Burt loved his son more than he could put into words. But as much as he loved Kurt, he never, ever wanted to hear those kind of noises coming out of his bedroom.
Burt flinched as he heard a thump, and a faint “Blaine.” This was absolutely traumatizing.
And another distinct bang reached Burt’s ears. Burt fiddled with his car keys and tried to decide if he should drive out of town or out of state. Kurt’s shrill laughter sounded throughout the house, and Burt really didn’t want to know what that was about.
There was silence for a good five minutes, and Burt relaxed against the couch. Finally.
After a few more moments of blissful silence, footsteps informed Burt that Blaine and Kurt were walking down the stairs. Burt lifted his hat and scratched the top of his head. He was not ready to talk to Kurt after what he had just heard.
“Hey dad,” Kurt’s breathless voice said, and Burt looked up to see Kurt’s flushed face and sparkling eyes. Blaine was standing behind him with a smug look on his face. It was even worse than Burt had originally thought.
“Hey, kiddo,” Burt said shakily. He cleared his throat. “How are you?”
Kurt raised an eyebrow at his father and replied, “Fine. Even though my boyfriend is a jerk.”
Blaine mock-gasped. “I am not!”
“Blaine, you just tickled me for fifteen minutes straight. You knocked over my lamp!”
Blaine shrugged. “You have a cute laugh.”
Burt watched the interaction with wide eyes. So those were the noises..?
“Dad? Are you okay?” Burt snapped out of his thoughts to smile at his son.
“I’m perfect, buddy. How ‘bout we go see what we’re eating tonight? You stayin for dinner, Blaine?”
Blaine nodded. “I’d like that, sir.”
Burt decided he could handle those kinds of noises if they were the result of a tickle fight.
