It was just going to be another night in their apartment. Blaine just popped in a movie in the DVD when it happened.
"Blaaaaaaaaaaine!" Kurt called in from the kitchen. His voice tainted with distress.
Kurt was already nearing the 9th month. His feet was wet and he knew exactly what it was.
"What happened?" Blaine said as he ran to the kitchen.
"My water just broke." Kurt pointed to the puddle below him. He was holding on to the counter for support. Blaine immediately was on his side, wrapping his arm around his waist. He led him to the couch and ran to their room getting their emergency bag and other things they will need. "this is going to be a long night." he whispered to himself.
He was about to finish packing when Kurt shouted again.
"Blaine! Sometime tonight, please!"
Blaine loved how his husband can still be so sarcastic even in labor. They went straight to the hospital. As soon as Kurt was on a wheelchair, Blaine searched for his phone and called Burt and Carole.
"Yes. We got in just now. Okay, see you soon." Blaine said before he ended the call.
"Your parents are on their way." Blaine said as he brushed off the hair that had fallen on Kurt's face.
"Thank you, baby." Kurt said as Blaine leaned down and kissed him.
"You're going to be fine." Blaine reassured him.
But things weren't fine after that. At least not from Blaine's stand point. After hours of labor, Kurt turned from Blaine's sweet husband into his worst nightmare. Blaine can't wait 'til the baby arrives so his husband can return to his sanity.
"Push, baby. Push!" Blaine encouraged.
"I hate you so much, Blaine Anderson!" Kurt screamed. "I hate you. I hate you. I hate youuuuuu!" Kurt opted for a natural birth. Now he's starting to think that an epidural would've been the better option.
"Don't worry, kid. He doesn't hate you. It's just the pressure talking." Burt said as he patted Blaine in the back.
Kurt was holding on to Blaine's hand like his life depended on it. Blaine could already feel that the baby is near; if his husband's grip was any indication.
"You can do it, honey." Blaine leaned in and kissed his sweaty forehead. He was just about to pull away when another wave of pain hit Kurt. Kurt grabbed on to his curls and tugged on it as he screamed.
"Ahhhh! This is all your fauuuuuuult!" Kurt whined as he tugged more on Blaine's hair.
"Yes, it is baby. I'm an evil evil man." Blaine can only imagine the pain Kurt is experiencing at the moment so he just decided to humor his him. Burt and Carole could only laugh at Blaine's compromise. "I deserved to be punished."
"Just a few more pushes, Kurt." The doctor said. He kept on saying that for the last ten minutes and Kurt was getting annoyed already. He just wants the pain to stop and hold his baby in his arms.
After a few more pushes, screaming and a whole lot of hair tugging, a loud cry filled the the room. There she was. The most beautiful thing that Blaine ever laid eyes on. He just stared at her until his vision became blurry with tears. Her cry was almost melodic to his ears knowing fully that in a few weeks, it would annoy him. He basked in the glory of the moment as he cut the umbilical cord and watched the doctor give Kurt their baby.
"Hi, beautiful." Kurt said as he cradled the crying baby. "Wow, you have a strong set of lungs there."
"Wonder where she got that from." Burt replied. Kurt can only give his dad a judging yet loving stare.
"Hello, baby." Blaine said leaning over to his newborn child. "I'm Daddy."
The baby girl seemed to understand it as she grabbed Blaine's finger with her tiny little hand. Her fingers are attached to his except for one making it look like she was pointing.
"Oh look. She's pointing already. Cooper would just love that." Blaine said Rolling his eyes. "Now you just have to learn how to speak loudly so you can be Uncle Cooper's protege."
"So what are you going to name her?" The doctor asked.
Blaine looked at Kurt. "Liza. Liza Evette Hummel-Anderson."
Those hours of pain under Kurt's mercy was tough. But just one look at Kurt and Liza made it all worth while.
