I'll Be Your Best Friend and You'll Be Mine, Valentine
Blaine and Kurt go on a picnic and end up on a pair of swings. (The swing stuff was inspired by my favorite scene from the movie 13 Going on 30). Obviously, my writing isn't as well done as the writing for that part of the movie, but.... just roll with it, y'all.

Kurt and Blaine were lying on their stomachs on the blanket that Blaine had laid out on the grass, their shoulders pressed against each other. Blaine had surprised Kurt by showing up at his house unannounced with a picnic basket, and they’d made the trip to a small, secluded hill near a park just outside of Westerville to have dinner together and enjoy the night outside. Blaine had told Kurt that he’d been coming to the park ever since he was a kid. His mom would bring him and they would have picnics together, and he would play on the swing set nearby.
“There’s a swing set?” Kurt asked.
“Yeah, right down there,” Blaine said as he pointed towards a pair of swings at the bottom of the small hill. “Come on!” Blaine suddenly grabbed Kurt’s hand and jumped up, pulling his boyfriend up with him.
“What? Blaine, what are you – ” Kurt started. Before he could finish his sentence, Blaine was dragging him down the hill.
“Come on, I’ll show you! My mom and I always used to do this.” Blaine spoke excitedly as he bounded towards the swings with Kurt in tow.
“Blaine, you’re not seriously gonna make me go on that thing, are you?” Kurt said.
“Of course I am! And you’re not getting out of it,” Blaine smiled.
Kurt rolled his eyes but smiled back. “You’re such a kid.”
Once they reached the swings, Blaine let go of Kurt’s hand and hopped on to one of the seats. “Here!” he said as he patted the swing right next to him.
Kurt let out a small sigh but followed orders and took his place on the swing next to Blaine, then naturally began to slowly sway back and forth.
“My mom and I would always have competitions to see who could jump the farthest,” Blaine said, looking down at his feet as he swayed in time with Kurt.
“What do you mean jump the farthest?” Kurt asked.
“Well, we swing in sync and then on the count of the three, we jump and let go and see how far we land,” Blaine explained.
“Oh, I see…” Kurt replied. “This isn’t gonna hurt, is it? What if I land on my face?” Kurt added nervously.
Blaine laughed. “Not if you do it properly, silly. At least, I’ve never landed on my face.”
“Yeah, well, you’re actually coordinated enough to keep that from happening…” Kurt said.
“You won’t fall on your face, Kurt. This is fun, I promise!” Blaine flashed Kurt another one of his trademark smiles.
Kurt couldn’t help but return the grin. He was powerless under Blaine’s charm, and he could practically see the twinkle in Blaine’s eyes. His boyfriend’s ability to find joy in such simple charms in life was one of the things that he loved most about him.
“Okay, ready?” Blaine looked at Kurt. They started swinging higher and higher until they were going at the same tempo. “One…” Blaine started to count.
Kurt joined in. “Two…”
They then shouted together. “Three!”
The two boys flung themselves off the swings, landing on their feet but then toppling over like a ton of bricks. Blaine had beaten Kurt by a few inches and had fallen over first, with Kurt tripping over and falling on top of him. The two boys landed with a giant “oof” before bursting into laughter.
“See? Your face is fine,” Blaine chuckled.
Kurt was half-lying on top of Blaine, his head moving to nuzzle against Blaine’s neck. “My face may be fine but my ass sure isn’t,” Kurt snorted. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah, yeah. I’m fine. Are you?” Blaine lifted his head to look at Kurt but then let it drop back down on the grass, his chest still bubbling with laughter.
Kurt giggled and nodded his head. “Well you broke my fall, so yeah, I’m great.”
Blaine let out one last breathy laugh and then sat up, causing Kurt to slide off of him and roll onto his back. He was now kneeling over Kurt, his arm still pinned under Kurt’s head. He looked down at his boyfriend, his own warm hazel eyes meeting Kurt’s pale blue ones.
Kurt turned his head and placed a soft kiss on Blaine’s forearm before looking up at him and smiling warmly. They locked eyes again and stared in silence for a moment before Blaine chuckled softly and looked away shyly, both boys’ cheeks now flushed. Blaine then leaned down and softly kissed Kurt on the mouth. It was slow and sweet and he let his lips linger on Kurt’s, immediately feeling his entire body tingle in response. When he pulled away, he noticed the way Kurt was smiling both with his mouth and with his eyes. He then sat up and turned around until he was facing the swing set, his body still close to Kurt’s.
Kurt was still lying on his back, but he then followed suit and pushed himself up so that he was sitting right next to Blaine, facing the same direction. Kurt stole a quick glance at Blaine. He noticed a leaf in his hair and giggled.
The sound caught Blaine’s attention and brought him back. “What?”
Kurt didn’t say anything but simply reached up and picked the leaf out of Blaine’s hair and showed it to him before tossing it to the side.
“Oh. Thanks,” Blaine chuckled before looking back towards the sky where the sun was now setting.
Kurt kept his eyes locked on the other boy. He noticed the way the corners of Blaine’s brows crinkled when he squinted at something in the distance and the way his smile reached all the way up to his eyes. He noticed how small and cute Blaine’s ears were and wondered to himself how he’d never noticed them sooner. He also noticed the way Blaine kept his focus ahead but still allowed his attention to drift back to Kurt, and the way he was somehow acutely aware of Kurt’s eyes on him without even having to turn to look back at him. He scooted closer and then leaned his head down on Blaine’s shoulder, letting out a small, content sigh.
Blaine tilted his chin down to press a soft kiss to Kurt’s forehead.
There was another moment of silence before Kurt spoke first. “I love you,” he whispered. His voice was soft and muffled but Blaine still heard him clearly.
“I love you too,” Blaine whispered back.
“Thanks for bringing me here,” Kurt said. He felt Blaine smile into his hair.
“You’re welcome,” Blaine replied, his voice still soft.
Kurt smiled to himself as Blaine took his hand in his and laced their fingers together before resting their joined hands on his knee. The two stayed sitting there and soaked in the view and the cool breeze passing along and the whole peaceful atmosphere as the sun eventually disappeared across the horizon.
