"Do those kind of places even exist anymore?"
"Yeah, they're just super swanky."
"Blaine Anderson, I do not want to hear that word come out of your mouth ever again."
Blaine perched himself on the bathroom counter as Kurt finished the final touches on his hair. It was Thursday, their date night, and Blaine had found this great place where they could eat and dance while they waited for their food.
"Okay, fine you won't hear it again. And yes, those kinds of places do exist, and we have a reservation for seven." Blaine pulled his phone out of his pocket to prove to Kurt that not only did said place exist, but it had a website.
A little while later - depending on who you ask. Kurt would say a few minutes, Blaine would say fifteen - Kurt was ready and they were on their way to the restaurant. A little more while later - they would both agree that sitting in traffic for what seemed like hours - the pair found themselves sitting at their table, trying their hardest to get their waiter's attention.
"Did he die or something?" Kurt huffed, giving up.
"He probably is dealing with a problem in the back or something waiter-ish like that.
Shall we dance?" Blaine smiled, batting his eyelashes in a way that he knew Kurt couldn't refuse.
"I was hoping to at least have something to drink first-"
Blaine started to pout, his eyes growing wide with sadness, and Kurt curses the day that he admitted to his boyfriend how he could not say no to those eyes.
"Oh, alright. Only if I get to lead."
"Deal."
A little while later - they had to wait for the current song to stop because they both hated it - they found themselves twirling together on the dance floor, arms holding each other steady as they swayed to the music. Blaine had his cheek rested on Kurt's shoulder as the taller man lead him around the floor to the soft music. Focusing on each other and the music around them allowed their petty every day worries to float away, and Blaine could not remember a time when he was more content.
The couple dancing next to them suddenly stopped in the middle of the song, the man dropping down to one knee and professing his love for his girlfriend. Kurt and Blaine watched on with a grin as the couple got engaged, clapping when she said yes and the couple kissed. A new song started, and Kurt started to lead Blaine around the dance floor again, holding him closer than before.
"I love it when that happens." Blaine said with a happy sigh.
"Who doesn't? It's one of the most romantic things to witness ever." Kurt twirled Blaine, bringing his boyfriend back into his arms.
"What if we got married?" Blaine nestled his cheek more against Kurt's shoulder.
"We've already had this conversation a million times-"
"But what if we got married? Now?"
Kurt's eyebrows raised. "Now?
"Well, not now now. But soon." Blaine pulled his head away from Kurt's chest to look up at Kurt, smiling.
"Blaine, I love you, but if this is the way that you are going to propose to me-"
Blaine couldn't help but laugh, shaking his head and tapping Kurt's chest. "Kurt, you know when I propose, I will be completely over the top. I wouldn't propose to you like this. I was just saying that I want us to get married."
"Okay." Kurt smiled and kissed Blaine's forehead, letting his lips linger for a bit as the song changed and they started dancing slower. "You wouldn't propose now, I know that. You'd need come up with some speech or something beforehand."
"Oh, I've had that speech done for a long time now."
Kurt stopped in his tracks, and Blaine's eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "Is that okay?"
"Okay? Blaine, that's... that's amazing! How long?" Kurt started dancing again, his arms holding Blaine close.
"Since my senior year. I was going to ask you to marry me then, but it wasn't a good time. But I wrote the speech and everything. I practiced it every night. I might even still have it memorized..."
Kurt grinned, his eyes crinkling a bit around the corners in the way that Blaine loved so much. "Really? Since your senior year?"
"Yeah, really." Blaine smiled, and the song changed to faster paced one, yet Kurt and Blaine kept slow dancing.
"Do you, uh, what did it say?"
"If I told you now, I would have to write a whole new proposal speech." Blaine shook his head, chuckling.
"How about I propose to you? So you can tell me your speech thing now." Kurt's curiosity was getting the best of him, and they both knew it.
"You're impatient." Blaine said with a laugh, kissing Kurt's cheek. "I'll hold you to that though, it'll be up to you to propose."
"Yeah I know, I got it. Just tell me the speech now? Please?"
Blaine held himself closer to Kurt as they danced, starting his speech. "Kurt, remember when I got you that promise ring and promised all of those things I would do for you? Well, - this is the part I would get down on one knee and show you the ring - I have more promises to make."
A little while later - after they both teared up during the rest of Blaine's promises and knew that they wanted nothing more than to marry each other - Kurt dipped Blaine as they danced, kissing him with all the love he knew how to convey from a simple press of lips. The music faded away as they broke apart, grinning at each other.
"Well, it looks like our waiter finally showed up. Should we go and order some food?" Blaine asked, nodding towards their table.
Kurt looked towards their table, where the waiter stood with a bored expression on his face. He looked back to his boyfriend, who was staring at Kurt like he was a gift from heaven."We can go back a bit. I'd rather keep dancing with you."
