We've Been Here Too Long

Just a quick little drabble I wrote for Klaine Week. This goes under day 3 (posted a day early, I know) as it's a missing moment of how I saw things going when Kurt and Blaine left Rachel's party in Blame It On The Alcohol. But let's pretend that Blaine and Rachel never kissed. Cause that kiss was good for no one (except Rachel's song writing). Oh, and this is my first ever fanfic. Just putting out there!

We’ve been here too long, tryin’ to get along, pretending that you’re oh so shy,” Blaine slurred along with the song coming from the radio. “Come on, Kurt! Sing!”

I’m a natural ma’am, doing all I can, my temperature is running high,” Blaine continued, swinging his head side to side violently along with the guitars.

“Jeez, Blaine,” Kurt giggled, trying to keep his eyes on the road. He, at the same time, also had to try to avoid getting head-butted by Blaine who kept going with his singing and vicious seated dancing.

They had just left Rachel’s party and were now well on their way in the car. Blaine had point blank refused, back at the party, when Kurt offered to drive him home.

“No. Nope, no way, no,” Blaine had stuttered. “No, if I get home and I see my parents… Kurt, I will die of embarrassment. Like, seriously. I will die.” He said drunkenly, drawing out on the last word dramatically.

Kurt had then proceeded to tell Finn that Blaine was gonna crash with them tonight. Whilst Kurt was talking to his brother, Blaine had managed to sneak up behind him, hitch his chin over Kurt’s shoulder and whisper “Die” nodding his head in an intense slow way, eyes a bit too wide and staring at Finn.

So here they were, in the car, two o’clock in the morning and on their way back to the Hudson-Hummel household. With Blaine screaming along to a Joan Jett song.

DO YOU WANNA TOUCH? DO YOU WANNA TOUCH? DO YOU WANNA TOUCH ME THERE? WHERE? THERE. YEAH,” Blaine just about screamed out along with the chorus.

“Oh my god,” Kurt said under his breathe. “No, Blaine, get off me,” Kurt attempted to stifle his chuckle, trying to keep a straight face so as not to encourage Blaine any further. He had currently put his hands flat up against the side of Kurt’s face, sliding them down slowly and on to his shoulders all whilst trying to look seductive in light of keeping up with the tone of the song.

“I’m performing, Kurt. Appreciate the fine arts … of rock and roll!” He said, sticking his tongue out and making horn signs with his hands.

“Okay, rock star, whatever you say,” Kurt answered back absentmindedly, pulling into the driveway as they arrived.

He switched off the car’s engine and turned to face Blaine.

“Now, Blaine, we’re gonna go inside. You’re going to have to be really quiet going upstairs though because there are people sleeping, okay?” He elaborated slowly, making sure it stuck for Blaine.

“Okay, okay, yeah. Yeah, I can be quiet. I can be all – I can be all stealth,” Blaine retaliated, narrowing his eyes and ducking his head. “Eh? Got some moves, don’t I?” He nodded proudly and waited for Kurt’s praise.

Kurt just shook his head, highly amused by how drunk Blaine acted compared to sober Blaine.  He got out of the car, and went round to the other side to help Blaine out.

“Okay, remember: quiet,” Kurt said, looking firmly at Blaine as they arrived in front of the door.

“Yes, got it. Quiet. Stealth,” Blaine mumbled, giving Kurt two very jazz hand like thumbs up signs.

Kurt retrieved his keys from his jacket pocket, squinting in order to place the right one so they could get inside.

Kurt managed to get the door open and stepped inside silently. Blaine, on the other hand, tripped over the threshold causing somewhat of a loud disturbance as he let out a yelp.

Kurt winced, hoping the sound wouldn’t be heard by his dad and Carole.

“Oops,” Blaine giggled loudly to himself as he got up off the floor, straightening up again. “Oops. I – I accidentally tripped a bit there. But I didn’t break the stealth mode. No, that I did not.” He said in an exaggerated whisper.

“Oh, lucky us,” Kurt whispered back sarcastically. “Not far now, just up the stairs, Blaine.”

Seeing him tumble a bit, Kurt quickly grabbed a hold of Blaine’s waist and steadied him before he could fall over again. Blaine draped his arm around Kurt’s shoulders, snuggling in to his neck sleepily.

“No, Blaine, concentrate on walking,” Kurt whispered, nudging his head back up to make sure he continued walking up the stairs properly. He did not want another fall, especially not one down the stairs.

After having successfully dragged Blaine up the stairs they finally reached Kurt’s bedroom. Kurt sat Blaine down on his bed so he could go close the door properly so his parents wouldn’t hear Blaine who had now begun quietly singing the same Joan Jett song as before.

When Kurt turned around again, Blaine had crawled up further on his bed, burrowing his head down in the mass of pillows cascaded on it.

“Mm, so cosy,” he hummed to himself, eyes closed and hands curled up to his chest.

Kurt smiled.

“Aren’t you gonna come sleep too?” A dazed Blaine asked abruptly, looking up at him as if worried that Kurt was going to leave him there

“Yeah. Yeah, I am,” Kurt said reassuringly, and moved on over to the left side of his bed.

But first, he quickly slid off his shirt that he had on and pulled out an old t-shirt that seemed appropriate to sleep in.

“You sure you don’t want to change or anything? You could borrow something, I probably I have something that would fit -”

His sentence was interrupted by a soft snore coming from Blaine.  He’d fallen asleep.

Kurt sighed and smiled lightly. He made to move some of the pillows that were on his side but left the ones that Blaine had buried himself in in fear of waking him. He got down under the covers, pulling them over Blaine as well so he wouldn’t be cold.

“Goodnight, Blaine,” he whispered, and drifted off to sleep.
