Klainebingo prompt fill For some insane reason, Kurt was suddenly homesick and decided he wants to visit home when he's near his due date. Blaine was too much of a pushover to deny Kurt.
Author's Notes: I dont know the finer details of being pregnant and giving birth so apologies for mistakes on that. Also, i suck at titles. :) Please feedback! I want to improve on my writing. Thanks for reading!
“I still can't believe I got roped into doing this. Pregnant people that are nine months along shouldn't be allowed to get on a plane.” Blaine had his arms full of a very pregnant Kurt, leaning heavily against him, as the taxi drove them to Burt and Carole's home.
For some reason, Kurt decided the day before that he wanted to have their baby at home. Which was weird to Blaine since he always thought Kurt never really felt at home in Lima. But since it was Kurt's first pregnancy, he'd been bending over backwards just to fulfill every one of Kurt's wishes even the irrational ones. So he booked the flight without argument, regardless of how rash and crazy he thought the idea was. They already had a birthing plan ready which they've gone through multiple times over the last month. All that was thrown out the window now. He was never gladder that being a famous Broadway star afforded him to grant his husband's wishes.
“But you can never say no to me. And celebrities like you can get away with anything.” Kurt said this with a playful pout and a wide-eyed look with his baby blues. He knew it was cruel to exploit his husband's weakness to that look, but Kurt had been feeling crappy since the flight. He had been feeling Braxton-Hicks contractions a little after take-off and they had persisted since then. He was being evil, truly, for putting Blaine through so much. He had been demanding and moody throughout the pregnancy, not to mention whiney. He acknowledged that he had always been a bit bitchy, but his pregnant self managed to be a bitch and a cry-baby all at once. But his darling husband had been so stalwart and understanding. Blaine was a saint, really.
Just like right now, here Kurt was, working up to getting crabby, while Blaine was smiling down on him placidly. It was slightly infuriating. It made him want to pick a fight. So he did.
“You don't fight with me anymore,” Kurt started. “You're so agreeable, it's irritating.”
“I just can't work up a proper mad at you, honey. I'm just too happy,” Blaine replied with one of his infuriatingly besotted smiles.
“How can you even stand me? I can't even stand myself! And I'm as big as a house! I keep stuffing myself with pizza, I didn't even used to like pizza that much!” His ever-ready tears were already threatening to fall now.
Blaine was slightly relieved to see that he can finally view Burt and Carol's driveway, meaning he can divert Kurt before he got into a full-blown episode.
“We're almost home sweetie, you can quarrel with me when we get inside,” he placated Kurt as the taxi slowed down the driveway. He kissed Kurt's forehead while nudging him so they can alight the vehicle.
“Don't patronize me! And you're just trying to distract me with your affections and obnoxiously good humor,” Kurt replied with a frown. Just then a particularly strong contraction seized him as he was getting out, and he gripped Blaine's hand so hard, alerting his husband. Kurt didn't want to Blaine to know of his discomfort because he might get over-protective.
“Kurt, honey, is something wrong?”
“Nothing, it's just a little- aahhh!!!” A stronger contraction came and he couldn't hold back his gasp from the pain. Blaine's eyes grew large and he started looking panicky.
At the same time, Burt burst open the main door, quite shocked at their unannounced arrival. “Kurt what the hell do you think you're doing?! And what's going on?!”
Blaine supported Kurt as they both staggered toward the entrance. “Kurt's having contractions!”
“They're just Braxton-Hicks, there's nothing to worry about,” Kurt replied as he waddled into the living room.
Carole came into the living room, having been told by Burt about the situation. “Oh dear. Kurt, how often have you been having them?”
“Every couple minutes. They're just Braxton-Hicks!”
“I never should have let you talk me into coming here! And now you're in labor!”
“Oh my God!” Burt shouted.
“Because I want to have my mom and dad when I have my baby!” He was starting to cry as he reached for his dad.
“We could have just asked them to come to New York earlier!”
“You're fighting with me again.” Kurt said with a smile, even as his cheeks were streaked with tears. “I love you. You're the best husband in the world.”
Blaine was completely thrown by Kurt's sudden change in demeanor but was so disarmed by Kurt that he replied with “I love you too, baby.” Which got them temporarily distracted, staring into each other's eyes.
“Blaine?”
“Yes, honey?”
“Are my feet wet?”
“Kurt, your water just broke! Oh my God!”
“You can't have your kid here! We have to get you to the hospital!” Burt shouted as he directed Kurt towards the door again. Blaine was on the other side, nudging Kurt another way. They were jostling Kurt and got into a panicked argument which way to move Kurt. It was a laughable sight if it weren't so alarming.
“Okay, calm down everybody” Carole said loudly over their voices. “Burt and Blaine, can you please help Kurt into the nearest bedroom while I go fetch some towels?”
They finally had Kurt lying on the bed. Burt left the room to heat some water while Blaine stayed and took off Kurt's shoes and pants. Carole came in and set the towels. She steadily issued instructions to Blaine while checking on Kurt. Blaine was running on auto-pilot, too shocked to do more than obey Carole.
Before long, Kurt was gripped with intense pain that was way greater in magnitude than the earlier contractions. Pretty soon, he had Blaine's hand in a death grip while he breathed heavily, in and out, and giving periodic pushes on Carole's prompting. And with a final shout, pushing like he never pushed before, there came a soft mewling and then an unmistakable baby's cry. Kurt fell back on the pillows, completely exhausted.
“Oh my god, that's our baby girl!” Blaine was unmindful of the pain in his left hand due to Kurt's tight hold earlier. He was completely amazed at the new life they just brought into the world.
Burt came in with warm water to wash and more cloth to wash the baby and cover her with.
“Look at you, you lovely girl!”
Burt and Carole handed the cleaned up baby to her parents. Blaine laid her on Kurt's chest and settled on his side, trying to embrace father and child. “She looks like an Emma, doesn't she?” Blaine was wearing his besotted look again, and this time Kurt didn't mind it one bit. He knew the feeling. They were already so in love with their little girl, it's crazy. They're gonna be overly doting parents, he could tell.
“Yes she does,” Kurt replied with a tired but happy smile. He was sweaty and ragged from the exhausting ordeal, but he couldn't be happier. “Welcome to the world, beautiful Emma.”
