Kurt and Blaine find out about 'The New Normal', a new show to be aired on NBC about two gay men finding a surrogate and having a baby.
Author's Notes: Because I couldn't not. Excuse the terrible un-creative title.
“Hey, Kurt, look at this,” Blaine nudges his laptop across the bed so Kurt can see the screen.
“The New Normal? And what’s that?”
“It’s a new TV show. It looks really good. It’s about a gay couple who want to have a baby.” Blaine smiles involuntarily. Kurt raises his eyebrows and looks back to the screen.
“Hey, there’s a clip here…” he budges up the bed to let Blaine watch, their shoulders brushing and checks the sound’s turned on before pressing play.
‘I’m great at being pregnant…’
They sit there, watching, giggling a little at the couple on the screen until one brings up the issue of a gay couple having a baby and they stiffen slightly.
But they have no reason, for the blonde prospective surrogate allays their fears.
And before they know it, smiles are quirking at the edges of their lips
‘A family is a family, and love is love.’
There’s a few seconds where they just sit there, staring at the screen, it all sinking in.
And then Blaine looks at Kurt and Kurt is looking at him and grins break out on their faces before the laughing starts; great breathy howls shaking them and the bed, holding onto each other for support because that’s the message they’ve always wanted to be told and they just can’t hold it in.
They laugh until they can barely breathe and laugh some more, so loud that Burt comes upstairs to ask them to tone it down a little. And Kurt just points to the computer for him to watch too.
A minute later, Burt throws his arms around the two of them and laughs too.
