Call It Anything But Love

The Unexpected Kitten Fiasco

Summary: Written for this prompt I received from lonniek: In the style of a children's book about kittens and sunshine and bread. Of course if you decide to write about porn I won't exactly be upset or anything. So basically all of that.

Author's Notes: A/N: I basically decided to take it all very literally and set it down in the middle of our Call It Anything But Love Verse. Which then led to the great Bedtime Stores Verse conversation in which Lonnie and I decided to do more comedy style fics in the tone of a children's novel. Be afraid. I just love Lonnie and I'm basically his bitch so yeah. This one's for you lonniek.
Once upon a time in a land far, faraway there lived a young man named Kurt Hummel. Kurt was well liked by his friends, he was loved greatly by his father, but Kurt felt very alone. You see, Kurt’s mother passed away when he was very little and no matter what his father did to try and make up for that loss, he never could. Kurt grew up angry and lonely and this led to some very bad decisions.

The first bad decision was to make the wrong friends. Kurt knew they were the wrong friends but they were nice to him and they stopped their other friends from tossing him in the dumpster and throwing slushies in his face, so Kurt stuck with them. Before long this one bad decision turned in to so many more that Kurt lost count. So did his dad. Especially when Kurt was arrested for attempted robbery.

Now Kurt had never been in any real trouble with the law before so he was tried in the juvenile court system. This meant that instead of jail time and a permanent record he would go to the Juvenile Detention Center with his friend Puck. Not that they were actually friends now. Puck ignored him and he ignored Puck. Really it was for the best. Kurt’s dad visited every chance he got and together they made a plan to keep Kurt out of trouble. When Kurt was released he would go to the Dalton Academy Reform School.

Even though Kurt hated the idea of a boarding school he didn’t mind the idea of never going back to McKinley High where the bullying and dumpster tossing and slushie throwing was likely to start back up now that he wasn’t friends with Puck. So Kurt’s dad made all the arrangements and four months later Kurt Hummel moved in to the Dalton Academy Reform School.

Now there are a couple of things you should know about the Dalton Academy Reform School. First of all it is almost entirely peopled by troubled boys. Well all the students are boys in fact, it is an all boys school. Aside from the faculty however, all of these boys have been in some form of trouble or another. Also, there is a strict uniform dress code. Kurt hates uniforms. Well, Kurt hates to wear uniforms; he maybe likes them on the other boys just fine. Did I forget to mention, Kurt Hummel is gay? This means he likes boys how some boys like girls. Since he was born this way he feels no shame about the matter. Finally, Dalton Academy Reform School is very strict about almost everything but very under staffed. This means that once a student knows the system they can get away with almost anything.

So it took some time, but Kurt did eventually learn to fit in. He wore his uniform every day, he attended his classes, even the boring ones, and even made a couple of friends, Wes and David. Wes and David had been there much longer and were able to teach Kurt all about sneaking around after curfew, hiding liquor in his room, and how to pretend he wasn’t hung over the next day in class. They became best friends fast. They even got Kurt to join the Warblers.

This is where our story really begins.

On this particularly sunny day Kurt, Wes, and David were all trying to think of something to do. It was Saturday so there were no classes and nowhere any of them had to be. Homework could be put off until tomorrow so they found themselves lying around Kurt’s room with nothing but time on their hands.

“I’m so bored.” David said.

“There’s nothing to do.” Wes said.

“I hate being stuck in this room.” Kurt said.

Now maybe you are thinking that they ought to just get up and do something, like go outside or watch television, but they were so bored that things like that didn’t sound good at all. In fact they were all settling in for another bout of whining when there was a loud sound out in the hall followed by the sound of running feet. All three of the boys were up and out the door to see what all the commotion was in less than twenty seconds.

Down the hall to the left toward the stairs they could see a group of boys running, heading for the staircase at breakneck speeds. One straggler was just passing Kurt’s door so Kurt reached out and grabbed his arm to stop him.

“What’s going on?” Kurt asked the boy.

The boy’s face lit up. “Someone found a bunch of kittens outside under the bleachers!” Then he tugged his arm free of Kurt and ran off down the hall and then down the stairs.

There was a moment when none of the boys spoke. Finally Kurt turned to look at Wes and David. “He said, kittens, right? They were running to see kittens?” Kurt was confused.

