Blaine sniffled, wiping his eyes dry when he heard a knock at the door. His parent's weren't home, they were gone for the weekend and he took advantage of the empty house by sitting on the living room couch watching sappy movies, bawling his eyes out. Kurt was leaving tomorrow. Leaving. For New York. New York. It was at least a ten hour drive, give or take. He knew this, of course. He knew it was going to happen. But it really hit him today when he was helping Kurt pack. When they said their goodbyes for the night, he barely made it to his car before he started crying. But he made sure Kurt didn't see him.
"Com-" He cleared his throat. "Coming!" He turned off his TV and walked over to the door, sniffling once more. He was very surprised when he opened the door to find his boyfriend standing there. "Kurt."
"He-Hey cutie." Kurt gave a small smile.
"Hi." Blaine returned the smile, only it was a sad smile. While he was thrilled to have an extra moment with Kurt, it still didn't change the fact that he was leaving. "C'mere." Blaine took Kurt's hand and pulled him to him, tightly.
Kurt squeezed Blaine slightly, breathing him in. He notice before, though, that Blaine had been crying. "You okay?" Kurt whispered against Blaine's ear.
Blaine nodded. "Yeah, yeah. I'm fine." He pulled away, letting Kurt fully into the house and shutting the door. "I thought you were going to bed early?"
"Well," Kurt lingered in the entryway, turning towards Blaine. Blaine leaned back against the door. "There's, uh, something that I- that I was going to give you tomorrow. But," He seemed very nervous, Blaine noticed. "I really couldn't wait. So I came over to give it to you before I go to bed."
"Oh?" Blaine smiled slightly, trying to fight back the sadness he felt. He tried his best to keep Kurt from seeing how much him leaving was actually killing him.
Kurt nodded, reaching into his pocket, pulling out a little velvet box, fiddling with it a bit. "I, um, I got you this, because I know how hard it is, how hard it's going to be. I want you to know that I believe in us, I have no doubt we'll get through it." He handed the box to Blaine, his heart raced as did Blaine's. Kurt hoped Blaine didn't think this was too much, too heavy. And Blaine was just stunned for a moment, seeing the velvet box.
"Kurt," He started, but then he opened the box to find a sterling silver ring, with the word "Courage" engraved into it. Blaine's heart melted, and a few tears escaped his eyes. "Kurt, this is beautiful."
"It's a promise ring. I had 'courage' engraved in it because, that's what we have to have. We have to have courage. If it's too much, you don't have to wear it. But-"
Blaine came closer before cutting Kurt off with a soft kiss. "I love it." He said seriously. He slipped it on his finger then wrapped his arms around Kurt's waist. "I am going to miss you. So much." He looked into Kurt's eyes, his own starting to water.
"I'm going to miss you, too, Blaine. So, so much." It was like he could feel Blaine's heart hurting. His heart hurt, too. He rested his forehead against Blaine's. "I love you." He whispered, his voice breaking because of the tears he was trying to hold back.
"I love you, more than anything in the world." Blaine kissed Kurt's lips desperately as tears trickled down his cheeks.
"Maybe I shouldn't go." Kurt said.
Blaine automatically shook his head. "No. Don't. Don't do that. I'm not holding you back. We'll be fine. I'm just upset."
"I know. Me too."
Blaine took Kurt's hands from behind his neck, lacing their fingers together. Their foreheads still against each other. They stood there like that for a quite a few moments, silent, swaying slightly. Blaine would kiss Kurt lightly every other moment. The longer they stood there, the sadder they got. It was taking all of Blaine's energy not to breakdown in violent sobs. Kurt, too.
"Kurt?" Blaine's voice was shaky. "Can I ask you something? For a favor?"
"Of course." Kurt whispered.
"Will-will you stay with me, tonight? I-I just-I need you." He was almost whining.
"Oh Blaine." Kurt wrapped his arms tightly around Blaine. "Yes." He chuckled slightly. "I was actually going to ask if I could. I need you, too."
They shared a longing kiss before Blaine took Kurt's hand again. "Come on." He pulled Kurt into his bedroom where they cuddled, for a majority of the night. Sure they did more than that, they made love of course. It was sweet, and slow. They savored every inch of each other, every moment with each other. They wrapped themselves around each other and stayed there all night. Neither of them falling asleep. They didn't want to lose one second. Because morning would come fast, and Kurt would have to go.
