Blaine watched as everyone congratulated and celebrated Mr. and now Mrs. Schuester. He was happy for them he was, however it was not right.
It was not right that they could get married anywhere anytime. He and Kurt were not afforded that same privilege, the same rights, the same courtesy.
Maybe he was getting upset of those facts, or maybe it was because he stood there, the ring box clasped between his hands, and Kurt was being, well, Kurt. Still insisting they were just friends, and not a couple.
Blaine gave Kurt one last glance, then quietly stole his way to the auditorium. He set the ring box on top of the piano, and sat on the wooden bench. He had always felt at ease when he sat here.
Slowly, methodically, he started at first, just playing his fingers on the ebony and ivory keys that were cool and smooth to the touch. Thinking back over the past several months, he remembered their happy times as well as what he had done to cause him and Kurt to no longer be together.
He smiled at the fond memories and grew sullen at the others. Without realing it, he began playing a melody. Once his mind caught up with what his hands were doing, his voice joined the music drifting from the piano in an almost erie melody.
It still feels like our first night together
Feels like the first kiss
It's getting better baby
No one can better this
Still holding on
You're still the one
First time our eyes met
Same feeling I get
Only feels much stronger
I want to love you longer
Do you still turn the fire on?
So if you're feeling lonely, don't
You're the only one I'll ever want
I only want to make it good
So if I love you, a little more than I should
Please forgive me, I know not what I do
Please forgive me, I can't stop loving you
Don't deny me, this pain I'm going through
Please forgive me, if I need you like I do
Please believe me, every word I say is true
Please forgive me, I can't stop loving you
Still feels like our best times are together
Feels like the first touch
We're still getting closer baby
Can't get closer enough
Still holding on
You're still number one
I remember the smell of your skin
I remember everything
I remember all your moves
I remember you yeah
I remember the nights, you know I still do
So if you're feeling lonely, don't
You're the only one I'll ever want
I only want to make it good
So if I love you a little more than I should
Please forgive me, I know not what I do
Please forgive me, I can't stop loving you
Don't deny me, this pain I'm going through
Please forgive me, if I need you like I do
Please believe me, every word I say is true
Please forgive me, I can't stop loving you
The one thing I'm sure of
Is the way we make love
The one thing I depend on
Is for us to stay strong
With every word and every breath I'm praying
That's why I'm saying,
Please forgive me, I know not what I do
Please forgive me, I can't stop loving you
Don't deny me, this pain I'm going through
Please forgive me, if I need you like I do
Babe believe it, every word I say is true
Please forgive me, if I can't stop loving you
No, believe me, I don't know what I do
Please forgive me, I can't stop loving you
I can't stop, loving you
Blaine finished the tune, the took the ring box from the top of the piano. He opened it, to reveal a platinum band with three flush diamonds in a slant formation, across the center of the band.
Lost in his constructive yet tearful use of the piano, Blaine was unaware, that Kurt had followed him, from the choir room. He stood quietly behind a stage curtain, tears streaming down his cheeks. He was close enough to see what Blaine was holding, but not close enough to see detail.
Kurt made the decision to let Blaine have this moment. He needed one of his own, to compose himself. As he turned to leave his secluded location, he heard the man on stage, snap the box closed. That was not what startled him however, the words that were spoken are what were the loudest sound even though they were said at a range, just above a whisper.
"Kurt, I will always remember that moment I fell in love with you. The look in your eyes, the sound of your voice, the beauty that was you." Blaine paused and took a breath. "I made you promises once. I tried to keep them. One unspoken promise, that is a given between and two people in love is the promise to be faithful. I know I lost your trust when I did what I did." His voice now trembling as he wiped tears from his cheeks. "I hurt you. I will always love you, Kurt. If you were here now, and if I had the courage, I would present this ring to you, and ask you to give me that second chance, which as you said is one of life's greatest gifts. I would ask you to honor me with your hand in marriage. Not now, next week, next month."He closed the ring box, exhaling a shuddering breath. "Maybe not even next year, but when we are ready, to once again be each others forever."
Blaine stood from the piano bench and pocketed the black velvet box, that suddenly felt like a lead weight. "Please forgive me, I can't stop lovoing you." He said, looking out over the auditorium.
He wiped the tears from his face once again, the started walking towards the edge of the stage, ready to join everyone else in celebrating the happy couple. He had made it to the edge when he heard the very familiar voice behind him. Kurt, his Kurt, was there and singing to him.
All I am, all I'll be
Everything in this world, all that I'll ever need
Is in your eyes, shining at me
When you smile I can feel all my passion unfolding
Your hand brushes mine
And a thousand sensations seduce me 'cause I
I do, cherish you
For the rest of my life
You don't have to think twice
I will, love you still, from the depths of my soul
It's beyond my control
I've waited so long to say this to you
If you're asking do I love you this much, I do
In my world before you
I lived outside my emotions
Didn't know where I was going
Until that day I found you
How you opened my life to a new paradise
In a world torn by change
Still with all of my heart, until my dying day
I do, cherish you
For the rest of my life
You don't have to think twice
I will, love you still, from the depths of my soul
It's beyond my control
I've waited so long to say this to you
If you're asking do I love you this much, yes I do
I've waited so long to say this to you
So, if you're asking if I love you this much, I do
Oh, I do
Kurt finished the song, having walked closer to Blaine as he sang. Once he was finished and the silence surrounded them, he looked into the eyes of the man who now stood before him and whispered. "Yes, I will marry you."