“Yeah, he said kittens.” Wes said.

The three of them stood like that for a moment longer and then they all seemed to come to the same conclusion. David stepped out into the hall the rest of the way and shut the door behind them. Even kittens were better than nothing. They did not, however, run.

When they got to the field outside, to the bleachers, it was easy enough to find the little crowd gathered around the seemingly abandoned group of kittens. The sun shown almost hot out here which was completely out of season for this time of year and Kurt found himself wishing he’d thought to bring his sunglasses. Kurt was not a huge fan of the sun. The sun was bright and warm and it caused bad things like tanning and sunburns and skin cancer. Kurt avoided the sun whenever possible.

However the kittens mewling took his mind off the sun briefly. There were five kittens in total and though Kurt didn’t know much about animals at all he could tell these were very young because they were so tiny. Sitting beside them in the dirt looking at them in a sort of awe was the kid who must have found them. Of course the “someone” that found the unfortunate creatures was none other than Blaine Anderson.

What can I say about Blaine Anderson? Well, the best description for Blaine is that he is a nerd. Not a nerd in a cool way, but in a really nerdy and sad way. Take his clothes for instance. Here they were in the middle of a Saturday, no uniform required and Blaine chose to wear khaki pants, a plaid button up, a green sweater vest and a yellow bow tie. Also, no socks with his loafers. Then there was his behavior in class. He was such a teacher’s pet. A real brown noser. His hand was always the first hand up for every question, and he was always right. He got on everyone’s nerves with that but no one worse than Kurt.

This was probably because the first time they met Blaine had run right into Kurt in the hall. Kurt never let people push him around like that and he’d had to let Blaine know that no matter what he was no exception. Then they were partnered up in English class and Kurt had to put up with him on a daily basis. It was almost unbearable. Probably for both of them but Kurt only cared about himself. He liked the life he’d made at Dalton and if he wanted to keep things as they were he could not be friends with a nerd like Blaine.

Blaine only looked up to meet Kurt’s eyes once and then he quickly shifted them back to the kittens. Kurt sighed.

“What are you going to do?” One of the newcomers asked Blaine.

“I think I‘ll have to take them in and tell the Dean about them on Monday. I can’t leave them out here.” Blaine sounded thoughtful. Wes was kneeling down reaching out to touch the head of the little white one with his finger.

“Yeah they’re too little to be left alone like this. I wonder what happened.” David said. One of the kittens mewed piteously at them all and a collective “Aw,” came out of the onlookers. Except of course for Kurt. He did not say aw for any reason. Not even fluffy tiny kittens.

Once it was decided firmly that the kittens would be moved Blaine sent someone in for a box. In the mean time onlookers came and went and Wes, David, and Kurt all ended up on the ground drawn inexorably toward the fluffy tiny beings rolling around on the ground. Kurt did not pick one up and kiss its nose the way Wes did, nor did he name any of them the way David did. He might have ended up with the little grey and white one on his lap but he was certain no one had seen how the kitten had ended up there.

Blaine did not try to speak to Kurt. They had an understanding that even adorable baby animals could not break. However Kurt could feel his eyes on him from time to time and for whatever reason it didn’t annoy him just now the way it normally would. Kurt believed this was due entirely to the fact that part of his brain accepted that Blaine was responsible for this current diversion and was subconsciously thanking him by keeping calm.

Eventually the box did arrive and Blaine carefully placed all of the kittens inside it for the ride back to the dorms. When he moved to take the grey and white one away, Kurt found he was reluctant to let it go. Still he handed it over to Blaine and watched as it curled up with its brothers and sisters in the box.

“They’ll need something to eat.” Blaine said, watching Kurt with careful eyes.

“Probably.” Kurt replied. Wes and David were waiting nearby to go.

“I mean, I don’t actually have anything and I don’t really know where to get anything and…” Blaine almost always talked this way, Kurt was used to it now. Also he realized that Blaine was asking him something without actually asking anything. Blaine could be very confusing like that.

“Are you trying to ask for my help?” Kurt asked him. Kurt could be very obvious like that.

