"I can't believe we are back" said Blaine as they walked down the hallway of their old school.

"I know. It's been 10 years" said Kurt "It is filled with so many memories, both good and bad. But tonight I think we should just focus on the good".

"I agree" smiled Blaine. He took Kurt's hand and squeezed it.

The two men entered the large hall where the reunion was being held for the class of 2012. It wasn't Blaine's reunion, but he felt so comfortable with Kurt's friends that it wasn't an issues.

"Look there's Rachel and Finn" said Kurt.

Rachel hugged the two men "Hi guys. How are you? Look I'm sorry we haven't been to see you since Christmas".

"It's fine. We know how busy you are with the kids. How are Rebecca and Chloe?" asked Blaine.

"They are great. Rachel's Dads are minding them tonight" said Finn.

All four of them sat down as Principle Figgins walked on stage "Welcome. Welcome all past pupils. It's great to see so many of you here. Can you believe it's been 10 years already?". Many of the past students shook their heads.

Figgins continued on with his speech. Kurt leaned in and asked Rachel "Where is everyone else?". Just then Tina, Mike and Mercedes came in looking rather apologetic.

They quietly made their way to the table.

"Sorry guys" whispered Mike.

"It wasn't our fault" said Tina pointing to her and Mike.

"I couldn't decide what to wear" said Mercedes somewhat defensively.

"Well you look fabulous" grinned Kurt which brought the smile back to Mercedes face.

As Figgins continued his speech, Kurt noticed Finn leaving the table and move towards the stage.

"And now to keep proceedings going here is Finn Hudson" announced Figgins. Rachel clapped loudly and the others joined her.

"Every year" started Finn "A special award is given out. This is to honour and recgonize the work that a past student has done. The reason I am up here tonight is because this person is very close to me".

"It must be Rachel" said Kurt to Blaine.

Blaine smiled and said "It must be".

"There are always many candidates, but the whole judging panel agreed that this person deserved it the most. And I definitely think the amount of emails that the judging panel received from this person's boyfriend. Well let's just say they weren't in any doubt." said Finn.

"Before this award is given can I just invite Blaine Anderson up here?" Blaine stood up and kissed Kurt on the cheek. He walked to the stage and took the microphone from Finn.

"Thanks Finn" uttered Blaine as Finn left the stage.

Kurt looked around nervously "Finn, Finn what is going on here?" asked Kurt as Finn rejoined the table.

Finn only responded with "Ssssh just listen".

"Just in case any of you are in any doubt, the winner of this award is Mr. Kurt Hummel" said Blaine. With that the crowd let out a huge cheer.

Kurt could not believe this. He smiled as he tired to hide his embarrassment.

"It is such an honour to be giving this award. Not only is Kurt an amazing man, but I have the honour of being the lucky one who gets to call him my boyfriend".

Kurt blushed at this.

"The reason why I felt he deserved this is because he has done some incredible things with his life. And I really think they should be recognized".

Rachel affectionately squeezed Kurt's arm.

"School was not easy for Kurt. It wasn't easy at all. He was badly bullied and it very nearly broke him. But he knew what was happening was wrong. He knew that he couldn't let it defeat him. He had to carry on. I remember one day I met him at the end of the school day, it had been a particularly awful day for him. But instead of hiding away, he turned to me and said" at this point Blaine started to get teary. "He said that he was not going to let the bullies win. And Kurt you never did". Blaine wiped his eyes, cleared his throat and continued "Since leaving school Kurt has been very successful. He started working as an intern at a major fashion company. In his spare time he designed clothes. Once his company saw these designs, they snatched them up. And now as you all know his clothes can be found in most clothing stores".

Tina caught Kurt's eye as she proudly showed him that she was wearing one of his dresses.

Blaine smiled down as Kurt. Blaine knew Kurt and knew that he would be embarrassed, but Blaine knew this was important.

"Not only that but Kurt has had a successful Broadway career. He has been in 5 major shows" said Blaine.

"We know" interrupted Mercedes "We have seen each show three times". This earned a giggle from Kurt.

"Apart from that, Kurt never forgot his past. He knew that others would be going through similar problems. A friend of his in work was going through a hard time because her little sister was being bullied for being gay. Kurt did not and could not accept this. He went to the girl's school and demanded something be done. When he told the feeble excuse that their hands were tied, he knew that wasn't right. Firstly he set up an anti bullying website which gained popularity. So much so that he got invited around to speak at schools. I can't tell you how proud I am when I see him talking to young children about the importance of tolerance and kindness." Blaine paused as he wiped his eyes. Kurt looked around and saw several people had tears in their eyes especially Rachel.

"Kurt also got heavily involved in equal rights in relation to marriage. It is a campaign that he fought night and day for. He speaks about equality. When asked why should gay people be allowed to marry? He responds that if two people love and cherish each other, why is that a bad thing. He says that true love is so special. If you are gay, straight or bisexual then you should be allowed to celebrate that love. His campaign took a wonderful turn when 6 months ago-gay marriage was legally accepted in this state" Blaine could not contain his joy at saying this last sentence.

