It was a lost cause.

If Kurt thought coming to pumpkin patch with Blaine was a feat, he had been completely wrong.

"Nathaniel, stay close to Dada, please. Charlotte, don't pick that up! You're gonna hurt yourself! Blaine, Blaine please help me out here?"

Nathaniel, their eleven month old, was dawdling along beside Kurt, his chubby hand enclosed in Kurt's. It was Nathaniel's first Halloween.

Charlotte, their five and a half year old, was running ahead with her Papa, picking up and examining pumpkins just like her Daddies did when they took her to the pumpkin patch the previous years.

Kurt sighed inwardly, it was complete chaos, not like he'd expected anything different from the Hummel-Anderson clan.

Charlotte skipped over to her little brother, taking his hand and guiding him towards a tiny pumpkin. Kurt watched fondly as his little girl bent down to speak to her brother.

"See, Nathy, that's a pumpkin! Me, Daddy and Papa buy one for each of us every year! You're gonna get one, too, but it'll be smaller because you're still little!" Charlotte chatted to the younger boy.

Kurt smiled at his two little pieces of heaven, but was scared out of his happiness by a strong pair of arms grabbing him around his middle and jolting him backwards.

"Boo!" Blaine whispered into Kurt's ear. Kurt let out a shrill yelp.

Turning around, Kurt began slapping Blaine on the arm repeatedly. "Don't do that! You scared me half to death!" Kurt scowled, crossing his arms in aggravation.

Though the day wasn't going as he planned, Kurt could admit that he was having a good time.

"Oh come on, babe, I was just joking," Blaine smiled, wrapping his arms around his husband's waist lovingly. "Besides, it looks like there's some other little monsters who want to scare you." Blaine nodded behind Kurt.

Kurt turned just in time to hear Charlotte's shout of "Boo!" and Nathaniel's adorable gurgle of "Booooo!" Kurt faked scared and instantly clung to Blaine.

"Papa help me! There's some scary monsters out to get me!" Kurt spoke dramatically.

"Oh, no! And they're coming closer!" Blaine said as Charlotte and Nathaniel slowly approached, teeth bared and growling ferociously, their best 'scary faces'.

"I think there's only one way to defeat them!" Kurt declared.

"I think you're right, Daddy. The only way to destroy them is...tickling!" And in a flash, the tables had turned and both Kurt and Blaine were tickling their children mercilessly. The two children flailed and giggled as their Daddie's got their most ticklish spots.

"Stop! Stop! Daddy, Papa! It's me, Charlotte and Nathy!" Charlotte gasped between giggles.

"By George! I think you're right!" Blaine exclaimed, ceasing his tickling of Charlotte and hoisting her into his arms.

"Are we ready to pick our pumpkins?" Kurt asked, swinging Nathaniel up onto his hip.

There was a chorus of "Yeah's" from his family as they each began pointing at the pumpkins of their choice.

When they had finally wheeled the pumpkins out of the patch, paid, and loaded everyone and everything into the car, they finally set on the hour-long drive home.

Ten minutes into the drive, both Nathaniel and Charlotte were out cold, snoozing soundly in their car seats.

Kurt and Blaine smiled at each other, linking hands over the consol.

Mission accomplished.