“Yeah, I just thought, maybe, well, you seem to know your way around really well and maybe you know a way to get your hands on something they could eat or drink or…” Blaine’s voice trailed off and he swallowed hard. So hard it made his adam’s apple bob up and down. Twice.

Kurt was going to say no. He really was. The last thing he wanted to do was hang out with Blaine when he didn’t have to and teach him about breaking into the cafeteria after hours and the whole thing just sounded like it was going to suck but then that little grey and white head swung around and Kurt’s kitten meowed at hm. It was a tiny little sad little sound and there was just no way for Kurt to say no. Kurt was not cruel to animals; people maybe, but never animals.

Both Wes and David decided they were done with baby animals for the rest of the day and disappeared on Kurt as Kurt and Blaine crossed back across the field and headed back to the dorms. Kurt thought on three separate occasions that he should have said no to Blaine. He really should have.

Blaine led Kurt up the stairs, down the hall and to the right down the next hall until they came to his door. Admittedly Kurt had never seen the inside of Blaine’s room, but as they entered he thought it looked exactly as he’d imagined. Dull. There was a M. C. Escher print on one wall and a corkboard on the other. Everything was put in its proper place and even Blaine’s bed was so neatly made it looked as though it had never been slept in. Kurt knew t must be Blaine’s bed because the other bed was untidy and had a band t-shirt draped across the foot of it. Band t-shirts were not Blaine’s thing.

Carefully, Blaine set he kittens under his desk and turned around to look expectantly at Kurt.

“Well we can’t go right now.” Kurt began. “We can’t go till dark.” Kurt explained as though this should be something Blaine should know. Blaine didn’t know. He didn’t think about things like how to sneak around past curfew or hide liquor in his room or break into the cafeteria. That’s why he needed Kurt.

“Oh.” Blaine said softly. Then he shuffled his feet a bit and looked at the floor awkwardly. “Do you want to watch a move or something? While we wait? Or do you just want me to come get you later? Or do you want -?

“We can watch a movie.” Kurt interjected. Blaine was on a roll and Kurt didn’t know how long he would make Kurt just stand there while he droned on. Also it’s not as f Kurt had forgotten what was waiting for him back in his own room, nothing. No way he was going to kick around his room by himself for the next few hours waiting on Blaine to show up.

Blaine smiled. His smile was a little uncertain at first, a little like someone who wasn’t sure it was okay to smile, but then he was walking over to his bookshelf. Kurt took a seat on the end of Blaine’s bed and had one crazy moment of uncertainty himself. Except the thing he was uncertain about was whether or not any other guy had been on Blaine’s bed since Blaine moved in and it became Blaine’s bed. Probably not, his bran supplied and Kurt smiled because he was the first and he liked being the first at everything.

Then he stopped smiling because this was Blaine’s bed he was sitting on and Blaine he was thinking about and those things should not lead to sexy thoughts about anything. Ever. Gross.

Blaine was asking him about movies now anyway so he turned his attention there.

“Or if you don’t care for Disney maybe you would like a musical? I have a ton of those, what do you like?” t was clear to Kurt that he had missed some of this conversation already. So, like any sane person would do, he smiled and pretended to know exactly what was going on.

“Musicals, sure, what do you have?” Kurt leaned back a little on his hands and did his very best to appear nonchalant.

Blaine began rattling off his collection, in alphabetical order apparently and Kurt sat there hoping one would strike his fancy, and soon. “Oh, that one, yeah, um Camelot? I haven’t seen that in forever.” Kurt actually sat up straighter and felt a little rush of, what was it? Excitement maybe?

Very few things made Kurt excited anymore so the feeling was almost foreign to him. The thing that made Camelot so special was that it was his mother’s favorite musical and the very first one he had ever seen. After she passed away Kurt refused to watch it for years, but now, now it just seemed like it would be okay. It would be great even. Kurt Hummel was excited.

Blaine seemed happy enough and put the movie in and proceeded to join Kurt there on the end of the bed. It might have been weird or awkward but for whatever reason it wasn’t. Kurt assured himself that this was due mainly to the fact that there were not enough places to sit in this room and that this was Blaine’s bed and therefore Blaine had the right out the bed and Kurt was the one that sat there in the first place. Then the movie was starting and the music was sweeping Kurt along to another time and another place and the fact that he was in Blaine Anderson’s room sitting on his bed, right next to him.

