"What in the world is on your son's head?" Rachel asked Kurt as she walked up to him in his dad's backyard where they were celebrating the Fourth of July.
"What are you talking about?" Kurt asked just as Matthew streaked past them shirtless, an Icy Cool frozen bandana tied around his head. "Oh my god, I have no idea. Where did he even... never mind. I know where he got it, look at my idiot husband."
Rachel laughed loudly as Blaine came running past, following his son and shouting loudly, "Oh my god, I'm so glad he's your husband. I mean, look at him Kurt. He looks like an overgrown child. Running around with a frozen bandana around his head and shouting like a tribal warrior. He's thirty. When is he going to grow up?"
Kurt grumbled under his breath for a moment before laughing, watching with an amused expression as Finn ran from the back door, dressed exactly the same as Blaine and Matthew, "Just as soon as your thirty-one year old man-child does. But I swear if my dad comes running out after them I'm going to need to bleach my mind. I can't handle that."
He looked over at Rachel only to find her gone, chasing after Finn and screaming. Kurt laughed as he watched his stepbrother shuffling his feet in embarrassment as Rachel laid into him. He looked down as he felt something tugging at his shorts, smiling when he saw Matthew standing there, "What's up, bud?" he asked, crouching down next to him with a smile.
"For you, Daddy," Matthew insisted, holding up yet another Icy Cool at him.
"Oh, Matty. I don't know sweetheart, that's more Papa's thing. Daddy doesn't really..." he trailed off when he saw Matt school his face into Blaine's patented puppy dog face, the one he used on Kurt to get what he wanted. He glanced over his shoulder where his son appeared to be looking in deep concentration, catching Blaine making the same face, clearly teaching by example, "Blaine Anderson!" he yelled, reaching down for the bandana and quickly tying it around his head, "Come on Matty, you're on Daddy's team now. We need to get Papa, okay?"
Matt yelled out an aggressive noise and chased after his father as Kurt stripped off his shirt and ran after him, imitating the yell and feeling freer than he had in years. Blaine had been right; adopting Matt was quickly turning into the best decision of his life, right behind marrying Blaine Anderson.
