The analog clock on their mahogany bedside table reads 2:47 AM when Kurt feels the familiar tug of a little girl's hands at his feet.
"What is it, Adela?" Kurt mumbled, still mostly asleep. This wasn't the first time they'd been disturbed from their deep slumber by their six-year-old daughter. Oh no, if they'd counted, it would have to have been around the hundredth time by now. It'd become a routine, almost. They'd wake up, let Adela snuggle in-between the two of them, and fall back asleep almost immediately.
"Can't sleep." She replied lazily, her words slurring together, whether from lack of sleep or young age, Kurt couldn't tell. Snoring quietly, Blaine lay fast asleep on the other side of the bed. Kurt nudged him awake with his elbow.
"Blaine, baby, Adela can't sleep." He cooed softly into his ear. Blaine stirred, groaning quietly and shifting over to allow space for her to join them on the bed. Adela crawled in-between the two of them, plopping her face in a pillow and sighing deeply. Kurt smiled fondly, bringing his hand up to lazily stroke her chestnut colored hair.
Blaine grinned at Kurt over their daughter, giving him a small wink before resting his head back on his own pillow, and wrapping an arm around Adela. "Goodnight darlings." He whispered. Kurt hummed happily in response, wrapping his own arm around Adela, their two arms folding over each other. Adela hummed in response as well, shifting on the pillow before stilling and beginning to snore softly.
Two hours later and Adela is awake again. "Daddies, daddies. Nightmare." She cried, sniffing and rubbing at her eyes as tears trickled down her face. Both Kurt and Blaine awoke at the same time, immediately hugging her between the two of them.
"Shhh, it's okay, honey. We're right here. It was just a bad dream." Kurt told her.
"It wasn't real, try not to think about it." Blaine added, nuzzling his cheek against the top of her head. Adela continued to sniff and make small whining noises. Kurt sighed and took her hand in his, squeezing it gently. Blaine lifted his head as an idea came to him. Kurt and Blaine's eyes met over their daughter. The corners of Blaine's mouth slowly curled into a smile as he started humming. Kurt nodded as he understand the silent thoughts Blaine was try to get across.
"I know a girl. She puts the color inside of my world." Blaine sung. Kurt joined in. "She's just like a maze, where all of the walls all continually change." Adela's sniffing ceased. "And I've done all I can to stand on the steps with my heart in my hand. Now I'm starting to see, maybe it's got nothing to do with me." Adela rested her head back on the pillow, growing silent.
"Fathers be good to your daughters. Daughters will love like you do. Girls become lovers, who turn into mothers. So mothers be good to your daughters too." They harmonized, still gazing into each others eyes. Adela finally fell asleep, her fingers curling around Kurt's index finger. Kurt smiled and kissed her forehead. Blaine smiled as well, leaning over Adela to place a soft kiss to Kurt's nose.
"I love us." He whispered. Kurt chuckled quietly.
"I love you." He grinned, bumping noses with his husband. "Go to sleep." He pushed at Blaine's shoulder playfully. Blaine stole one last kiss, this time at Kurt's lips. They both smiled into it.
"Goodnight." Blaine murmured before leaning his head against the pillow. Kurt bit his lower lip at the sight of his daughter and husband curled up together. His smile widened.
"Goodnight…" He whispered before slowly drifting off into a wonderful dream, the love radiating off of his two loved ones warming his heart.
