Author's Notes: This was inspired by the interview where Darren mentions a story about him being an octopus.

“Hold still, Keith.”

Kurt ordered as he struggled to put pajamas on his son. Night time needs more effort dealing with the kid’s energy. The hardest part is getting him to stop wiggling and dancing too much.

“But Papa, I’m an octopus!” Keith explained while he wiggled his arms some more trying to imitate an octopus.

“Can you stop being an octopus for one minute so I could dress you up properly?” Kurt asked raising an eyebrow.

“Daddy was right.” Keith realized, putting his arms to rest.

“Right about what?” Kurt said, finishing up the last few buttons.

“You don’t want me to be an octopus because you’re just jealous that you can’t be one.”

Kurt didn’t know how to respond to that. Blaine has a very colorful view and life and it seems like it’s rubbing off on their son. Kurt decided to play along with it.

“Yes, I’m very jealous. I can’t be an octopus so I just married one. And apparently, I now have an octopus son.” Kurt smiled as he watched Keith wiggle his octopus arms.

“Now get in your bed and wait for Daddy, okay? I’ll go get him.”

Kurt walked down the hall into the masters’ bedroom. Blaine was in their bathroom brushing his teeth.

“Your baby octopus is ready for you now.” Kurt announced, leaning on the doorway.

“Mahwha?” Blaine said toothbrush still in his mouth.

“Your octopus baby. Apparently I can’t be an octopus.”

Blaine grinned. He knew exactly what Kurt was talking about. “He’s only half-octopus though. I’m full octopus and you’re not. That makes him half an octopus.”

Kurt rolled his eyes. If Keith was going to grow up just like Blaine, he needed to brace himself for it.

Blaine walked in Keith’s room; story book in hand.

“Hi, Champ.” Blaine greeted.

“Daddy!” Keith said directing grabby hands to Blaine. Blaine walks over to Keith’s bed and sits beside him. Blaine didn’t notice it while he was standing in the doorway but his son was wearing his Dalton Academy uniform.

“Keith, you can’t wear your uniform to bed.” Blaine laughed eyeing his son’s outfit. His shirt was untucked, buttons placed in wrong holes and his tie loosely hung on his neck.

“But I want to.” Keith frowned. Tomorrow was his first day in Dalton Academy Pre-school and he was really really really excited. He was more excited than the time they went to Disneyland. His Daddy and Papa said that he would have new friends in school. He was looking forward to that most of all.

“You’ll get to wear it plenty of times starting tomorrow. Papa would be sad if you go to school with rumpled clothes.” Blaine pointed out.

“But can I wear it for 5 more minutes? Please?” Keith pleaded giving his daddy puppy dog eyes.

Blaine feels betrayed. His son was using his own signature move against him. Now he knows how Kurt feels when he gives him that look. Who could refuse such a face?

“Okay. But just for a few minutes more, okay? Keith nodded. He got the Cheshire cat grin stuck on his face.

_______

Kurt was reading the latest issue of Vogue when he heard some ruckus going on at the end of the hallway. He looks at the clock and thinks that Keith should be asleep by now, what was taking Blaine so long? He goes straight to their son’s room to check up on them.

He could hear music coming out from Keith’s room. It doesn’t seem like anyone’s sleeping. Kurt opens the door and sees Blaine and Keith holding hairbrushes using them as microphones.

“You and I will be young forever.”

“You!” The two sing together as they both point at Kurt. “Make me, feel like I’m living a teenage dream the way you turn me on.”

“I can’t sleep!” Keith shouted. “Let’s run away and don’t ever look back, don’t ever look back.” Blaine continued.

Kurt lets the two finish the song before saying anything.

“I hate to break your little concert but I think a certain someone needs to be in bed by now.” Kurt crossed his arms looking directly at Keith.

“I’m not yet sleepy, Papa.” Keith frowned.

“How about you? What’s your excuse?” Kurt asked looking at Blaine.

“I’m not yet sleepy either?” Blaine said with uncertainty. He knew he was going to pay for not making their son sleep on time.

“And why are you wearing your uniform? School doesn’t start until tomorrow.”

“He’s excited.” Blaine explained. “I’m kind of jealous though. I miss going to Dalton. Don’t tell me you don’t.”

“Papa went to Dalton, too?” Keith asked fighting the yawn bubbling up in his mouth so his Papa won’t send him to bed just yet.

Kurt didn’t miss his son’s effort. “Yes, I did.”

“Can you tell me about it? Was it fun like Daddy said?”

“Sure. But first, let’s get you out of your uniform and get you into bed.” Kurt said coaxing his son into sleeping.

Kurt and Blaine took turns describing Dalton to Keith; talking about how wonderful and majestic it is. Keith was pretty sure he was going to have a lot of fun there. The little boy fell asleep in between his fathers’ stories. Kurt looked down to his son. He tucked him in and kissed his forehead.

“Good night, my little warbler.”
