"It's gonna suck," Blaine says, tracing patterns on Kurt's naked chest with one finger.
"I know. I'm gonna miss you too," Kurt sighs. He really can't imagine what it's going to be like, going through life without Blaine.
He's always looked forward to this. To finally leaving this hellhole of a town behind and go to New York. Start a new life there, going to NYADA. He even likes the idea of sharing an apartment with Rachel. But that was before he met Blaine. Back then, his father was the only one he would have to leave behind, but he has Carole to look after him. Burt Hummel will be okay.
Things are different now, though. Finding Blaine has changed everything.
The most important reason for Kurt to go to New York has always been to escape the loneliness living in Lima forced him into. Surely, in New York he will be able to meet a nice guy, fall in love with him and walk the streets holding his hand without having to worry about what the people around him will think. In New York, Kurt will be allowed to be happy. He just has to hold on and wait until he gets there. He wasn't supposed to meet someone before that.
But he did. He found Blaine. So now he has someone who can hold his hand when they are walking the hallways of McKinley. He has someone to slow dance with at prom. And all of that is wonderful. Kurt's grateful for it, he really is. He never expected to find Blaine, to find love and happiness, in this place filled with so much hatred and ignorance. So yes, it is wonderful, but it isn't perfect. Because Blaine is a junior.
"Hey, are you okay? What are you thinking about that makes you frown like that?"
Kurt looks down to find Blaine's honey-coloured eyes full of worry. He really can't handle seeing that look on his face, especially when he knows he's the cause of it. Blaine has had enough to deal with, Kurt doesn't want to add his own fear and insecurity to the long list of things Blaine Anderson needs to worry about.
"Just thinking about how lucky I am to have found you."
"Why does that make you frown? Should I be offended?" The worry in Blaine's eyes slowly disappears and is replaced with a small smile that indicates he's joking. Instead of answering with a witty comeback like he usually would, Kurt pulls his boyfriend's face to his in a slow but passionate kiss. More than anything, he'll miss kissing Blaine like this, without hurry, tracing his tongue along Blaine's bottom lip, enjoying the feeling of his boyfriend's naked chest against his.
When they both run out of air, Kurt pulls back and takes a moment to just look at this beautiful boy in his bed, who still has his eyes closed and looks perfectly content to be here, safe in Kurt's arms.
"I love you," Kurt whispers and his heart skips a beat when Blaine opens his eyes and smiles at him, that smile that is only ever meant for Kurt. "I love you too," he says. "I always will. I'll still be here when you come back from New York to visit. I'll still be here, waiting for you and just as much in love with you as I am in this moment."
Kurt is not naive. He knows Blaine can't promise that and Blaine knows it too. Of course he wants to be with Blaine for the rest of his life. He can't imagine ever wanting to break up with him. And maybe they can make this work and maybe they will stay together forever, but no one can predict what will happen once Kurt is in New York and Blaine is still here in Lima. They might get in a fight over Skype and refuse to talk to each other for weeks. Kurt might meet some hot guy, who makes him forget about the boy who's waiting for him at home for just a second. Blaine might fall for a new Glee club member and sing flirty duets with him like he used to do with Kurt. But right now, they're here, holding on to each other and that's enough for Kurt. So when Blaine pulls him down for another kiss, he kisses back, showing him with his body that in this very moment, Blaine is all he needs, showing him that right now, they are both here, together and in love, and that's all that matters.
