that sent shocks through his body, his hands were holding Kurt’s waist.
When the need for air became compulsory, they both broke off, panting. Blaine grinned, and then Kurt copied him. They hugged tightly, giggling.
“Thank you.” Kurt said, his voice muffled against the stubbly skin of his boyfriends neck, which he kissed afterwards, making Blaine shudder.
They sat together, enveloped in each others warmth and love. “Lunch?” Blaine asked as some pupils started to make their way back up to the castle. Kurt nodded and the boys clasped their hands, Blaine grabbed his broom and they started to stroll happily up to Hogwarts.
