They'd watched Dear John together. They'd assured themselves that they would be okay while Blaine was gone. They'd promised each other that a year wouldn't be that long. That they'd spent enough time apart while Kurt was away for studies, and that they could make it a year.
A year didn't seem that long until they were standing in the front of the small New York airport.
Blaine stood, grey army t-shirt tucked into his dark green issued camoflauged pants. Kurt stood across from him, hands already shaking.
"Do you really have to go?"
Blaine only nodded, trying his best to smile. The sides of his eyes crinkled, only causing the tears that were already there to come closer to falling. "You can walk to the gate with me if you want." He offered, trying his best to keep his voice from wavering. Kurt nodded silently.
They walked hand-in-hand to gate B6. They both sat in the plastic chairs, hands clasped together. Some news program playing on the television infront of them. Niether of them saying anything because they both worried it would lead to them breaking down.
They shared one last kiss and one last 'I love you' before Blaine walked towards the door to take him to the plane.
"When I get back, I'm gonna marry you." Blaine's voice cracked. "I love you."
Kurt nodded silently, watching as Blaine walked down the corridor to get on the plane.

The first letter Kurt recieved was Blaine promising him he was fine. Telling him that everything was going good, as good as it could be, and that he couldn't wait to come home. Still promising he would marry Kurt.
Kurt wouldn't break down. He wouldn't let himself.

The second letter Kurt recieved from Blaine was telling him that he'd had to shoot a person. He told Kurt he's never felt so horrible in his life. He told him he was counting the days until he got to come home. And he promised he was going to marry him.

The third letter Kurt recieved was Blaine telling him that he was told he was going to have to stay for another two months. But he told him he'd be back on the first flight he could get back the day they told him he could come home. And he promised he was going to marry Kurt.

The fourth letter Kurt recieved from Blaine, came after four months of no communication. He'd worried about the worst. But the letter reassured him that everything was fine. He just wasn't able to send to him. He said the first two months when they couldn't speak were crazy. They'd had to move living areas because of concerns over bombings. Kurt thought he felt his heart stop when he read it. Blaine wrote that he missed Kurt more than anything else in the world and that it was only a a hundred and fifty three more days until he could come home. He ended the letter by promising that he was still going to marry Kurt.

The first phone call Kurt recieved was from a doctor. Telling him that there had been an accident. Something in Blaine's unit's Jeep had been in the wrong place and the Jeep flipped during one of their times out on the field. Blaine had been trappd underneath it for hours before a rescue crew came. He came out with a few bad scratches and both of his wrists broken. They'd decided that the damage done was beyound the repair they could give him. They'd called to tell Kurt that they were sending him home. Kurt had never been more greatful for a nast car accident.

Kurt stood in the same airport where he'd dropped Blaine off almost nine months ago to the date. The flight from Blaine's lay-over in Florida was due in at five-thirty that morning. Kurt hadn't even taken the time to put in contacts before leaving the apartment to get Blaine. So here he was, standing in the middle of the nearly empty terminal, clad in his thick rimmed glasses, sweat pants and Blaine's NYADA hoodie.
He watched the first few people come in from the exit of the plane. A few families passes by, carrying their multiple carry on bags and sleeping kids. A couple that looked like they were coming from their honeymoon strolled past sleepily, holding hands.
The split second where he wasn't seeing Blaine walk from the plane he felt like his heart had stopped. Like this had all been a dream, like Blaine wasn't coming home at all. He closed his eyes to stop the tears he felt from coming.
He opened them to see a pair of Hazel one's staring at him from a distance. Black curls bounced as Blaine ran towards Kurt. He could see both of his wrists wrapped, and he had some what of a limp as he took off. He reached Kurt and practically collapsed into his arms.
The both stood holding each other for what felt like hours. Only I I love you's and I missed you so much's coming from them. Kurt finally broke Blaine from him long enough to see his face.
There was one poorly stitched cut below his right eye, that Kurt was sure would lead to a scar. But other than that Blaine looked just as he had nine months before.
"God I missed you. I missed you so much. And I was worried every say and mmph-" Kurt's rambling was cut off by Blaine's lips crashing to his. They pulled away and Kurt had tears in his eyes. "I didn't know if I was ever gonna be able to do that again." He leaned into Blaine's chest again, a broken sob coming out of his mouth.
"Babe." Blaine rubbed his hand up and down Kurt's back. Tears spilling from his eyes now. "I'm here now, I'm okay. It's gonna be okay."
Kurt just nodded in Blaine's chest. "Can we go home?"
Blaine chuckled, wiping a tear off of his face. "Of course Baby."

Hours later Blaine and Kurt were lying close together on the bed, both in swear pants and t-shirts, hair still wet from their shared shower, hands clasped together, their noses touching. They both stayed completely silent. Not needing words. Blaine watched as Kurt's eyes fluttered shut, and he waited until small snores were coming from him before he tip toed over to the dresser, pulling out his drawer and reaching in the back. He pulled out a small velvet box and made his way back over to the bed.
He covered himself with the blankets and pulled himself close to Kurt again. He kissed the older boy's nose and waited for him to open his eyes. Grey eyes fluttered open and Kurt smiled slightly at the sight of Blaine's face being what he woke to again.
Blaine pulled the ring box from behind his back and put it towards Kurt's face before opening it. "I promised."