Have you ever had that experience? Where a certain song plays and wraps itself around your memories and you see them all fresh and new like they happened yesterday? That’s how Kurt felt listening to the Overture that played at the beginning of the movie. Suddenly Kurt Hummel, king of teenage angst, was just Kurt, six years old and tucked up on the couch in his mother’s arms. Maybe it should have hurt but instead it was just really comforting. It was wonderful.

By the time Richard Harris was halfway through his first song, Kurt was singing along and Blaine was joining in softly with a surprisingly talented voice. By the time Vanessa Redgrave was singing about May and ruing the day the boys were laughing and bumping shoulders and knees and Kurt forgot all about being annoyed by Blaine and in fact he forgot about being annoyed by anything.

When Guinevere and Lancelot fell in love and he sang If Ever I Would Leave You, Blaine grabbed hold of Kurt’s sleeve and clung to it and Kurt’s heart sped up just a little. It was probably the movie doing that to him. Most likely he was having a physical reaction to the onscreen romance and the thrill of all those stolen moments between the lovers. That probably also accounted for the way Kurt shifted closer to Blaine and why when Blaine leaned his head over with a sigh during a particularly sweet kiss Kurt didn’t bother stopping him or moving him. Yes, he was quite wrapped up in this movie and therefore not in complete control of his actions. Musicals did that to people. It was common knowledge.

When Arthur and Guinevere sang What Do The Simple Folk Do, Kurt may have shed a few tears. He wasn’t proud of it but these things happen. During musicals. With songs and feelings. Blaine’s finger tip reached up and swipe the last one from his cheek and Kurt turned to look over at hm. Over at him and down because Blaine was still slightly shorter than he was, even sitting down.

Blaine could have said any number of stupid and pointless things then. Most people would have and Blaine was a talker if nothing else. Kurt steeled himself as best he could in preparation for all sorts of well wishing or prying questions. He forgot to steel himself against kisses though so he was completely taken by surprise when Blaine Anderson, Lord of the Geeks, leaned in and pressed his lips softly to Kurt’s. Suddenly it was just Blaine. Blaine and Kurt. And lips.

There are many different types of kisses. If you haven’t been on the receiving end of many aside from moms and dads and overeager relatives then you may not know the main types. A peck is the sort more like what your mom might give you as she tucks you in at night. Most likely this kiss is on your cheek, but sometimes it can be on the lips too and it’s nice enough. You may remember butterfly kisses and Eskimo kisses which are both well and good but nothing at all like what Blaine was doing just then. There are single lip kisses where one person sucks gently on the other person’s lip, just one. There are kisses that are brief and kisses that linger, some are about rubbing lips back and forth, and others are more about nibbling. There are kisses that involve a lot of sucking and tongue tangling. Oh usually those are called French kisses, but really a French kiss has come to mean almost any type of open mouth kissing and actually that’s what Blaine and Kurt were getting to just now. As a matter of fact we ought to stop discussing the many different types of kisses because the list is really long and just get back to what Kurt and Blaine are up to.

Blaine was a surprisingly good kisser. This was what Kurt thought when Blaine’s tongue slid gently against his bottom lip. His mouth opened in eager response allowing Blaine to dip his tongue into Kurt’s mouth and caress Kurt’s tongue. It is of some importance for you to know that Kurt was not used to kissing. He’d kissed and been kissed but not often and certainly not well. He was used to the brief sorts of kisses one might get in a bathroom stall before forcing someone down on their knees or turning someone around so that they faced away from you.

That was nothing like what Blaine was doing. He was slow moving and tender seeming and his tongue sought places in Kurt’s mouth that he’d never before considered for kissing like the hollow of his cheek or right behind his upper teeth. Even though these places were relatively unexplored and never considered before, Kurt thought they all felt amazing. Blaine really seemed to know what he was doing. Luckily, so did Kurt.

Before Guinevere made her frantic escape Kurt and Blaine were curled around each other on Blaine’s bed and Kurt had forgotten to care about it at all. He felt warm and full and hungry all at once and he couldn’t seem to get enough of kissing Blaine. Blaine’s hands only trembled a little as they slid up under Kurt’s t-shirt as Kurt’s hands moved frantically to untuck Blaine’s many layers. Eventually Blaine simply had to sit up and help Kurt and the two wound up facing each other wide eyed and shirtless and suddenly uncertain in the middle of it all.

