Author's Notes: Written for Klaine Week 2012 Day one - Kid Klaine. Just now got around to getting it to my fabulous beta Callmerayray to be cleaned up and decided to start posting here as well as my LJ.

"Now don't get jealous, this was way before I met you," Kurt stated as he turned the pages of the photo album he was showing Blaine. Blaine and Kurt sat cuddled together on Kurt's bed, both intent on the book resting on Kurt's lap.

They had been spending the better part of the evening looking through old photo albums when they realized that even though they'd been dating for a year, they really didn't know what the other looked like when they were younger. Since they were at Kurt's when the realization hit, they started with Kurt's baby albums with the promise that they would peruse Blaine's the next time they were at his place.

"I actually don't even remember him really," Kurt continued as they paused to look at the photo on the page, "But my dad tells me that we were best friends when we were little. Absolutely inseparable."

Blaine's breath hitched as he gazed at the photo before him. Kurt couldn't have been more than 3 years old and completely adorable curled up sleeping next to an equally adorable curly headed little boy. The two toddlers were sleeping soundly, arms wrapped around each other as if they'd never let go, looking quite peaceful as they napped together.

"Dad said that we used to cry for hours and refuse to leave each other when daycare was over. He always tells me that I was absolutely devastated when his family moved away from Lima. Cried for him for weeks afterwards," Kurt continued on, oblivious to Blaine's frozen form next to him.

Blaine tried to wrap his head around this new development as everything clicked into place in his mind. He felt the tears stinging his eyes as he suddenly saw Kurt in a whole new light. He remembered what he felt when he realized that he was in love with Kurt that first time. Oh there you are. I've been looking for you forever. He was having something of a very similar reaction right now, but for a completely different reason.

"It's sad really," Kurt rambled on. "I wish I remembered him, someone who was so obviously important to me. Or you know, had more than this one picture of him. Still I always kind of wondered what happened to him. Where he is now..." Kurt wandered off when Blaine gripped his arm tightly, finally getting his attention.

"Blaine?" Kurt questioned when he tore his eyes away from the album and looked at his boyfriend for the first time since revealing the photo. "Honey, what's wrong?"

Blaine shook his head, pulling in a ragged breath before speaking. "Nothing. Nothing's wrong," he stated, his voice shaking. "Kurt..." he tried to speak, explain, but he found himself at a loss. Overcome with emotions he surged forward and kissed Kurt passionately.

Kurt squeaked in surprise, but recovered quickly, relaxing into the kiss and pouring just as much emotion into it as Blaine, wrapping his hands around the back of Blaine's neck and pulling him closer.

When Blaine finally pulled back, Kurt had a dazed and content expression plastered on his face. He licked his lips before speaking in a breathless tone. "What was that for?"

Blaine caught Kurt's eyes and held his gaze before looking down at the photo of the two boys, directing Kurt's attention to that.

"That's me, Kurt," he said quietly, almost two quietly but by the hitch in Kurt's voice and the stiffening next to him, he knew Kurt heard him and that Kurt was suddenly looking at the photo in a whole new light. "That little boy who was your best friend was me. Mom used to tell me that I used to have a best friend when I was little, but I never dreamed..."

Kurt laughed breathlessly. "So apparently we've always been meant for each other." He looked back at Blaine, a shy smile on his face.

Blaine smiled back. "Soul mates," he agreed. "My best friend even when I didn't realize it." His gaze turned serious. "I think it would be a great disservice to those two little boys," he said slowly as he gestured to the photo of their tiny sleeping forms "to ever split us up ever again."

Kurt laughed again, pushing the photo album away and wrapped himself up in Blaine's arms. "Absolutely a disservice," He agreed. "It would be a shame." He leaned forward and kissed Blaine again. The two got lost in the kisses together, kissing slowly and languidly, eventually slowing and falling asleep together, tangled in each others arms.
