Author's Notes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F6ImxY6hnfA&ob=av2eThis is the song that Kurt sings to Blaine Also I didn't proof read this, I didn't even re read it so if you could tell me if I made any mistakes that would be greatly appreciated!
“No, Blaine. You’re singing it flat. Don’t you even love me?” Rachel said, her voice sounding absolutely devastated. Blaine shot up straight, his eyes flew open wide, and he grasped Rachel’s hands between his own.
“Of course!” He said quickly “Of course I love you. You’re my girlfriend of course I love you.”
“Why is your singing flat during our duet then? It doesn’t sound like you’re singing to someone you love.” Rachel said, snatching her hands from Blaine’s warm grasp and crossing her arms tightly across her chest.
“Rachel, no it’s not like that. We’ll run it again and it’ll be perfect.” Blaine said hopefully. He looked at Rachel with big puppy dog eyes and she couldn’t help but smile.
“Okay, but your voice better tell me how much you love me.” She said before planting a kiss on his lips and signaling to the pianist to start playing.
The all too familiar ‘My Heart Will Go On’ started to play and Blaine wanted to slump over and die. They’d been at this for hours and Rachel kept picking apart everything he did. He was starting to feel like he was with his brother. He really did love Rachel thought. Hell, he had transferred schools to spend her senior year with her. The only problem was that she was so intense. It was only his second day here and she was drilling this song into his head for his first Glee club performance tomorrow. When Rachel was finally happy with his deliverance of the song she let him go with a goodbye kiss and he drove two hours home, exhausted from his first day at a new school.
The next day was a little bit better. He knew who to sit next to in classes and who to avoid in the hallway. He knew to bring his own lunch in order to evade the less than appetizing cafeteria food and he knew he should stay out of the gym 6th period because there was usually a post-lunch dodge ball game happening. Still, by the end of the day he was more than glad that after Glee Club he could retreat home.
Some of the faces in the room were unfamiliar like the jock with blond hair and a cheerleader who was twirling around in circles with a girl who had sat with him at lunch named Brittany. Blaine took a seat next to Rachel and was glared at by Finn, Rachel’s ex-boyfriend, who he’d only ever seen in pictures. Blaine gulped, the mere size of Finn made him feel two feet tall. The teacher walked in, Mr. Shue, as Blaine had been told by Rachel. He was about to speak when Rachel flung her arm in the air.
“Mr. Shue, this is Blaine, my boyfriend,” Rachel said and a mutual groan was heard around the room from nearly all of the new directions members along with a chuckle from the corner of the room. Blaine turned to meet the most beautiful blue eyes he’d ever seen on the boy who had laughed at Rachel. “We’ve prepared a number for today if you don’t mind.” Before Mr. Shue could respond Rachel was out of her seat and tugging Blaine from his chair and to the front of the classroom.
Kurt stared back at Blaine who seemed to be completely lost as he gazed into Kurt’s eyes. Neither of them could look away, until of course, Rachel pulled him up to the front of the room, a bright blush on his face. Kurt looked away too, starting down at his feet, fighting the blush on his face. What was that all about? Kurt thought, chancing a glance at the new kid again He’s looking right at me!
And he was. Blaine stared at Kurt through most of the first verse until he snapped out of it and remembered who he was supposed to be singing the ballad to, his girlfriend. His blush stayed high on his cheeks as Rachel poured her heart out to him and he tried to do the same for her. But his head kept returning to thoughts of those beautiful blue eyes.
That night Blaine tried his best to forget how his heart beat fast whenever he thought of Kurt. Those beautiful blue eyes and that perfect brown hair was almost forgotten when Blaine walked in the doors of Mckinnley the next morning. Well, almost, until he saw Kurt standing at his locker in the tightest jeans Blaine had ever seen. Did he paint those on this morning? Blaine thought, forcing himself not to stare. While Blaine was busy forcing himself not to stare at Kurt Hummel’s perfect ass he forgot the most important rule of the hallways. Steer clear of Slushies.
He had walked into a wall of ice. He had been bitch slapped by an iceberg. He had an insult yelled but he was too shocked to hear it. He had a warm hand on his back, another on his shoulder, leading him somewhere, but it stung his eyes to much to open them and didn’t know where he was going or who was leading him there.
Warm hands shucked the slush from his face and a damp paper towel was wiped over his burning eyes. Then he realized that a voice was talking to him. “-jerks. It gets better though. The first time is definitely the worst. Trust me.” Pieces of colored ice were being plucked from his curly hair, his gel having been washed away with the corn syrup filled concoction, when he recognized the voice. Kurt Hummel. He forced his eyes open, although still burning from the slushie to the face. He just stared at Kurt while Kurt tried to rid Blaine of the freezing beverage.