Kurt was surprised again by Blaine. This time he was surprised because he found in Blaine’s eyes what he knew was in his own. Surprise. Wonder, uncertainty. And most of all the knowledge that neither one of them ought to be so eager for this to happen because they were enemies. Enemies did not kiss each other, or cling to each other, or rip each others clothes off. Not like this anyway. Not like it meant something or would mean something.

Somehow, seeing it there reflected in Blaine’s eyes made this okay. He took a quick breath. “I can’t make you promises.” Kurt said suddenly and he hated the sound of his own voce just then. It ruined the moment.

“Okay.” Blaine answered.

“I mean I’m not good with feelings and stuff. Or boyfriends. I don’t have boyfriends.” Kurt tried again. He realized that he was giving Blaine what’s known as an out. If Blaine wanted to stop now he could because Kurt was giving him a valid reason to do so.

Blaine smiled for some reason and Kurt didn’t know what to make of it. “I don’t remember asking you to be my boyfriend.” Blaine teased. Kurt had to smile because Blaine was just full of surprises. He was like that line from Forest Gump about the chocolates. Kurt never knew what he was going to find; especially now that he was looking in the box instead of just seeing it from afar.

Then they were kissing again and Kurt really enjoyed that, the kissing. He let it go on and on with tongues and lips and teeth and slowing down and heating up until he didn’t even know how long they’d been at it but they both seemed to suddenly realize at the same magical moment that they needed more. Right now.

The sun was setting outside the window and t cast the room in a hazy sort of orange glow as fingers fumbled at buttons and zippers until they were both forced to pull apart long enough to kick off shoes and pants and socks and underwear. Somehow Kurt was able to look on Blaine’s Spongebob boxers fondly when he knew that less than twelve hours ago he would have called lame on them in a second.

It was difficult to think of anything as lame when Blaine was laying down next to him without a stitch on and they were both running their hands over each other’s skin. Point of fact, it was difficult to think of anything other than the beautiful boy laying next to him.

Kissing was rough, hands were hurried and sooner than Kurt was really ready for Blaine was pulling lube and a condom from his bedside drawer. Kurt wasn’t surprised by Blaine any more. Too many surprises in too short a time had short circuited his brain most likely and he was happy not to have to think so much. This, as it turns out, was a lovely frame of mind to be in because Blaine was offering to pour the lube into Kurt’s hand and then he was laying back and spreading his legs.

Kurt’s mind had to come back to the present so he could focus on what needed doing, but that was okay, he liked everything about what he was about to do. Step one, one teasing finger that swirls around and dips gently into your partner’s ass. Step two, sinking that finger in slowly and twisting it round until aforementioned ass begins to relax. Steps three and four just involve carefully adding more fingers but Step five s where some of the real work begins because three fingers is so much more than one finger but still less than one cock. So the fingers have to massage and stretch and twist and turn and slowly pump in and out until your partner is ready for more.

More meant Blaine reaching down to slide the condom over Kurt’s dick, and then Kurt decided the sight of him there on his back was enough to let him stay in that position. Normally Kurt would turn his partner over so he didn’t have to see their face. It was sort of a habit for him more than any real desire to hide or objectify the guys he slept with. Mostly. This time however, seeing Blaine’s reactions slip across his face was almost as enjoyable as guiding the tip of his dick to rub around Blaine’s tight hole.

“Please.” Blaine was begging and it was the hottest thing Kurt had eve heard. Up tl that point of course.

Since Kurt couldn’t answer with words, because of the inability to use proper diction when he was about to fuck somebody, Kurt chose to answer in action. He slowly pressed forward into the tight ring of muscle waiting for him. It was very, very tight. Kurt felt a moan bubble up and fall from his lips before he could stop it. You see, Blaine was very hot inside and very slick feeling from all the lube and his muscles clamped down on Kurt’s dick like a vice. It felt fantastic. So much better than just jerking off and even better that what Kurt was used to with other guys. Also, Blaine’s face which was still holding Kurt’s attention somehow. When Kurt finally bottomed out he leaned down and kissed Blaine softly, holding his body tense and still waiting for Blaine to grow accustomed to the intrusion.

