The sun was glistening off of Charles de Gaulle airport. The excitement coming from Blaine’s husband was flooding over him. They were married. This was their honeymoon. He had finally gotten Kurt to Paris. Blaine kept the whereabouts of their honeymoon destination a secret from Kurt, though it had certainly been a challenge. Kurt spent the last year and half obsessing and agonizing over every detail of their wedding. Blaine knew how much trust it had taken Kurt to let him take care of the honeymoon and, above all, keep it secret. They were married in New York after living there together for six years. Kurt graduated from Pearson’s and Blaine from NYU. Times were difficult for them. Kurt was having a difficult time in the fashion world and Blaine was only a high school music teacher. None of that mattered now though. They were in Paris and the happiness coming from Blaine’s husband was enough to live on for eternity. From the moment Blaine had finally shown Kurt the plane tickets, his husband hadn’t let go of him. Kurt was pressed into Blaine’s side even while they waited through the customs line. When they got out of the airport with their bags in hand, Kurt took a moment to look around at the city before him before flinging himself into Blaine’s arms.
“Je t’aime.” Kurt said sweetly, looking into his husband’s hazel eyes. He leaned in and kissed him. They had spent the hours since they’d gotten married kissing whenever they could but this was different. It was sweet, gentle, and chaste. Nothing was rushed and time seemed to slow down. When the kiss ended they pulled back only enough to look into each other’s eyes. Blaine was certain he could never feel this happy again.
“Je t’aime,” he whispered back to Kurt. A shy smile appeared on Kurt’s face and Blaine couldn’t help but smile back at him. The moment that seemed to last an eternity finally caught up to them.
“I’m in Paris,” Kurt exclaimed, “We’re in Paris!” Blaine watched as Kurt jumped up and down in front of him. The excitement of their actual location enveloping him. No matter how much he tried, there would never be a way for Blaine to describe the look on Kurt’s face.
“Come on Baby. There’s all of Paris to see.” Blaine entwined their hands and pulled Kurt in the direction of the taxis that were lined up along the front of the airport. Blaine had strategically booked their flight so that they would arrive in Paris in the morning. It was only 9am. When they got in a taxi, Blaine told the driver which hotel to take them to. The newly weds sat with their sides pressed together and Kurt’s face pressed to the window. It took a little longer to get to the hotel than Blaine had expected. When they arrived, they gathered their bags once again and checked in. The room that Blaine reserved also contained a surprise for Kurt. They went up several floors in the elevator. When they got to the room, Blaine handed Kurt the key. He took it gingerly and swung the door open. They stood in the hallway, the door wide open, looking at each other. It had been Blaine’s intention to carry Kurt over the threshold but looking at Kurt he changed his mind. Blaine put his feet right up to the edge of the doorway, motioning for Kurt to do the same. When they were standing side by side, Blaine turned his head to look at Kurt, who was looking back at him with a questioning expression on his face.
“Give me your hands,” He told Kurt. Kurt linked their hands with no hesitation. They were standing so close that all they could see of the other was his eyes.
“On the count of three.” Blaine started to count off but Kurt stopped him.
“At least count in French, Blaine.” They burst into laughter for a few moments before gathering themselves back together.
Un...Deux...Trois
Both boys put one foot over the threshold and the second their feet slid to the other side, Blaine kissed his husband. He had decided in that moment, standing in front of the door, that he wanted this to be something they shared equally. Later on, Blaine would realize the symbolism of the moment. Kurt pulled away from the kiss and sighed, his warm breath washing over Blaine’s lips. Still holding hands, they walked into the room. After getting their bags from the hallway, Kurt inspected the room. Blaine conveniently placed himself in front of the window, making himself busy with his suitcase. When Kurt walked back into the room from the bathroom he made straight for the window. As he was reaching out to the curtain, Blaine gently grabbed his hand. Kurt looked over his shoulder to find Blaine standing directly behind him, one arm was gently but firmly wrapped around Kurt’s waist. Blaine placed his chin on Kurt’s shoulder and nodded. Kurt reached over again and pulled open the curtain. Blaine could feel Kurt’s gasp through his whole body. Directly out of their window was the most spectacular view of the Eiffel Tower.
“It’s beautiful,” Kurt whispered, turning his head to the side and placing kiss to his temple.
“I thought you would love it.” Blaine responded. Kurt turned in Blaine’s arms.
“I love you,” he stated matter of factly before kissing his husband for the millionth time in the last 24 hours.
