Their dates start off slowly. The two had been friends for the longest of times, and Kurt didn't want to ruin any type of relationship they already had. Even after seven years of being apart - not really knowing where the other was, they were still close. It's like they fell back into place after meeting again in the random bar late one night.
Blaine was the usual player he had been since high school; when they started growing apart. Kurt was ever the romantic. Two totally different people in one brand new relationship.
It's clear by the end of the first date that Blaine doesn't want to take it slow - moving up the stairs in front of Kurt's building at a quick pace. Kurt however pulls his hand back down to the first step and gives him a light kiss on the cheek then starts walking inside, leaving a dumbfounded Blaine.
After the second date, which consisted of bowling in which Kurt thoroughly embarrassed himself, they slowly walked back to Kurt's place, hands brushing. Blaine is listening as Kurt absent mindedly talks about a new shoot he is doing for the magazine, but thinking to himself about where tonight might lead. They had been together for only over a couple weeks but he already wanted so much.
They make it back to the stairs in front of Kurt's building and Blaine starts climbing them. However after only being on the second step he's stopped by Kurt turning around and smiling at him. He gets a very light peck on the lips this time, but yet again he's going home alone while Kurt goes inside.
The dates continue like this. They do very different things each time, going to a movie, seeing a concert live, eating at a new restaurant neither had ever tried, and sometimes just being together in a small coffee lounge. After the date however is always the same. Blaine makes it to a certain step and then is stopped by Kurt. He accepts whatever he gets from the beautiful man in front of him and then happily makes his way home each time. After ten plus dates the stairs become such a routine Blaine feels like he isn't really missing anything from the relationship.
They still make-out. But none of the sexual things are there yet. And Blaine seems to be okay with it because in place is the talking and actual feelings that come with a normal relationship. He can't get enough of whatever Kurt has to say and he loves seeing the emotions that run through Kurt's eyes as Blaine talks to him about nothing yet everything.
For tonight's date they just did something simple. Dinner at an open café, where they sat and chatted outside while eating. It's a warm summer night and they hadn't been able to see each other all week so Blaine is just enjoying the time together. They have been together for a little over a month, and really it's the best month of Blaine's life. He's never liked someone like this.
He's telling Kurt a story about how his boss had a mild panic attack in the office and flipped a desk over when they make it to Kurt's apartment. Kurt's giggling as they walk up the stairs hand in hand. Blaine doesn't notice that he's finally made it to the top of the stairs, he's too preoccupied by Kurt's laugh.
They kiss, deeply for a few seconds before Blaine is pulling away and saying a quiet 'goodnight' and walking down the steps when a hand stops him. Kurt is pulling him back and Blaine can only think of one thing. He watches as a shy smile graces Kurt's pink lips and as he unlocks the door, motioning Blaine forward. He stands and stares for only a few seconds before walking in.
Later that night when Blaine has his arm securely wrapped around Kurt's bare waist he smiles. Like a complete idiot none the less, but he doesn't care. He realizes that all those pointless hook-ups and one night stands mean nothing to him now. Waiting with Kurt was a fantastic choice. Even if it was his idea at first it grew on him. By waiting the connection they had while making love, not fucking, it would never be just fucking for him again, was deeper then Blaine had ever experienced.
He wanted this for the rest of his life. Blaine never wanted anyone else but Kurt. Maybe it was too soon in the relationship to be thinking all these things, but he means them with all his heart.
Tomorrow when he wakes up with Kurt in his arms, he's gonna say "I love you" because he does, and those three simple words lead to so many more wonderful things. All things he wants to share with Kurt.