Blaine shifted and sighed and rolled his hips round very slowly and finally he spoke against Kurt’s mouth. “Please, Kurt, please, I need you to. I need you to move. Now.” Blaine’s pleas were so soft and so needy that Kurt swore he could feel them seep into his bones. He had to answer that plea. He was made to answer it; they were made for this, the two of them.

So Kurt began to slide n and out of Blaine, just little movements in the beginning that turned into bigger ones that eventually became Kurt’s hips snapping back and forth against Blaine’s body while Blaine tried desperately to match him by lifting his own hips off the bed. Both of them were mostly quiet except for the soft sighs and moans and stuttered breaths, it was as if their whole focus was narrowed down to just the way their bodies were connected.

Kurt knew nothing outside of the incredible pressure of Blaine’s ass and Blaine knew nothing outside of Kurt’s dick pounding into him and the way their flesh sounded as it hit out a rhythm in the stillness of the room. Soon, much too soon Kurt could feel his orgasm building.

Kurt had always found orgasms to be fickle things. Oh he could have one any time and he did most every day, but they weren’t as intense or as satisfying as those he had during sex. Even oral sex. Then there were the differences between partners. One might make Kurt come until he thought he might pass out but the next barely made Kurt come enough to count. Orgasms were fickle but Kurt had a feeling this one was going to be amazing. But Kurt needed Blaine to come first.

He leaned down and caught Blaine’s lips in a searing kiss and he pressed his body to Blaine’s as best he could. In this position he was trapping Blaine’s cock between their stomachs. He pressed against Blaine, deliberately rubbing their stomachs as his hips rolled into Blaine’s, now at a slower pace. A steady pace, one that brought Blaine to his orgasm faster than Kurt expected. As Blaine came with a shout Kurt ran headfirst into his own orgasm and together they lay tangled and sweating and panting. Kurt knew hands down that was the hardest he’d ever come in his life. And it was all Blaine’s doing. Blaine Anderson, sex god.

“That was-“ Blaine cut him off mid sentence.

“Just kiss me again before we have to get up.” Blaine whispered hoarsely.

“Okay, but who said anything about getting up?” Kurt asked. He was honestly curious.

“Kittens Kurt. We have to feed the kittens.” Blaine said, and this time his voice almost sounded sad. That thought did funny things to Kurt’s insides. He didn’t want Blaine sad. Kurt did not want Blaine to be sad. Now. Or ever. He was having some sort of revelation and it made his stomach flip over. Oh yeah, kittens.

“Right well, I, don’t you have anything in here?” Kurt asked and a touch of desperation crept into his normally smooth voice.

Blaine appeared to think about that for a minute. Then he looked into Kurt’s eyes. “I think I have some bread somewhere.” He said thoughtfully.

Kurt took time to consider this option, but he knew it was no good. “No, I guess that won’t do.” Kurt said, and now he was the one sounding sad. He leaned over and kissed Blaine deeply just as Blaine had asked. When he finally pulled back he tugged Blaine’s hand. “Come on, we should hurry.” He said with a smile.

“Why are we hurrying?” Blaine asked, and now he was the curious one.

“Were hurrying so we can get those kittens of yours fed and we can get back in this bed.” Kurt said and then he pulled Blaine into his arms and kissed him again.

Blaine broke the kiss first. “Is that a promise I detect, Kurt Hummel?” He grinned and there wasn’t a trace of sadness in his voice. It made Kurt smile back.

“The first of many I’m sure, Blaine Anderson.” Kurt just shrugged sort of sheepishly. You see Kurt Hummel never liked rules much. Not even his own.

The kittens did get fed that night. As if by some stroke of kitten fairy godmother magic the kitchen pantry actually had kitten food and cat food. The boys spent the rest of the night cuddling the little kitties and each other and making promises about the future.

Maybe it wasn’t happily ever after just yet, but Kurt Hummel could see how it could be some day and that good enough for him.

The End

This is beautiful and wonderful and everything is right in this awful, miserable world.

This is a wonderful piece of work and I cannot WAIT to turn this into a verse~