“Thank you.” Blaine said when Kurt finally made eye contact. Kurt’s hand’s froze for a second in Blaine’s curls before he smiled sweetly, about the say ‘you’re welcome’ when Blaine’s hands grabbed onto his, bringing them to rest over Blaine’s chest. “That was really nice of you.”
Kurt opened his mouth to speak but he didn’t have anything to say. They stared at each other again. Just looking into each others’ eyes. Then as if Blaine realized what he was doing he dropped Kurt’s hands quickly, running his fingers through his wild and sticky hair. “Well I should go now! Bye!” Blaine said quickly before dashing out of the boy’s bathroom and to his class.
Kurt smirked before saying “Goodbye Blaine” under his breath and leaving for his own class.

Rachel had invited Blaine to go bowling with the New Directions before but this time was different. This time he was one of the New Directions. This time he felt obligated to go. This time he kind of wanted to go. Okay, he really wanted to go. And it wasn’t even because Kurt was going to be there. . . Okay, maybe it was a little because Kurt was going to be there. It was the first Friday in a long time that he had plans with anyone besides Rachel. He got ready excitedly, finding the perfect outfit and gelling down his curls. Halfway through brushing his teeth though he remembered a very crucial part of his life. Rachel was his girlfriend, who he loved, no, who he was in love with. They had been dating nearly half a year and he was completely in love with her. Blaine wasn’t a fool. He knew he wasn’t in love with Rachel. He knew when he told his parents he was gay and they said it was ‘just a phase’ that they were wrong. But he did what he always did. He hid. He said they were right after he was bullied out of one school and he never came out when he was at Dalton. He thought Rachel would solve everything, a pretty girl who could change his mind. And for a while she did change things, at least she seemed too. But Kurt changed them back with barely a glance. At the thought of Kurt, Blaine smiled, and he knew just from that that Kurt would be trouble for him.
Kurt was dragged out of the house by Finn who had begged him all week to go out bowling with everyone. He rolled his eyes and crossed his arms and pretended to be mad while Finn drove to the bowling alley, stopping to pick up Quinn and Mercedes on the way. He refused to put on bowling shoes even though he knew he wouldn’t be able to play without them and he cringed when Puck made him hold one of the dirty bowling balls. He had only come because Rachel said she and Blaine were going. And against Kurt’s better judgment, Kurt was falling for the shy, curly haired boy, from Glee Club.
When Rachel and Blaine finally got there, walking hand in hand over to the new directions, Blaine also refused to play. Rachel got a pair of shoes and made Blaine lace them up for her before she went to find the lightest, pinkest, bowling ball she could find. Blaine slouched down next to Kurt, who still held the bowling ball like it had some kind of disease.
“You any good?” Blaine asked, nodding to the ball. He had a small smile on his face that made Kurt’s heart skip a beat.
“No, and I won’t be showing that off tonight.” Kurt said, lifting one booted foot to show Blaine his lack of bowling shoes.
“Me either. I’m a terrible bowler.” Blaine laughed. The sound made Kurt swoon and nearly drop the ball. He caught himself, of course, before anything embarrassing could happen. They spent the whole night talking, inadvertently keeping to themselves. They ended up wandering to the empty mini-golf course while everyone was in the middle of their bowling game.
“So,” Kurt began “Do you mind if I ask you a personal question?” he asked while lightly hitting a blue golf ball toward the hole in the floor.
“Go right ahead.” Blaine said with a smile as he took the position on the turf to hit his own golf ball, a red one.
“Why are you leading Rachel on?” Kurt asked “You are gay aren’t you?” At the question Blaine swung his gold club hard, sending the golf ball flying up and hitting against the miniature windmill and flying back at the two of them. Kurt moved just in time so that it wouldn’t hit him in the face, it went flying by his head as he stared with wide eyes.
“Oh my god! Kurt, I am so sorry!” Blaine said, dropping his club and quickly moving to over to Kurt. “Are you okay?” Blaine was panicking as he took Kurt’s face between his hands.
“Yes,” Kurt said with a laugh, resting his hands over Blaine’s, “I’m fine.”
Out of the corner of his eyes Blaine saw the door to the indoor golf course opening. He moved Blaine’s hands away from his face and let them drop as Rachel came galloping into the room towards them.