Finn smiled at Kurt. He could not be more proud of his step brother.

"We have a special message for Kurt" said Blaine.

Kurt looked up to the screen and saw Santana and Brittany.

"Hi Kurt" they both said.

"We hear that you are getting a very special award" said Santana.

"It is about time" said Brittany.

"We are really sorry we couldn't be there nut we are visiting relations in Europe" said Santana. "Otherwise we would be there cheering you on. Kurt we are very proud of you and all the work that you have done."

"It has had a significant impact on our lives" said Brittany.

"We are more accepted and can walk down hand in hand without fear. Kurt when my grandmother saw your speech last summer on tv, she was so moved that she rang me. Things between us are slowly getting better between us" smiled Santana.

Both girls ended the video message by saying "Enjoy the night Kurt. It is a testimony to everything you have done". They blew air kisses before the screen went blank.

The crowd looked up at Blaine. "Ladies and gentlemen I would like to welcome Kurt to the stage" said Blaine as he looked towards his boyfriend. The whole audience clapped.

Kurt stood up and very slowly made his way to the stage. Encouraging words such as "Well done" and "You deserve this" helped him move a little faster. But even still this made him very nervous. It was so unexpected.

He reached Blaine. Blaine kissed him on the lips, gave him the microphone and walked off stage.

"I...I don't know what to say" stuttered Kurt. "This is so...this feels...it feels amazing. Thank you. Thank you everyone who decided this. Thank you Blaine. I believe you are to blame" joked Kurt "But seriously thank you for your kind words".

Kurt wiped his tears away and tried to gain his composure. "This is such an honour. But I don't deserve this. The great kids who I work with and who I get letters from deserve this. They go through a lot worse than what I did. Some of them have to live through hell both in school and at home. I was lucky to have a very supportive Dad. I am very grateful to him for that" said Kurt.

"I know you are Kurt" shouted a voice.

Kurt looked in surprise to see his Dad sitting at the back of the hall. Kurt could see that his Dad's eyes were filled with tears.

"Hi Dad. I didn't know you were going to be here. They keep landing me with surprises" chuckled Kurt. "Blaine any more surprises up your sleeve?"

Blaine shook his head no.

"Anyway, these kids that I meet. They are the courageous ones. I remind them how amazing they are. I tell them to be true to who they are. What greater gift can you give yourself than being the wonderful person you were meant to be? If you change yourself to suit others, you are loosing out. You are denying yourself a world of possibilities. If you can stand in front of the mirror and be proud of who you, that feeling will support you throughout your life. Tolerance and acceptance are very important issues. I believe they are not being promoted enough. Wouldn't you like to live in a world where everyone was accepted? Wouldn't you like your children to live in that kind of world? Let's make that a reality" said Kurt.

At this stage everyone got to their feet and cheered and clapped loudly.

"Thank you to everyone here. This award means so much to me. And thank you Blaine I love you so much. Thanks for helping me all along the way. You have been my rock" said Kurt.

As Kurt made his way back to the table, everyone was still clapping.

He received a hug from each of his friends.

"Kurt you deserve this" said Mike.

"I love you Kurt. You have achieved so much" said Mercedes.

"When I saw Finn up there, I thought this award was for you" said Kurt as Rachel hugged him.

"This night is about you" smiled Rachel.

Burt joined the group "Well done Kurt. I am so proud of you. You have had a rough time. But you have made the most of it".

Kurt hugged his Dad "Thank you Dad, and thank you for being here. How did you know?".

"Well Blaine told me what was happening and I wouldn't miss it for the world" said Burt. "But I am going to go back to Carole now and leave you with your friends".

Kurt hugged his Dad goodbye.

As the reunion drew to a close, Kurt and Blaine said goodbye to their friends.

Kurt followed Blaine as he led him out to their car.

"Blaine thank you so much. That was incredible" said Kurt.

"You are incredible" said Blaine as he leaned in and kissed his boyfriend.

"I know I have been busy over these past few years. Not only have you stood by me, but you have helped me all along the way." said Kurt.

"Kurt I don't care what I am doing, as long as I get to do it with you" said Blaine.

Blaine looked up at his boyfriend. He felt such pride in all that Kurt had achieved. He loved this man and wanted the whole world to know how amazing he was.

"Kurt you know the way earlier you asked if there where any more surprises. Well I lied. You have been working so hard on the campaign for equal marriage rights. It has meant so much to so many people. Kurt it also means so much to me because I get to ask you this" said Blaine. He rooted in his pocket and got down on one knee.

"Kurt you are everything to me. You are a star that guides and leads me to a better place. My place in life is with you. I love you so much. Stopping me in Dalton was the best thing that could have happened because it meant I met you. I can't believe how lucky I am that I get to spend every day with you. I want that to continue. So Kurt will you marry me?".

Kurt kneeled down beside Blaine "Blaine this day could not be more perfect. You are my world. Yes I will marry you.".

Blaine put the ring on Kurt's finger.

The two boys stood up and kissed each other sweetly and romantically, much like their first kiss.