“We should hang out sometime, alone.” Kurt said before turning and leaving Blaine alone with Rachel who leapt into his arms. Kurt slouched against the door when he was finally back in the main room of the bowling alley. He thought about his previous statement to Blaine and blushed so brightly he was sure that he looked like a lighthouse beacon. We should hang out sometime alone????? Kurt screamed in his head. He’d never been that forward before. Not with anyone, not like this at least. He was happy that Finn, Quinn, and Mercedes were ready to leave because he needed to lock himself away in his room for a million years to rid himself of the embarrassment of his foreward-ness. He wasn’t even sure that Blaine liked him!
Once Kurt was locked away in his room, face down in his pillows listening to Lady Gaga as loud as his stereo would go, his phone went off. He glanced at it to see a text. From Blaine. Oh god. He probably texted me to say that he really is straight that I made it all up in my head because I have a crush on him. He probably thinks I’m a freak. His heart couldn’t take it anymore, beating a million times a minute and he opened the message.
From: Blaine
Is Tomorrow okay? You know, to hang out.
Kurt was delighted he quickly shot back an answer. A confirmation that it was okay.
From: Blaine
Cool. Your place?
Again Kurt shot back a confirmation. As he sent it he realized that with all of his forewardness hanging out probably wasn’t just hanging out for Blaine. Kurt was nervous. “I just invited him over to hook up didn’t I?” Kurt groaned into his pillow as he flopped down face first onto his bed again.
The next day wouldn’t come fast enough for Blaine. He didn’t tell Rachel. He wasn’t sure why, but when she asked what he was doing he said he was going with his mom to run errands. He did feel bad lying to her but he thought it was for the best. It probably would save a lot of trouble for Kurt too. At noon he arrived at Kurt’s house, bounded up to the door, and rang the door bell.
Kurt ran down the stairs to the door, fixing his hair quickly in the hall mirror, before opening the door, his stomach was in knots. “Hi.” Kurt said, eyeing Blaine’s backpack, slung haphazardly over his shoulder and his messy hair falling over his forehead.
“Hi.” Blaine said. There was a short silence that wasn’t exactly awkward but wasn’t exactly comfortable before Blaine spoke again “I brought some movies.” He said, pointing to his backpack. “I wasn’t really sure what you wanted to do today, but I figured you can’t go wrong with movies and pizza or something. Unless you have something planned. Do you have something planned?” Blaine babbled, barely taking a breath to talk. And like that Kurt wasn’t nervous anymore. Blaine didn’t expect anything from Kurt and Kurt didn’t have to worry about saying no. He smiled and invited Blaine inside.
It was the best date that Blaine had ever been on and it wasn’t even a real date. Blaine drove home with a giant smile on his face. When he finally arrived home at nearly 11pm he collapsed into his bed feeling love sick and happier than ever before.
Yes, Kurt Hummel would be trouble for him. But maybe he needed a little trouble in his life.

“Blaine.” It was the Wednesday after Kurt and Blaine had hung out and Blaine was still in that dazed state of love. It was Tina who was waking him from his day dream. “Blaine, what’s going on with you?” She said with a smile “You’re acting all loopy.”
“I’m in love, Tina.” Blaine sighed happily and Tina laughed
“I’ll let Rachel know you were thinking about her. But maybe you should pay attention to the lab we’re doing.” She said while pouring a strange liquid into a test tube.
“O-Oh. Right.” Blaine said, finally snapping out of his dreamy daze. Rachel. He had forgotten all about her. He wasn’t even really sure if he had talked to her at all since they went bowling.
He had talked to her. Of course he had. Kurt had heard all about it. Rachel gushed to Kurt how much she was in love with Blaine and how much Blaine was in love with her. He wanted to tell her she was wrong. But he didn’t. He let it go. It wasn’t his place to say anything. He had to wait until Blaine was ready. Although from what Blaine had told him on Saturday it seem like he was ready.
In Glee Club Kurt leaned over to Blaine while Rachel was belting out an overplayed song that had practically played on repeat on the radio. “Want to hang out tonight?” He whispered into Blaine’s ear. Blaine nodded, a new dopey smile on his face that Rachel thought was for her and Kurt knew was for him.
They hung out like that for a long time. Two months had gone by and they had been meeting behind Rachel’s back three days a week just to hang out. They were getting closer and closer and Kurt’s crush was getting closer and closer to love. One Saturday night when they were listening to the radio and reading Vogue on Kurt’s bed, Kurt couldn’t stand it anymore.
“Can I tell you something?” Kurt asked, sitting up and pushing the stack of magazines aside. Blaine sat up, nodding and crossing his legs as he faced Kurt and threw his own magazine at the discarded stack.
“Of course, Kurt. You can tell me anything.” Blaine said
“I really like you. Not just as a friend. As more than a friend.” Kurt blurted, his face burning in embarrassment. Somewhere in his confession his eyes had fallen to his hands and he couldn’t find it in himself to look up at Blaine, but Blaine’s hand slid along Kurt’s jaw, lifting his face into a gentle kiss. Kurt’s eyes opened wide in shock before falling closed as he kissed Blaine back with all of his might. When they pulled away they both whispered a small wow.
“That was the best kiss I’ve ever had.” Blaine babbled “Feel my heart!” He said reaching for Kurt’s hand and pressing it tight against his chest. Kurt did the same, unable to speak, just letting Blaine feel the pounding in his chest as he leaned in for another kiss.
From then on, when they hung out, they always ended up kissing on Kurt’s bed.
Kurt was less than pleased when Blaine didn’t break up with Rachel immediately. But he understood, or he tried to at least. Rachel was Blaine’s ideal life, or rather, his parent’s ideal life. It was scary for Blaine. Kurt understood what it meant to be scared but he wanted things to move along. So he prepared a number for Glee Club.
When everyone filed into the auditorium that Thursday, Kurt was already on stage. All of the stage lights were out and the members of new directions could only see Kurt’s silhouette from the dimmed auditorium. They took their seats and the lights went out completely. The music started and so did the strobe lights.
Call your girlfriend
It's time you had the talk
Give your reasons
Say it's not her fault
But you just found somebody new

Tell her not to get upset, second-guessing everything you said and done
And then when she gets upset tell her how you never mean to hurt no one
Then you tell her that the only way her heart will mend is when she learns to love again
And it won't make sense right now but you're still her friend
And then you let her down easy
Kurt sang the song with perfection, dancing around with Brittany and Santana as the light’s scattered the thoughts of the audience in a glorious way. The only one who thought anything of his song choice was Blaine. Blaine who felt a little sick to his stomach. Sick because he had hurt Kurt by keeping him a secret and sick because he would hurt Rachel when he told her the truth.

Don't you tell her how I give you something that you never even knew you missed
Don't you even try and explain how it's so different when we kiss
You tell her that the only way her heart will mend is when she learns to love again
And it won't make sense right now but you're still her friend
And then you let her down easy
Kurt’s eyes met Blaine’s, only long enough to convey that Kurt understood that Blaine hadn’t meant to hurt anyone. Blaine wasn’t sure how Kurt did it, but Kurt knew exactly what Blaine was thinking. He thought for sure that meant they were soul mates.
When the song ended Kurt looked to Blaine again, this time only long enough for Blaine to give a small nod. Kurt stood on the stage, panting from dancing and singing, waiting for feedback on the performance, as if he really had done it just to perform.
That night after school Blaine asked Rachel if he could come over for a little while. When Blaine arrived he knocked on the door slowly, dreading Rachel’s reaction to his news. Rachel was wearing a long silk robe when she answered the door. Her hair was done up nicely and her makeup was impeccable. Oh no Blaine thought I have to tell her before she embarrasses herself.
“My Dads aren’t home.” Rachel said, taking Blaine’s hand and leading him inside.
“Uh, Rachel, I have something to tell you.” Blaine said quickly, halting before she could pull him up the stairs to her bedroom.
“That’s good, because I have something to tell you too.” She said sweetly, drawing patterns on Blaine’s hands.
“I think it’s best if I go first.” Blaine said with a nervous smile “Maybe you should sit down.” He said, and they both sat on the third step of her stairs. “First of all you have to know that I really love you.” Blaine said, tightening his hand over hers as she looked at him with confusion. “But I’m not in love with you. I’m in love with someone else.”
“What?” She nearly yelled, her voice shrill. “No. No you are not.” She demanded, as if she could tell him what his heart wanted.
“Yes, Rachel. I’m sorry. But it’s true.” He said slowly
“Who?” Rachel asked, her anger quickly subsiding into sadness. “Someone from Glee Club?” She asked, a single tear running down her face when Blaine nodded. “Quinn?” She questioned and Blaine shook his head “Well then who?” She asked through a big wave of tears.
“It’s Kurt. I’m in love with Kurt.” Blaine said, wiping a trail of tears from Rachel’s cheek. “I’m sorry, I should have told you sooner.” Blaine whispered.

Out of respect for Rachel’s feelings Kurt and Blaine didn’t walk hand in hand down the hallways, they held off on moving their things into each others’ lockers, and they didn’t kiss goodbye after Glee Club. But they carried the thoughts around with them all day, glancing at each other and sharing knowing smiles. They could do those things if they really wanted to, because that’s what boyfriends do.
End Notes: I hope you liked it! Please tell me if you did. lol
